Is it just me or did Zeality's rant disappear?

General Discussion / Wireless n00b
« on: September 16, 2007, 03:12:24 am »
I'm thinking of going wireless, internet-wise, but I have absolutely not idea where to start. The CNET guide is way too confusing, and there's just way too much to consider. What's an access point? What's the router? What's the switch hub thingo? Basically, all I want is to be able to connect a PC, a laptop and a 360 all to the same internet service. How do I do this? What hardware should I use to go about this plan?

Thanks in advanced.

Well? If possible, add a link to the song. Maybe it's on youtube somewhere. Mine one was on it, unexpectedly.

I'd play The Spiritualized's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, and excellent song on their album of the same name, based off Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel.

EDIT: Don't say "But I will never get married". I probably won't either, but some songs just come off as wedding songs, so list 'em.

General Discussion / A book review site
« on: September 11, 2007, 02:25:53 am »
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a book review site with dickhead elitist reviewers, and ususally give pretentious books extremely high or extremely low reviews (usually for the same reason)? Ok, doesn't have to fit exactly into that criteria, but around that would be nice.

Don't ask, by the way.

General Discussion / APEC 2007
« on: September 09, 2007, 07:57:32 pm »
Wow, now THAT was security. Everywhere you looked, police was there. Definetely overkill. Police arrested a man for jaywalking, and arrested people for being in the restricted zone when they weren't in the restricted zone. Er, ok. They beat peaceful protestors and pushed everyone around. Yep, definetely security overkill.

Funny how comedy team Chaser's War on Everything could get past two security checkpoints. This is what happened. They were planning on going to the first security checkpoint with fake passes, and getting rejected. Good for a laugh.

However, police accepted these passes and let them through! They kept going through the city, pretending to be the Canadian motorcade, with the flag and everything, and police didn't even realize that the Canadian leader hadn't even arrived yet. They stopped 10m in front of Bush's hotel, where Chas went out of the car, dressed up as Osama bin Laden.

That's APEC security for you.

Overall, horrible couple of days, and the only good part was the public holiday.

General Discussion / System Shock 2
« on: September 02, 2007, 01:52:17 am »
After hearing about Bioshock, I decide to get me System Shock 2, to get myself into the whole mood. And what a mood!

I just passed training, and I'm on the first level. This is normal mode. I'm also a scary/FPS game veteran (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Halo). Then why is it that every time I see a monster, or I hear a monster, I'm scared shitless. I jump out of my skin. I keep mashing my LMB. The enemies are cliche monsters, they are easy to kill, and I even turned the brightness up heaps. So why am I still fucking scared every time I see one of them!

Dream Splash I - Zeal [2007] / Just a question
« on: August 31, 2007, 05:41:10 am »
After Dream Splash 1 is finished, and number 2 begins, will this forum be deleted? Or merged with a "Previous Dream Splash" forum? Or maybe you can do something where a forum topic (Site Discussion, Fan Creation and Feedback) is Dream Spash, and all the old ones are hidden til you expand it?

General Discussion / Health to the Care
« on: August 29, 2007, 09:04:04 am »
Seeing as how Michael Moore's Sicko! is about to come out/came out, we may as well discuss healthcare in different countries, or our own. Cuba having a good healthcare system is news to me, so I guess I don't know much about how the world's health care systems work, but all I know is is that Australia's is alright, but it's getting wrose.

I've seen the size YM on the net before for Tshirts, but what exactly does it stand for?

General Discussion / I-Doser
« on: July 06, 2007, 02:13:32 am »
I'm downloading these I-Doser mp3 files which claim to give you the same effect as the drug it tries to mimic (or experience, like out of body or lucid dreams). For anyone who's tried it, I want to know a few things:

Is it safe?
Is it addictive?
Does it freakin' work?

EDIT: This is crazy stuff.

General Discussion / My DS Lite is dirty
« on: June 24, 2007, 07:12:31 am »
To all ye DS lite owners: You know the plastic casing that surrounds the edge of the DS? Well, I got dirt in it. Does anyone know how to clean it without breaking the casing? I tried to use a toothpick/pin, but it ends up pushing the dirt to the corner.

General Discussion / Islands, islands, islands!
« on: June 18, 2007, 08:20:31 am »
O Compendiumiites! With your wide knowledge and expertise in the fine arts of literature, may you enlighten me by allowing me to share in your wisdom in the use of islands as symbolisms in text! For example, ye, texts which USE an island as a SYMBOL! And of course, what and how the island symbolises!

All, of course, to expand my knowledge! Not for a school assignment of any sort! !

General Discussion / Musix Mixerx
« on: June 04, 2007, 04:36:33 am »
I want to get into mixing/recording/creating music on computer software, but I don't know where to start. I heard Acid was pretty good, as is Kinetics, but only because those are the only two I know :P So can any music nerdz help me with my musical predicament?

(I don't want to pay much, or at all if possible)

General Discussion / Texts Which Explore Good and Evil
« on: May 28, 2007, 07:46:59 am »
School assignment requires I define good and evil, and list ten texts which explore these ideas, and imply that humanity is either good or evil. I already have A Clockwork Orange, Heart of Darkness, Roshomon, Scarlet Letter, Jekyll and Hyde and the Bible, but I need a few more. The problem isn't that I can't find some texts, but that they all talk about how, well, how frankly shit we are. What books or films imply we are inherently good?

P.S. Don't say Lord of the Flies as an 'evil' text, we are doing that in class.
P.P.S. Don't say Mr. Good as a 'good' text, it's been done.

General Discussion / Australia vs. Zimbabwe
« on: May 15, 2007, 06:56:41 am »
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2007/05/13/ucaus13.xml

"Australia have banned their national cricket team from touring Zimbabwe, saying they do not want to hand a propaganda coup to the "Gestapo"-like regime of "grubby dictator" Robert Mugabe."

What the hell?! This is the stupidest thing I've heard. Childish bickering between nations is funny, and I guess a country is allowed to not like the leader of another country, but not allowing a cricket team to play another country because of political differences is fucked up. Why would you mix politics and sport? If Iran and USA could put their differences aside during the Football world cup...anyone can.
