Well, that's pretty damn impressive. I would just assume someone took an HD screenshot of the original if you hadn't said it was a recreation. Of course, I have a bad habit of not always looking closely

Yay, story time! A bit amused that little Kid is covered in bandages but little CC Glenn isn't.

Frog fishing a flower out of the pond is just plain cute.

I'd never wondered about the mechanics of the slurp, but... thanks for explaining it in art?

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Glenn's Age Speculation

Nah, I agree with a lot of this. I was actually just going by the sprites and the age difference between Cyrus and Glenn, and didn't even consider the rank of squire. But that makes sense too -- Cyrus even says Glenn's better with a sword than he is, so I would hope at 30, he'd be at a much higher rank.

Agreed... wouldn't mind seeing more of either.

lol... uh... thanks for the scans? I wonder if I'd have shipped them had I known. Oh well. It was 20 years ago, I was going by headcanon anyway and I have no regrets.

If Frog's 40, Magus must be ancient.

I like that she realizes she was wrong about him and wants to a good friend to him during the masamune thing. Why else would the game introduce enemies that you need her to defeat at Denadoro and then give her the highest priority to fix the sword? There's an interesting idea there..

I never really made the connection about Denadoro, but you're right. You need fire to burn the enemies that wield weapons. Villagers make that pretty clear.

And yeah, I headcanoned Glenn to be maybe 15-17 at the time he was turned into a frog, for the same reason (younger sprite), whether that was subconscious or not.

I am totally digging the art. The 3D stuff is pretty impressive. And Lucca should give Frog more hugs! It's cute because it shows how far their friendship has come. The last one looks like something out of an old Disney movie.

To be honest, I shipped Glenn/Lucca like burning back in the day. I still don't know their official ages but figured they were something of a May-December romance. And I shipped them anyway.

(Psst...

Don't know if I'm allowed to link to it, but KH Insider also has the soundtrack.)

Torna, eh? Interesting. I still have yet to finish XB1 and start the regular XB2, but now I may push through it. Or just buy Torna, since I'm told it's a standalone story.

Xenogears Perfect Works (a book that was never translated, except through fans' attempts) gets more into detail about the individual episodes (though episode IV is partly "documented" in XG too). I'd like to see how much the Xenoblade DLC resembles it.

Well, further Googling shows that there is truth to that rumor. And I didn't realize a certain poster in Xenogears was supposed to be Tifa! Definitely see it now though.

Xenogears and FF7 were made around the same time, and there's even an Easter egg in FF7 (Cloud's incoherent ramblings after you-know-what). Other than that, I haven't heard of anything else connecting the two.

It was pretty good. Haven't played in well over a decade though.

You'll see a familiar CT character in the main hero's home village :D

The story was a bit religiously controversial for its time (and might possibly still be? I dunno, I'm bad at sensing these things), though many people just shrugged and played. Not really sure how to describe the story... complex and weird? A psychological mind-eff?  I just know that as a much younger gamer, I had difficulty wrapping my head around it the first few times (and oddly, playing the Xenosaga series helped me to understand it, even though they're technically unrelated). But I had a lot of fun playing it. The only universal complaint you might hear is that the "disc 2" portion isn't as great as "disc 1," because much of the gameplay has been reduced to the player basically sitting through half a disc of text (though you do get to play in between, and more toward the end). I believe this was due to time constraints.

Weirdly, I get called back to 600AD, or Guardia forest in either 600AD or 1000AD. I can't describe that feeling I get walking into it and hearing that music. A forgotten but warm place locked away but ready to return like an old, dependable friend. That just happens to be full of hungry monsters

The second memory, even more weirdly, involves the three times I had to go through the Black Omen. Navigating semi-familiar halls in the aftermath of the Ocean Palace disaster, being reminded that Schala was lost forever  (well, that we knew of...at the time). But as much as I despise that dungeon, it was great EXP. And that BGM kicks such ass. Definitely one of my favorites, along with To Far Away Times, Magus' theme and Corridors of Time/Time Circuits. Frog's theme and Determination come pretty close too.

Wait until you start "redrawing" recruits you already have... ugh.  :( Though at least it does increase the character's light/shadow points or something. Which apparently is good for their stats, I guess.

Guess it's a sign I need to recruit more characters when I try a quest and my highest level characters don't make a dent in the enemy defense

I'm only up to 20 recruits (yeah, I can afford to recruit more but I get paranoid about not having chronos stones) but am in the process of leveling up anyone who can actually fight those underwater creatures.
