Chrono Saga: To the Sea of Dreams Artwork
« on: October 03, 2012, 04:33:07 pm »
I wasn't sure if I should put this in my sounding board topic or here, but I decided the Fanart section would be more appropriate.

Anyway, if anyone remembers my original art for the story, most characters have gone through a wardrobe change. Hell, Schwann got a complete redesign.

I'll say right now that there is at least a decent chance that these designs won't be final. I recently decided to try a new series of techniques based off of Last Story. I'm not sure if this technique will stick, since I suck at consistency, but I will try my best.

Anyway, here we go...

Schala:

Lark:

Glenn:

Reika:

Gilbert:

(Note: Yeah... I think it's kinda obvious who he really is, isn't it?)

Laura:

Schwann:

(Note: Yikes... Well, I did say he was a giant. I just didn't realize that the head-to-body proportions were that bad. So yeah, I think I made him a bit too big...)

Well, that's all I have for now. Maybe next time, I'll draw and post a pic that actually has feet in it. :P

Why the costume change for Schala? That sure is a lot of cleavage...

*blinks* So wait. Reika has about a foot of cleavage going, and Schala's the one you're worried about?

*Walks into a broom closet.*

WHAAAAAT?!

*Walks back out.*

But seriously, the original costume I had for her more or less screamed, "Hey! I'm from the future! I stick out like a sore thumb!" I thought the gypsy-like garb was a better fit. Sort of like a stranger from a far-off mystical land, which when you think about it, is technically what Schala is.

That... and it's also kinda my own little tribute to Toriyama. We all know how much he likes his tube tops/off-the-shoulder outfits. :P

Although I admit, maybe I could have hiked the top part up a bit higher. Oh well.

Wait, Toriyama gives his female characters muscles now? I must be waaaay behind the times. :o

.....We need a trollface smiley. And a happybounce smiley.

*cough*

But in all seriousness, muscles are one of the things I have trouble with. I can never find a good anatomy/muscle guide that isn't NSFW. I kinda want to change this, but I don't know where to look. :/

Nah, I mean your other characters.  :P

But you have done a good job already. I always have trouble drawing faces, they all look the same I guess. :/

Well, I had no expectations for Reika, you invented her. Schala, on the other hand, is an already-established character. But no, not worried, just curious.

XD Nice outfit ideas! For some reason, I feel like doing a "Draw That Again" meme out of your drawings for practice (which is obviously the best art-based meme ever).

I was gonna make a new topic for this, but then I remembered that I made a fanart topic.

Anyway, this pic is of Lark and Schala in Act 3, and a companion piece to my On the Road to Bliss ficlet. Hell, this picture ended up giving me the inspiration to write that fic.

Now take a look at this and tell me it doesn't give you warm fuzzies.

(Special thanks to my friend who put this on her photobucket.)

This is the first pic for my project that isn't concept art that I used Kimihiko Fujisaka's style for. If Sea of Dreams ever gets noticed by Square, and they can't get Toriyama or Yuki, then I'll definitely take Fujisaka. Although, if I wasn't worried about ruining it, I could probably afford to clean it up a bit more... >.>

Here's the new (or old in this case) Lavenda, Dragovian warrior priestess and invoker of forbidden black magics.
