News Submissions / Not a Chrono Album...but
« on: February 01, 2022, 06:06:05 pm »
So I know I haven't been very active...life has been very strange the past two years (as I'm sure it has been for all of you as well.), but I wanted to share my latest project with all of you.

More importantly, track 7: To Far Away Times

This isn't a Trigger album, but this song was always a favorite of mine, and was something that I had to include when working on a hybrid compilation album. I wanted to share it with you guys, and I hope you enjoy!

News Submissions / Chrono Cross/Trigger orchestral album (Official)
« on: July 05, 2019, 03:06:43 pm »
I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but apparently Square is releasing a new set of orchestral albums for Cross and Trigger.

It's unclear to me if these will be new arrangements or if they will just be re-recordings of previous arrangements.  It doesn't look like Mitsuda is arranging them, but he is "supervising"...whatever that means.

It looks like 20 tracks between all three discs and looks to be a Japan exclusive at this point.

General Discussion / Help me Obi-wan Kenobi...

Hey guys, so as most of you probably know I've been working on a Chrono Cross arrangement album called Cross Symphonic for the past year. As the project has developed and gone through some ups and downs, I decided to have the album recorded by a live 75 - 95 piece orchestra and a 30 voice choir with a release date in November to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Japanese release.

In order to do that I need to raise a pretty hefty chunk of cash... $150K to be exact.  This covers all fess, recording, post production, album production, marketing, artwork, physical production, distribution, etc. I've spent the last two months pulling together quotes, schedules, licensing information (with the help of Boo!), and a myriad of other production related info to get a solid budget together before I launch a Kickstarter on February 4th.

I had the opportunity recently to meet with someone that has had tremendous success with crowd funding.  His number one suggestion, and he couldn't stress this enough, was to find as many people as possible that will commit to donating to the campaign on the first day, even if it's only $10.  Apparently, if you can get a minimum of 100 pledges to a campaign on the first day it significantly boosts your projects ranking on Kickstarter, and can often land you a front page spot for their trending projects which leads to huge organic reach.

I'm setting up rewards for the campaign now, and will have something set up for the early bird donations.  Likely a physical album at a lower price point, and possibly another perk or two.  Would any of you be interested in donating on February 4th? I would be happy to share a track or two with all of you if you'd like to hear something from the album, and welcome any feedback you might have!

I'm putting a list together of potential day one backers, so let me know if you're interested! (It will help me gauge how many early bird spots to open up!)

Polling / Chrono's Spiritual Successor

That's some really interesting stuff.  I would have liked to play through those to see how/what you guys changed/added.

Certainly an interesting premise to say the least. I would have loved to be involved with those back in the day...though like everyone else, I wouldn't have been good for much beyond idea generation and may some music.  Even there, most fan projects I've seen prefer to use the original soundtrack.  I don't know if that's from lack of expertise, or just the nostalgia factor.  Maybe both?

I wish we could take all of these great ideas/talent and develop our own game inspired by Chrono.  I would score that in a heart beat!  Though again, the biggest obstacle would be coders/programmers. It would be so cool to take something in the same vain as the Chrono Break trailer that was released a few months ago and develop it for the Switch, or something like that.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / How did I miss this?

So I've been playing Chrono Cross about once every year or two since it came out, and I've never heard of the Criosphinx until today!  :picardno

What is this monster, and how do I fight it?!

Hi All!

I really wanted to enter this contest, and had every intention of writing a new piece for it...but things happened, and I ran out of time.

I was writing this piece centered around Kid for Cross Symphonic last week, and got to thinking.  This piece is just as much about Schala as it is about Kid. As I wrote I tried very much to not only represent Kid, her story, and her turmoil through the music, but to also subtly include Schala and her influence over Kids life.  The two are both strong representations of the legacy of Zeal for me.  Schala in her gentle grace and beauty.  Kid in her strength and determination.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! This was a fun track to write, and I always appreciate any feedback!

News Submissions / Cross Symphonic - A cinematic Chrono Cross album
« on: December 31, 2017, 06:09:01 pm »
Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

I wanted to share a project that I'm working on with everyone! I'm a classical/film composer who also happens to be a huge fan of the Chrono series, and Yasunori Mitsuda's music. So as a pet project, I decided to re-imagine one of my favorite games and it's soundtrack as if it were a movie score. This album is still in development, but will also be accompanied by a beautiful hand drawn art book that helps depict the scenes in each track.

This is a high quality, rough, full-length preview of track 02 from my upcoming album "Cross Symphonic" which takes the soundtrack for Chrono Cross and gives it a cinematic re-telling of the story via symphonic orchestra and choir.

I also have preview tracks of the 1st track, and a portion of the 3rd and 4th tracks if anyone is interested!

I hope you enjoy, Let me know what you think!
