Google Earth: Who has it? Who loves it? This lovely piece of equipment can show us anyplace in the world! So who else here has it?

Apparently, if you use & support Google Earth, you're letting the terrorists win.

I watched the news and the army or w/e was upset w/the program because some of the people there used Google Earth and it gave precise pictures for where they were located in enemy territory...

Well how is that our fault. Its more the fault of Google putting their locations in Google Earth. Thats pretty stupid doing that.

It's not really Google's fault either...The system just uses kind of old pictures from w/e satelite from whenever ago...But a lot of military things haven't changed...They can show precisely where bases are and where their aircraft or w/e is...If the enemy wanted to, they could use it to precisely target exact points in w/e base pretty easily if they wanted...

Ah i see now V_T, I was taking it the wrong way. yes, Google or no one cant help it. But couldn't they possible edit the bases out of the photos or not put any markers on it or anything to lessen its attention.

And as Saridon pointed out: We can see them.

Then they probably changed it because of that...Oh, and I think most of the enemy aren't as perminent as the bases that are set up around where ever...

there are other earth viewers than google earth as well you kno, ones that update regualary and don't blur stuff on the radio one time a guy was talking about one where the resolution was so high he could see his dog tied up.

its not just google earth there are alot of other ones that would show military bases in high resolution those ones would be more dangerous than google even more so if they update regualary as well.

I want to see my dog tied up! Who are these competing providers of which you speak?
