General Discussion / Re: How do we get CT characters in Smash?
« on: June 15, 2018, 03:15:07 pm »So back in the days of Smash Bros on, I believe it was the Wii, there was an extremely active Smash modding community. They reskinned character models and eventually got to the point where they could manipulate the meshes to a very small degree; eventually the group I followed got shut down with a C&D (hmmm... that sounds very familiar).
Regardless, they were able to make a decent Crono model using one of the Fire Emblem guys as a base (maybe Ike?). It wasn't perfect but it was a start.
This would have been ~2008.
I tried to do a Google search for it but my Googlefu skill have failed me.
I mean that's neat. But genuine recognition from Square and Nintendo would be nice.

General Discussion / Re: How do we get CT characters in Smash?
« on: June 13, 2018, 05:51:30 pm »First Squenix has to do something relevant with the franchise, as in no more half-baked ports but a real remake or sequel. Then get it on Switch or 3DS.
Kingdom Hearts is another good chance. I mean, Neku is there, seriously wtf (except KH3 is the last one I think? I'm not into the series so I'm not sure). Then also get it on Switch.
I harbor this idea that Smash could be a testing ground for gauging interest. If Crono was a DLC character, they could have a direct look at sales and see how interested the audience is, outside of their constant porting. But the trick is getting Nintendo to think Crono is viable enough to look into.
That's what I think anyway. If the huddled masses of CT fans can make whole fan sequels, why not try making enough noise for this? I just dont know how its doable. Like how did fans clamor for Riddley? Petitions? Meme magic?

I mean seriously. What's the way to do it? Obviously I could complain about it every time they put a new one out, but is there an intelligent, organized way to go about it?
Edit: Couldn't hurt to try

Sorry wrong place (sort of). Underground Ruins, you grasp a ledge and move sideways. Here:

So, at this point, I could be totally out of this mind. And this probably doesn't mean anything.
But I'm almost sure that I heard a guard whistling Frog's Theme in Thief (in the House of Blossoms section). Am I nuts? Has anyone else heard this?

Site Updates / Re: SPIRAL POWER
« on: October 02, 2012, 02:15:11 am »
Just goes to show you how little love the Chrono community gets from the outside world, that the latest site update is a video of a turtle ramming into a pole. There can be no greater metaphor for a community of fans analyzing a series from the 90s and waiting for the next game.
Man I'm depressed now.

Wait! No! Peeked at the other movie thread. Someone said Ryan Gosling for Crono. Happiness.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Live action roles speculation
« on: October 06, 2011, 12:20:41 pm »Indeed, Bradly James would make an ideal Cyrus. He would also be a good candidate for a young Cedric Guardia, come to think of it.
I've already mentioned my casting choices for a live action movie in another thread, but here is a recap with a few changes in the supporting cast. More important than their individual qualities is their ability to act in an ensemble. Incidentally, these would also be good choices if the film were entirely CG animated:
Crono: Zac Effron (Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.)
Marle: Hayden Panettiere (Honestly, there's no one else who comes even close to looking like a real-life Marle. She would own this role.)
Lucca: Nicki Clyne (The most important member of the cast. She turned a minor role in Battlestar Galactica into a fan-favorite. She would bring a lot of thought and passion to this most iconic of characters.)
Glenn: Sean Bean - voice (Glenn would have to be a CG creation in order for the character not to look ridiculous. He also has to be voiced by someone seasoned. Liam Neeson would also be a good choice.)
Robo: Hugo Weaving - voice (Hugo's second robot after Megatron. Robo will give him a lot more latitude to act.)
Ayla: ??? - voice (Very hard to visualize. Needs to be an experienced voice actor to give Ayla both primitive charm and soulful passion.)
Magus: Zachary Quinto (Portrayal needs to be both dark and subtle. Sylar and Spock combined.)
Gaspar: Max Von Sydow
Belthazar: Ian McKellan
Melchior: Edward James Olmos
Schala: Ellen Page
Dalton: Jim Carrey
Empress Samele Zeal: Sandra Bullock
King Malcolm Guardia (Marle's father): Bruce Boxlightner
King Aldren Guardia (Leene's husband): ??? (Character is going mad. Other than that, the only thing I can visualize is that Aldren is in his early 40s.)
Spekkio: John Rhys Davies - voice (Spekkio speaks with a combination of god-like authority and mischievous glee.)
So far, I like this best. Though with some moments.
Zac Effron?? I mean. Really? I don't think he's terrible or anything. But I just can't see that. Maybe if it was an entirely animated film. But live action?? The trouble with this is, its hard to visualize anybody live-action as Crono because I picture actors in my head with crazy spiked red hair. Not that they'd have to do that in a movie (though not live action, I like how Advent Children toned down the cartoony features of the FF7 characters into something almost reasonable).
But yeah. Hmmm. I can't really think of anyone off the top of my head, part of the problem being that Crono is mute in the game. I'd cast someone like James Franco for Crono. Gahh. Dissatisfaction.
Instead of Jim Carrey, I'd suggest Christophe Waltz as Dalton. Waltz can be villainous and funny at the same time, without all the over-the-top insanity of Jim Carrey. Though Carrey is capable of good acting, I think Waltz would be better.
The real one that got me was Sandra Bullock though. I have never seen any movie that she's been in that would make me want to cast her in anything. Especially not to portray all the menace of Queen Zeal.
Personally, I'd go with Cate Blanchett as Queen Zeal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHOhPvWlSQc&feature=player_detailpage#t=36s

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Why kill off everyone we knew in CT?
« on: December 10, 2010, 04:02:28 am »
Why not? Its pretty compelling knowing that beloved characters died or are missing. Obviously, if this bugs you, then the plot is successful.
The other answer is that its part of the story. Writers don't always have strict control over what happens in a story. The best stories are organic, and for Kato it could've been that this story went in this other direction and he just went along for the ride.

General Discussion / Re: Whats YOUR Favourite Game?
« on: November 12, 2010, 04:04:37 pm »
Yeah I tend to have favorite game series as opposed to favorite games:
Chrono Trigger & Cross
Metal Gear Solid (I haven't played 4 yet, but I'm sure its awesome)
Final Fantasy VII
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (the Zelda series in general, but this is the best in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Diablo II
Goldeneye

This is so difficult to read! I don't know whether I should just stay away for months so that I have more to read at once, or keep checking for every new comic!
Well done!
