Getting Started
« on: February 16, 2018, 05:49:57 pm »
So as I've stated in a few threads here, I'm planning on starting some Chrono Trigger fan art and I started writing a fanfic. I have a great idea for a piece of art in my head, but I think I have to get down how to draw Crono and Marle first. Would you guys be interested in seeing my doodlings? I can see this will be a process. LOL Also when I'm as done as I think I will be fore my story, could I put it here for you guys to read before I post it on Deviant Art? Thanks!

I would look at fan art.

I would also read stories.

So is your visual art going to coincide with your fanfic?

I'd echo Mauron's sentiments. I'd look at other fanart (DeviantArt is a great resource) and see what style you want to pursue. Want it to look like Toriyama's original art? Go for it! Want to do your own style (or emulate someone else's?) go for it!

Just make sure you're having fun doing it!

Yes, I'm planning on it coinciding. But I thought I should figure out how I want to draw them. I'm not sure on the style that I want yet, so I need to practice! Trying to draw it from my head is NOT working. LOL

Hey I'm happy to have a creative project that I'm working on. I haven't done anything like this in soooo long!

So I spent a lot of time on Deviant art yesterday and I have some great ideas... I would like to be able to do it like a digital painting but I think I may have to use traditional media for my first works of art until I can learn a way to do it graphically. I did finish the first part of my story though, all I need to do is type it out. So progress is being made! I just wanted to provide an update.

looking forward to it.

If you do enough art, even make a graphic novel out of it. Either way sounds like you're doing what you love, and that's the key to beautiful art. Keep us updated!

Will do!

I'm wondering, should I post my excerpt here or start a new thread?

Thank you!

Start a new thread so you have your own private space here in fanworks. :)

Done! I posted it here: https://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php?topic=12678.0

This is my first time showing it to anyone so I'm excited for opinions! I'm really liking the direction it's taking.

Nice! I'll check it out. I won't be able to read or respond at this moment, but I will tonight or tomorrow (whenever I get downtime).

Looking forward to it!
