Kajar Laboratories / About CT (and CC/RD) scripts
« on: February 11, 2023, 08:49:07 pm »
I'm planning to play a bit with chatbots, and thought if there was any scripts of the game to extract the lines of each character to feed an AI to chat like one of them on Discord.

Although i know there is scripts for the games posted here, i noticed those txt files are formatted in a way that i don't know how to get the lines of a specific character programatically, needing to resort to manually copying and pasting each line to a organized text file to feed the ai (i don't wanna do it).

So, my question is: Is there any script to one (or both) the games that have the lines organized (each in a single line, no whitespace or line breaks) and relatively easy to parse programatically?

Chrono News / Re: Another Eden x Chrono Cross Collaboration
« on: December 06, 2021, 05:40:34 am »
I was left in doubt regarding the collab: does that mean that the connection between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross got retconned?

The news i read was kinda insinuating that, if a CC remake gets in the way, they could "redo" the connections with Chrono Trigger to make it tie with Another Eden instead.

Honestly i never read anything similar happening even in other forms of media.

Those limitations can't be dodged using enhancment chips (like SA-1, SuperFX, Cx4 or DSP)? Well, SNES even had pseudo-3D (Star Fox and Yoshi Story) thanks of its chips...

Hello. Long time no see!

I'm in a vibe to watch videos about retrogaming and i stumble across several nice quality homebrews for Super Nintendo and Genesis, and in a talk in quertymodo server on Discord i was told MSU-1 can load additional data (not only music/FMV) to the game (and the MSU-1 support can be checked as well). Also i discovered some devs started to add enhancement chip support for games who doesnt have it by default, like Super Mario World using SA-1 (relevant links: Reddit, Github 1, Github 2, Github 3).

Once i read on these forums a "demake" of Chrono Cross could only be done in FF6 due to simpler combat style and chibi graphics, and maybe to the ROM space issues.

But with MSU-1 around and further knowledge about the other enhancement chips of SNES, i was thinking if now, considering only technical points and not SE nibbing fans feets, it would be truly feasible to make a hack for CT, using MSU-1 and other chips if necessary, to make finally a Cross demake for CT engine.

Fan Art / Re: Recent original CT art
« on: August 26, 2020, 09:21:53 pm »

Well, since I'm here, I see it's been a while since I posted any art, so I should fix that. I've been doing a lot of freelance work lately so most of my artistic energy has gone towards that rather than Chrono, but I still try my best to find time for it where I can. This posts' offerings might be a little sketchy compared to my other, more refined pieces.

Started sketching in a new style, did a Marle. And also an Ayla on a dinosaur mount, because I think that riding them would be really cool in a remake or something. (See, I can draw characters other than Lucca+Glenn!)

Just kidding, we're back to Lucca. This one's for a Cross Rewrite/AU where Dalton makes her his guru, seeing as she's the only person with approximate knowledge to them in the modern era. You can probably guess how much she enjoys that.

A sketch with some color. No idea if horses exist in the Chrono canon but if they did, I imagine Lucca could probably not ride them. Glenn is great with them though.

Sometimes when I don't have time to properly sketch an illustration idea I just go into ms paint and doodle it. Not my best but people seemed to like it more than I expected, so why not. Here's Glenn doing as frogs do.

Most recent sketch of an older Lucca and Glenn. Perhaps my deepest and most self-indulgent desire is for them to have gotten married and raised all 10 of those kids from Cross. Assume all of my art takes place in a universe where that happened. My second most deeply self-indulgent desire is that Glenn grows a beard later in life.

WHOA!

Did you have any social networks? If you have Twitter i would totally RT those arts on my fanclub!

I'm currently playing Minecraft: Java Edition and occasionally some emulated games, mainly PS1 ones (testing Duckstation, a new emulator. Really like it).

I tried to play Steam's Chrono Trigger port not long ago for livestream, but got dizzy. I dont know but something in the image (framerate, idk) isnt right on that port.

Other Topics and the Prerelease / Zeal's What if
« on: August 05, 2020, 09:26:48 pm »
I see this topic being brought on CT's subreddit and decided to repost here to see your opinions!

"Hypothetical: If the Queen of Zeal never sought out the power of Lavos, How would the world have been? Would the Zeal descendants have been strong enough to fight Lavos in 1999?"

Hello!

If anybody here speaks Portuguese i want to let you know i've (re)created not long ago a discord server for my Chrono fanclub, ChronoMania!

If you have interest in joining, the invite link follows!

Obrigado!

EDIT: Server is to be deleted again due to lack of interest of portuguese-speaking Chrono fans in Discord. That's a shame...

Anyway, the complete reply of one of the members of my Discord server (translated) follows:

I think the problem with this theory is that it is considering that the split caused by lavos falling on the planet and not falling on the planet is the same type of split that exists between home and another which does not seem to be since the reptites' timeline comes from a parallel universe whose existence does not depend on timetravel of any kind which differs from the split of keystone-1 to keystone-2 (names of the timeline in the image above) since keystone-2 only exists because of the timecrash.

Another observation in this theory is that Radical Dreamers events are observed in chronopolis as if Radical Dreamers were a parallel reality whose existence would be independent of Cross's universe.

What really gets me stuck with this theory is that I don't think that the split existing by a time travel results in two real and distinct temporal existences, the new timeline exists in the real universe while the old one is sent to Zurvan, despite the Chrono Cross restore the balance between the timelines I can't see how he would play all possible Zurvan timelines, which are imaginary, in one, so I always considered Home and Another two real timelines interconnected because of the kid project and not that one exists for cause of a split caused by a simple time travel.

-> I suppose the real timeline of the reptites could exist in the ideal timeline because of Chrono Cross since it is a real timeline and not imaginary but I discard this line of thought in favor of the real timelines that are unified are just the home ones and another since "angelus errare" interconnects only these two timelines directly and Chrono Cross is used at that specific point as designated by the kid project.

Basically
1 - Anything that exists in Zurvan is not part of the ideal timeline.
2 - Only the real timelines of Home and Another unify because of "Angelus Errare" and no other.

Quote
Ah right, what happens is that when we go to the past we mess up with the events giving Azala an advantage to win the war which makes Crono & co necessary to maintain the timeline in which Azala’s descendants are destroyed by Lavos. I simply assumed that Dinopolis came from a different timeline where Lavos never fell to the ground. Considering the end of Trigger 'Dino Age', it is observed that 'Crono' is a reptile and exists in a world very similar to the original timeline, while Cross’s reptiles supposedly evolved differently and more integrated with the planet , so much so that the technology of the elements they use is quite different from human technologies. Since the repeats of 'Dino Age' seem too similar to the way humans evolved in the original timeline, I simply assumed that Dinopolis is from a different timeline, but I suppose it is possible for 'Dino Age' to lead to the creation of Dinopolis eventually.

Theoretically, Lavos needs to exist in the ideal timeline, only he is defeated in 1999 before everything is destroyed, it needs to exist because Zeal theoretically would have existed magic is something inherent in the way that humanity evolved with Lavos' assistance.

Zurvan = Sea of dreams, is mentioned in the perfect end of Cross and Masato Kato mentioned it in an interview once (Link).

When I differentiate between real timeline and imaginary timeline I am making use of Zurvan. Real timeline is everything that exists in the universe in a material way while all the possibilities of timelines exist in Zurvan in an abstract way, in zurvan there are all dreams, imaginations, thoughts, ideas. When Lucca wonders at the end of the trigger about what happens to the timeline that is no longer allowed to exist, at the perfect end of the Cross, Kid says that they will return to Zurvan the sea of dreams. So in the DS Trigger they give the name of the merger of Sara and Lavos of Dream Devourer, existing materially in a place that he shouldn’t exist he started to feed on Zurvan’s dreams, within the dreams the denied timelines, only that any real timeline that exists from a change it is always dependent on a denied timeline, as if there was a kind of "quantum entanglement" (for lack of a better word) between them, eventually devouring the timelines denied in Zurvan, Dream Devourer begins to devour time itself by becoming Time Devourer.

Great hypothesis, i shared a translated version of your essay on my brazilian fanclub (on Discord), and some members raised a yellow light about it mentioning the concept of Zurvan (the Sea of Dreams, where, according to Schala, all dreams eventually return).

I could paste here some interesting answers but Google translate likes to mangle some slangs and abbreviations.

News Submissions / The Chrono Memorial edition
« on: July 08, 2020, 07:00:02 pm »

What are you seeing is, for me, one of the greatest treasures "rediscovered" by the Chrono fandom, specifically by @thatradicaldreamer on Instagram (original post).

The original text follows:

Quote
Here’s a post I’ve wanted to redo for a while now,
The beautiful and Amazing Chrono Memorial!

This Double sided box is a truly incredible collectors piece for a fan of either of the two games,
This box is a limited item “not for sale” reservation bonus.

Only 3000 were made, and could only be obtained by pre ordering both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross at FamilyMart stores in Japan.

The case was then mailed out afterwards to the purchasers.

Not much info remains about this item, which is why most fans have never seen or even heard of it.

Even with all of my searching, items, magazines, i have only found ONE magazine with the tiniest mention of the box.

All other information regarding this box has been obtained from other owners/collectors/sellers who obtained it at release.

Some of my fellows who also own this amazing piece-
@vinylfantasy14 @soracloud3924 @hanjukuhero @gh05t_girl

I really don't know if you guys are already aware of this, but for me it was such a shock to learn about.

Chrono Trigger Modification / A silly question...
« on: July 06, 2020, 03:22:59 pm »
Is even technically possible to make a translation for the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger?

I'm asking because here in Brazil a lot of folks still have functional PS2, and for reasons beyond i realize (MAYBE its because there are fan translations for Portuguese for the SNES version while the PS1 one doesnt have any, but it can be because a lot didnt even realize there was a native and official port to PS1) they use a crappy build of SNES9x ported for PS2 architeture. That emulator have a lot of issues, and imo is very annoying to play any SNES game on it.

I was searching on internet about the subject and all what i found was the PS1 is kinda strange in the background; it pulls data from an internal SNES ROM but not the script (?!)

So, any kind of hacking on that internal ROM could or not be playable on the PS1 version?

Chrono Trigger Modification / Per-character script
« on: June 18, 2020, 12:02:50 pm »
Not sure if the correct forum, but i'm searching for a complete script separated per character (like one sheet for Marle, other for Lucca). I know there's complete scripts but some lines are ambiguous of who character spoke each, making difficult to separate manually.

I have plans to set up a simple markov chatbot which will "learn" using the lines of a character to answer similar they did.

Thanks in advance for all help, and sorry if posted in wrong section!
