chronofan.com file directories inaccessible
« on: February 13, 2014, 06:43:12 pm »
I maintain an Arch Linux package for the Chrono Trigger fonts hosted on chronofan.com's file server. They still download but when I try accessing the directory itself (chronofan.com/Black/Other) I get an error, as if I'm blocked. I check the directory to see the modification date in case it needs to be updated. Is this a bug or is access now forbidden?

We no longer allow directory listings for those files. They're also served via Amazon S3 now rather than hosted on the webserver.

Try using curl with the -v option to see the headers sent when downloading the file directly. There might be a Last-modified header.

I take it it was because of all the hacking resources?

No, it's because we switched to Amazon S3, and that's the default policy, which we're keeping because listing objects also costs more.

I see. Any way I can find out if the font distribution files get renamed or something?

No, but I'd recommend against anyone renaming anything hosted on our S3 account anyway. If something needs updating, they should upload a new version and name it accordingly.
