Hope this is the right place to post something like this. Found this video while falling down the youtube rabbit hole and learned some things I never knew about gold old CT! I'd actually like to fact check some of it.

Some of what the video states contradicts what I thought I knew about Chrono Trigger's history, so if any of you guys know your CT history, is this legit?

For example it says Chrono Trigger was originally going to be part of the Secret of Mana saga and called Maru Island, and there is some very interesting early sketch work for the cast, specifically Frog.

What do you all think?

tl;dr: Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana both originated as the same original project, the original Squaresoft/Akira Toriyama collaboration, which was going to be a Super CD-ROM action RPG codenamed Maru Island.
