Chrono Cross CD 2
« on: September 10, 2005, 03:58:42 pm »
Well, I just got Chrono Cross. I have no PSX so I used an emulator a friend gave me. It's called AdriPSX.

I reached the point where you visit the shaman, when I decided to do the first "normal" save (instead of saving states). But hey, I noticed that I couldn't. AdriPSX help says that Memory Card emulation doesn't really work yet and it isn't a priority :?:

If Chrono Cross is in 2 CDs, I assume that after reaching the "end" of CD 1 you save and then insert CD 2. But how the bloody hell (ooops, I must stop playing :P) will I go to CD 2 without using Memory Card? Should I get a new emulator and start the game again?       Or has Square cared about users without Memory Card?

I'm scared. I don't want to start over...  :( Please, does anybody know something that could help?

I think it just asks you if you want to save. You don't have to save if you don't want to.

Are you sure about that? Normally, do you just change the CDs while the Play Station is on?

Yeah, you should be able to switch CDs at the "insert disc 2" screen and press any button to continue. Otherwise, from the "insert" screen, try going to AdriPSX's menu (if that's possible without quitting the game entirely), switch CDs from there, and click "Boot From CD."

If all else fails and you really just want to see what happens on disc 2, I can give you a disc 2 save state for another emulator (PSXeven, probably the most reliable emulator I've used -- beat Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy 7-9 with it with no problem). The beginning of disc 2 is probably the best, most awesome part of the game.

Let's pray then... I'm looking for converting programs. If all fails, I'll PM you for that save state file.

However, if anybody knows a state converter (AdriPSX To ePSXe), please give me a link.

Hey, problem solved. I used my super-extra-hyper fast mode (which is, wake up at 10:00 and play CC until 18:00 with minor breaks to drink water or watch the intro :P) and I beat my previous save (with ePSXe this time). Okay, I guess...

Good for you, I just started CC once again, for the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 time. I am so pathetic.

I thought you were still on your first playthrough (stuck at the black dragon). Is there really any point to starting over then? It's not like you can make choices that will really mess up the game for you (unless it's the fact that Black Dragon is too hard for you and you want to be able to get the relic without fighting him. In that case, you're gonna have a heart attack when you try Dario  :P .)

Are you using a first party PSX card? If not, then it's partially your fault, since third party cards back in the PSX/N64 generation have notorious reputations.

It's a first party. I had a third party with my FFVIII data once. I had saved outside to fight the final boss. Turned it off for the night, woke up, no data on the whole memory card, I grabbed a hammer, and busted the shit out of it!

Heh, when I ordered Chrono Cross a month ago approx., I needed a psx memory card, so I ordered a "dreamgears" one by mistake on Amazon (>_>). Not even willing to take the chance, I waited for another 3 days for the first party card I had ordered in haste to arrive. So far, it hasn't let me down (the third party one is still wrapped in it's case)

Careful what you're burning...plastic's really bad for the environment when burnt.
