Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: CTDS... a tad disappointing

if it were in 3D they would probably eliminate the whole 'battles taking place where you stand' concept

« on: July 13, 2008, 11:01:25 pm »Quote from: Mitchr90and also, i didnt know toriyama didnt do those cutscenes! they looked like his style.. am i missing something here?
They were done by underlings who copy his style, but you'll notice things off from Toriyama's actual designs: Crono's proportions (which they made more resemble Goku for no good reason) and, my main gripe, Glenn's stupid hair in the new ending.
Actually all the characters in the cutscenes were to look like DBZ characters. Crono to Goku. Lucca to Bulma. Human Glenn to Vegeta.(not kidding look at behind pics of them they are remarkably the same size) Frog Glenn to Ginyu Frog. Ayla to Android 18. Robo, I can't tell but I'm sure he was. Marle you can compare to Chichi but, there are only certain images of Chichi as her constant change through the series.
i noticed that and it really ticked me off. i know theres probably some dragon ball fans here but i personally hate that show and if it were not for the many great character designs of chrono trigger i would probably hate his style altogether. But watching those playstation cutscenes made me feel like he didnt know how to draw anything else other than those characters from dragonball z. so its a relief he didnt really do it.
i personally am more of a fan of the art style from cross. the cutscenes were beautiful imo.

you know what I WISH is in the new game?
save states and a speed button!
cause i just realized that without them im probably gonna be alot worse at this game than i thought i was (well i played the playstation version before but i didnt go that far)
and also, i didnt know toriyama didnt do those cutscenes! they looked like his style.. am i missing something here?

« on: July 09, 2008, 08:30:16 pm »How Crono used Lighting 2 in the beginning of the game (fourth page of the scan)? THIS IS CHEAT! XDDpssh, new game+
and to what you guys are saying about the graphics, so what if theyre still snes style! you guys heard about megaman 9 coming out right? everyone got so excited over the fact that is in its original nes style. and sure, chrono trigger hasnt really gone further in terms of graphics as megaman has (unless you count cross), but i still go with my own opinion of NDS' 3D graphics: awkward!

my opinion for the graphics (im not saying this is what i think is going to happen, this is what i say should happen) is that they should be redone but not in 3D. if theres one thing i cant stand its that the nintendo DS is in the stage that N64 and PSX were in: awkward 3D graphics imo.
have you guys seen what theyre doing to the kirby superstar remake for the ds? (http://www.nintendic.com/news/1291) theyre basically making it the same game but improved graphics, added cutscenes and a few new games inside (i think)
something like that in terms of graphics would be great

what makes this all so worthwhile is that we finally get to hear mitsudas piece in all of its glory. The songs were beautiful but they were limited to what the super nintendo had to offer.
Im hoping for a fully orchestrated rendition of all the songs

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Language issues of Chrono Trigger
« on: July 03, 2008, 12:17:04 am »
im sure this has been discussed before.. but ive been wondering how, from 65 billion BC, all the way up to 2300 AD people were all speaking the same language. I know its obviously because its a video game and im overthinking this but, in 65 billion BC ayla points out that lavos was a name she created (la=fire vos=big). does this not mean that they do speak another language? how are they communicating?
they should have put a universal language analyser in the game, like say when you go into the future. that way it would be explained and that when theyre in 65 billion BC they could have been like 'how am i understanding you?' 'oh yeah we got this universal translating thing'

« on: July 03, 2008, 12:02:31 am »I'm gonna name my daughter Flea from Chrono Trigger.
I wonder how the wife will like that. Haha.
You're naming her after an exteremely feminine boy?
no, he's naming her after a small wingless parasite
but to all who've discussed naming kids after chrono characters, im on board. I've wanted to name my future offspring that of a character from CT or CC for quite some time now. im not sure which however. perhaps chrono, or kid, or schala? theyre my top favorite
you know youve played too much CT when..
you named your fish after certain figures from zeal (magus, janus, schala, alfador, belthazar, melchior, gaspar, golem, mammon (machine.. not part of the namE))
you squealed like a little girl when you saw the news about the remake

man, what to say, what to say...
right before i heard of this unearthly news i watched this: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35772.html
its what SE is doing to FFIV and from what i saw they do alot of great work to their remakes nowadays
so when i heard chrono trigger was heading to the ds, i was just bolted with happiness
as for what changes they have many so far, they sound pretty good. remake, remastered, their both generally the same and we cant base whether they're going to add anything else to it by if its being remade or remastered.
of course i would love so much more for the game, but from what ive heard, a new dungeon, wireless play and the fact that i dont have to buy a new console is good enough for me
