Validity of Crimson Echoes Cart!!!
« on: October 29, 2019, 06:11:54 pm »
So before I put out any questions I'd like to state that I know very little, if not nothing about actual game design/production/coding etc... I'm simply a huge fan of the entire Chrono series and want to get information straight from the horses mouth regarding productions from said series. Saying that, sorry if anything I say comes off as ignorant or uneducated...simply because I am probably a little of both on this particular subject :D

I'm looking into purchasing a fully working cartridge of Crimson Echoes from this specific site

https://www.etsy.com/listing/200474342/chrono-trigger-crimson-echoes-for-super

Just wondering if anyone has any information or prior dealings with the site or any of these productions. I know that I can probably download a rom and just run it through the emulator on my laptop but, as I'm sure many would agree, it just isn't the same as playing through the console.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated !!!!!!

Some of my general thoughts on reproduction carts:

- Creating one requires the destruction of another game as a donor cart. Usually the donor cart is general enough that one copy of that game wouldn't be missed can be used, but with some games your list is pretty limited.
- All money goes to the creator of the cart. While most hackers wouldn't want to profit from their hacks, many are not a fan of reproduction carts being made from them.

Specifically regarding Crimson Echoes, I believe there's a bug that prevents progress at a certain point in real hardware/non-ZSNES emulators, but I'm not sure on the specifics of this.

I have heard of the CE carts but cannot confirm that the bug is present in them; I would not be surprised if that was indeed the case. Just be aware that you could buy the cart and end up being unable to play it all the way through.

:/

Edit: A quick Google search shows that the bug is still present on the cartridge, but can be somewhat avoided.
