The power of Schala's pendant, Epoch in 12,000 BC

Wow, we've spent way too long discussing Aura's statement that Belthasar was there for several years!  Personally I would believe that he was.  Time-error would seem to suggest that.  Take a look at the people who've been gated and the evidence surrounding them:

Janus - Gated as a child, and was in the middle ages for several years...had time to grow up.  This is the most obvious one.

Gaspar - Gated to the End Of Time, and when you meet him the first time, the things he says suggest that he has been here for a long time...  At least a few years.  Although later, when his name is mentioned, he responds, "I believe that's what they used to call me...ages ago..."  We are probably not meant to believe that Gaspar has literally been there for ages, but several years ("several" being enough for Janus to grow up) WOULD seem like ages if you're the only one around!

Melchior - Melchior has grown accustomed to life in the present: he mentions that he lives on the continent to the east (not "I'm new in town" or anything...it's like he's been living there for awhile), and the imps in Medina say that Melchior "lives" in the hut to the west...  They don't say that he just popped out of their cabinet last month like you did 3 minutes ago...  He's been there.

Given those 3, it's probably safe to assume that the last one gated from the Ocean Palace disaster, Belthasar, has likely also been in his new home for several years.

Because it's mentioned that Belthasar was working on the Epoch, correct? It doesn't say he was finished with it...

So what! Working could easily mean anything from "just starting" to "nearing completion". So he could have added its AI if he wanted to if it was nearly finished.

But Belthesar was gated to 2300 AD! If he had already been there for years that would mean he was gated at about 2290 or whatever. Now there is solid proof that in the Keystone T-1 and T-2 Belthesar was gated to 2300 AD, so why wouldn't he have been gated to there in the Lavos Timeline, unless something in the Keystone Timelines while Crono was fixing up time screwed it up so he originally went to 2990. Overall: I belive he cant have been there for longer than a few months.

He was always gated to 2290 A.D. You don't get it, do you? They're not talking about exact years. They're saying he arrived circa 2300 A.D. not AT 2300 A.D. If it still took him 10 years to complete the Epoch, I'd have to say he really didn't get that far in it's completion if it DID follow him.

"working on" suggests that it's not complete. If it's not complete, it aint gonna be traveling through time...I mean, if Zeal had a fully functioning Time Machine, she'd be puttin' tha hurt on a lot more 'n' just the Zeal continent (probably something along the lines of that whakky Compendium ZEAL Project, no?).

But yeah, I think it's obvious that none of the people that were gated in the Ocean Palace disaster were gated to those exact years as seen in the game and used by the Epoch...

Aura, I was totally going to tell you to lay off the n00b, but then I realized you've been around less than he has! O_o

Well, anyways...Nobody's ever 'pwnt' here...if not for the simple fact that 1337 shall not be tolerated for anything but the very most select humor then for the fact that we're all on a learning experience here...

Not in any kind of mean-spirited (GameFAQs) way, Lordchander...More in a jovial, jolly, kidding sort of way (as this is my nature).

Complete != Time travel capable.

If anything that would have been the FIRST thing Belthasar would have had finished. Think about it, why make the machine without knowing the essential purpose of the machine. When the atom bomb was made they didn't construct the bomb first and then figure out the mechanics behind it.

I don't see what Zeal would really want with a time travel device. Her mind was soley set on Lavos and its energy. Nothing else was important to her.

Zeal wanted power over EVERYTHING. They wouldn't want some petty law of nature like time to stop them.

Uhhhhhhh...I don't doubt that teh capability to travel through time would be the first thing about the Epoch that Belthasar would finish...I mean, what else would he be doing w/it??? That's not my point though. My point is that the time traveling ability of his machine is not complete. Otherwise they would have just said that it was done, not that he was working on it...

1) The actual mechanics behind making the time travelling mechanisms might take a damn long time.
2) He could have been working on the other parts of the Epoch (insides, outsides etc.)

But he was working on a time machine...I don't see how him putting in seats or anything like that would be considered not done if he's already got the time traveling part accomplished...

Ok then, screw the other parts bit

Now imagine if u were faced up with the job of building a time machine. First of all, even before you can begin designing your timemachine, you have to understand how time works and how you would be able to penetrate it so u could travel through time. That on its own can take a long time. Next would come the designing it, not that hard (unless your a shitty artist, like me   ). Next u would have to find the resources (i can imagine in a place like Zeal that wouldn't be too hard, but in the future...there is a lot of scrap metal and- I'll stop there  :D ) and begin to build the outer parts. Now you would have to have some form of skill to be able to do something along the lines of that. After the building process comes the hardest part of all: Applying the time travelling mechanisms. This in istelf could take MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS of hard hard work to get it all right.

Think of it like building a car from scrap yet having no machines do it for you.

Now do you see how long it would take to build a time travelling machine?

PS: I cut my finger today  :P
