Welcome to the usual Spring Mega Update! If the air suddenly feels temperate and the sky darkens with sweet, sweet rain, then you know it's the absolute greatest time of year. A lot's happened since the last true update, so let's get started with an amazing piece of news! Chrono'99 popped back in to share a wonderful discovery. As it turns out, Chrono Trigger began as a planned Seiken Densetsu game for a Super Famicom Disk Drive; when Nintendo canceled plans for the drive, Square reoriented it as a regular ROM cartridge game and branded it Chrono Trigger. Hiromichi Tanaka is the one who shared this amazing information; check out the interview
here! (It's been archived on the Compendium as well.) Thanks Chrono'99! Now let's get started (be sure to click the banner)!
[CHRONO NEWS] Thanks to Lennis, we've become aware that a Chrono Cross arrangement was briefly featured on NPR (a nationwide American radio program, for the uninitiated). The show in question was covering a French-Canadian violinist who's arranging classical video game scores. Find the accompanying article
here!
[2] It's embarrassingly late-coming, but we've archived an interview Magus22 found with Yoshinori Kitase discussing how he used CT's time travel as a premise for that of FFXIII-2's. Find it
here.
[3] In case you missed it last year, nullpointer uploaded some pictures of the working debug rooms (with a few notes) of a Chrono Cross NTSC beta disc one. Before you go crazy, remember that the NTSC beta would be a copy of the finished Japanese product, ready for English localization; not too much is different here. But the different debug rooms are incredible to look at! I've set up a page for it at
Chrono Cross NTSC Beta.

[4] Apparently there's a new, serious Chrono Trigger 3D project going on, found on Facebook
here. I question the wisdom of being so visible when Square's willing to C&D even 16-bit stuff, let alone Chrono Resurrection style projects, but hey; at least someone's doing something!
[5] stingrayiii has been making Chrono Trigger 3D models; grab them
here!
[6] Dream Splash 2011 & 2012 are now collected and archived on the Dream Splash page; check out the results
here.
[7] William Kage has issued an album of original tunes created from SNES game soundfonts, with the songs thematically linked to their soundfonts' original game. There are six tracks made from Chrono Trigger's instruments, all with CT themes! Check it out at
William Kage Music.
