Any volunteers for a widescreen hack?
« on: February 04, 2020, 04:17:14 pm »
Just wondering if anyone here is capable of or interested in making a widescreen hack for Chrono Trigger. You can download the emulator fork here and see some screenshots of what it would look like here.

In the "Enhancements" part of the settings, choose "2:1" for Aspect and "all" for Widescreen. Disable Aspect correction and show overscan. This will show you the max distance you can render. Basically, all sprites and tile code needs updated to appear in areas that were formerly offscreen. Width goes from 256 to 448.

Wow this is amazing,  I played with the emulator that did this a while back but it looked like hell.

I've been curious about this, but wasn't clear on how to address the new background range.

Sweet, you should refine that (without the need of external programs).

...Looking cool!
