The project is yours, so the deadlines are your own to make. Take the time you need to be happy with your work.

The Great To-Do List / Re: [500] Locate this Chrono Trigger commercial
« on: November 15, 2019, 06:05:43 pm »
this video is very similar to the one above showing much of the same footagebut with overview by what I can only guess are by the developers.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm1633229
to see this one you might have to make an account- although a japanese site it's pretty straight forward.

The music in this video... The instruments sound so similar to the ones in Chrono Trigger... Is this the actual music written by Yasunori Mitsuda before it was prepared for SNES?!
The sax(?) (several songs), the music box (Marle's theme), the lead instrument in Schala's theme... They are so similar to the SNES music, but richer.

A couple songs have significant differences, of course. Many of Wind Scene's parts are an octave lower, the brass section plays a different tune during a portion of Courage and Pride, and Battle 1 has several changes in the final Chrono Trigger: new percussion, background strings becoming rhode, etc.......

So interesting!!

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Lavos Theme Extended???
« on: November 14, 2019, 05:38:19 pm »
I've heard it in-game on SNES, DS, and Windows (steam) port of iOS. I only certainly recall hearing it during the Ocean Palace encounter--the one we're expected to lose, where winning it and the rest does a neat thing.

Haven't tested across all the Lavos encounter opportunities, regions, builds, and consoles, but I guess it's based on the way you encounter Lavos: iirc bucketmode is always the short version; Palacemode is supposed to always be this long version. I believe Epochmode (safe arrival instead of crashing--when Epoch has no wings) is always short.

The first part does loop, playing at least twice iirc, before the song reaches the extra bit, so be sure to wait for that...

Chrono Cross Modification / Re: Chrono Cross - German Translation Project
« on: November 13, 2019, 11:05:29 pm »
i've never used the tool, but reading the source...

Looks like "Dump_Txt" takes one argument, a filename. Description in French, translated:
Quote
Extraction des textes d'un fichier; fish: dossier | fichier de textes (sans extension pour dossier)

Extract text from a file. Argument is a folder or a text file (filename without extension means folder)

So, example usage:
Code: [Select]
Txt_Dump myFile.dat or
Code: [Select]
Txt_Dump myFolder
Not sure what would be specified as a file; hope you know!

i'm reading the C source in the 01_Programmes folder. Txt_Dump code is in Textes.cpp.

Same here. I like the simplest explanations, as long as they aren't disproven.

Regarding being lost in Ocean Palace ruins--as described in this article, Schala's power to rescue people by teleporting them from the crumbling Ocean Palace most likely would've been used on herself, probably the Queen, and possibly one other. (If Schala rescues the Queen, then this presumably explains why the Black Omen doesn't exist until Crono & co's interference.)
That would bring the pendant on land, where it would presumably be kept by whatever form of royalty existed until at least 1000 AD.

Edit: very interesting tangents on this page: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/950181-chrono-trigger/59769912

One suggestion there is that the Pendant did simply wash up on shore and was found by the Village Elder, just like in the party-interference timeline where the Elder gives it to the party after they wake in the little village post-Fall. Maybe the Elder kept it and his own family or one he passed it to became Guardia.

Is the pendant in the Astral Amulet not made of wood?

Another idea is that it might have belonged to Magus, but I guess that's also unlikely for the same reason.

disclaimer: I know next to nothing on CC lore, only CT

What's your current setup and encoder settings?
A three-hour video for YouTube, primarily with screen recording, should really be no more than 3 GB, I would say.

(Depending on resolution and framerate, I believe it's reasonable to get that down to 1 GB.)

Edit: But of course, if you have the bandwidth, YouTube will take that. I believe the limit is 128 GB and 12 hours.

Spiky red hair, and determination to control the future.
I also get a real feeling that we are participating in a universal cross-era life that affects everyone in some way--sometimes ways none of us might foresee.

And feeding a cat over and over again and getting the same adorable gratitude each time.

There's no upper limit, right? Can't it be somewhat of a rolling series? Thanks for your work.

Update on annotation availability:

The site invidio.us is now able to grab annotations that have been archived at a few places on the internet. The Crimson Echoes playthrough playlist is here.

On invidio.us, just under the video, click "Show annotations", and they will appear in the video just like they used to on YouTube. You can also enable "Show annotations by default" in the invidio.us settings page.
