No, no, I'm afraid it's the reverse.

Lol, and the Visi Goths. Magus is not a goth. Goths don't wear purple, have red eyes, blue hair >.> Goths are purely black and white. But I guess I can agree on the medieval Goth type, as in the barbarians.

Black, the color of their souls. White, the color of bone. Red, the color of blood. Oh, and pink, the color of acne from wearing too much damn makeup all the time.

Ditto....

Why would Magus want to kill his own kind... Magus was only telling the Mystics that he would. But he acctually wanted to kill Lavos. If Lavos had awakened, Humans and Mystics would have died.

Yes, you are wrong, although no one has explained why, yet. During the first part of the game, you are made to believe that Magus is the creator of Lavos, for the purpose of destroying humankind. However, it is later revealed that Magus is not the creator of Lavos, and had no intention to destroy humanity. The truth is that Magus only wanted to summon Lavos, so that he could kill it and satisfy a personal vendetta wherein Magus was stranded by Lavos in the 600 A.D. era from an earlier time period. Magus made the summon and got overwhelmed. Oh well...Lavos has a way of doing that.

Lord J Esq is correct.

Magus's purpose for summoning Lavos was to destroy it.

Magus wanted to get back at Lavos for Lavos having sent Magus back to 600AD when Magus was still Janus.

Magus is the "reaper" of Lavos, not the "reaper" of humans.

...

And that's why I kind of say Magus is angsty; he's poetic like that.

He wants to be like the Grim Reaper to Lavos.

I believe that's why he adopted the scythe as his weapon.

Otherwise, he stands quite powerful with only his magic.

I think Magus only has a scythe because he thinks scythes are cool.

And he thinks scythes are cool because he's angsty.

Calling Magus a wuss is a bit much, don't you think?

Picture a man in any ghetto across america fighting someone who had attempted to do a driveby at his house and had wounded or killed family members.

Would you call this person a wuss? Perhaps slightly (and I'm being generous by saying slightly) ignorant (being a pacifist, I must take that view of it) but certainly not weak.

I believe this to be an accurate metaphor.

But, to put it like a line from a Tarrantino film...

I'd go medieval on Lavos' ass, too...and anyone who got in my way would quickly be turned into something unnatural.

I was only really supposing, but Magus seemed to be really stuck on Schala, but his sister has proven to be his second priority, while revenge on Lavos is first.

Bad analogy. Besides, how is a person who tries to fight back, to protect that which is precious to him, ignorant?

...

You got in on this thread a little late.

Everyone's pretty much already proved to me, that, Magus isn't weak, or a wuss, or WHATEVAH.

What he wanted to do was get serious revenge on Lavos for sending him to 600AD by his lonesome.

Although...

...I think it's this point that bothers me.

Why would Magus care that Lavos sent him ahead in time?

Either,

he really WAS scared and lonely, being in unfamilar surroundings and hostile company,

OR

he just hated being pushed around, felt his security threatened, and thus wanted to assert dominance over Lavos to restore his self-image of omnipotence.

THAT is why I think Magus was a wuss. For whatever reasons he could've had to get back at Lavos.

Now, if it was something noble like saving the world, THAT I'd understand! :D

I had always wondered if Magus thought that by killing Lavos, he'd get Schala back.

It kinda does in Chrono Cross. But seriously? Growing up with people like Ozzie must not have left him very sane.

Maybe it started as one, and then faded to the other one?  Well, not so much as the second case, but the first case of being scared and lonely eventually caved in and turned into hate and revenge.

Well, I suppose one should first consider the effect that having a psychotic megalomaniac mother, losing your sister and your entire civilization, and being dumped 12,600 years in your future (in the middle of a nation of demons) would have on your psyche before you make judgements.

Maybe is was a coincidence. I really don't think he is a wuss. He wasn't a wuss when he decided to get lavos in 600ad. People are wusses because they don't want him anywhere. There are scared of him.
