Well, nowadays dyes are permanent, because are non-organical. The hair dyes in the past were organical, and they worn off.
Furthermore, it is perfectly possible that it was some kind of magical makeup... why isolating a chemical compound when you can charm your hair to look like a certain color?.
Also, i don't really share that point of view that Schala wouldn't dye her hair due to her beliefs. You are assuming that hair dye is to set oneself out... i hardly see it that way. I would dye my hair if i liked my hair better to be in other color i liked.
Instead, if it was a royal dye-makeup for the royal family (Schala's, Janus' and Zeal's skins are also purplish), it wouldn't be any different than wearing the royal clothing she wears. Or will you say that her clothing doesn't stand her out from the Earthbound Ones?
Fruthermore, if Schala couldn't even oppose her mother about the use of the Mammon Machine, where her convictions were so strong... how could she oppose to her mother making her wearing a royal make up?

General Discussion / I need a bit of advice

Yeah, Legend of Dragoon is a great option ^_^ Great story, plot twists, moving ending. Takes some time to level up: i used an emulator to play it and it is much better; in this game there is a thing that is called "additions", that is a chain of attacks where you have to push the attack button timedly, to successfully complete the combo, for major damage. If you master them, you don't need to level up that much, and to do them well, the emulator savestates are great

I care about the plot more than game mechanics, and back then I wanted to get through the games as fast as possible.
Oh, well. It's nice to know someone who's considered to be one of the best Chrono theorists never beat the game fairly. {:
Yeah, as if time-travelling to change the future is fair. To Lavos, it was decidedly un-fair.
Oh, poor thing.
I know. Have none of you pity on him?
No.
All it needed was love. All it asked from us was some R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / What exactly is the Chrono Cross?

Yeah, chaning bodies would be SO helpful. Being as FATE is a computer, I doubt it would help them.
Maybe they intended the tear to be sort of Trojan Horse. You know, something tempting for FATE to use in her advantage, but that would end up turning against her.

Legend... ever heard of love at first sight? I am assuming that Schala, from the tesseract, can feel the emotions of many people across space and time. We, in our daily lives, come across many people, who is in pain. And we don't give it much thought. But sometimes we find someone whose emotions, whose pain, touch us very deeply, without a particular reason.
Schala felt an emotion, a pain, that deeply connected with her, somehow. She fell in love with him. At first sight.

Furthermore, being enclosed in the tesseract (that is like an independent bubble of space-time), the Time Devourer would be quite safe from any grandfather paradox.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Norstein Bekkler, who is he?
« on: July 27, 2005, 08:28:55 pm »
Well, the FF has a will on its own, so probably it wouldn't be a problem for it to move to other place to be found. Problem is: how is it independent from Lavos? Even if it was a part of Lavos, is it connected to it anymore?
Mammon Machine is stated to be used to draw power from Lavos, who is in the mantle of the planet. Meanwhile, the FF has an awful lot of power on its own... why would it be used to draw power from Lavos?
Questions

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Picture of a Chronopolean
« on: July 27, 2005, 08:17:41 pm »
Well, in CT, even when saying elements for Lightning, Fire and Ice/Water, they are not really elements, as they are in CC. I would call them better magic "flavours". It would make sense that, when you master the three flavours and mix them, you can develop a 4th flavour: shadow.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Hehe, something ironic I just figured out

In any case, i prefer that they sacrifice the consistence of the plot for the sake of gameplay and fun experience sometimes you can't have all.

General Discussion / A Chrono dream
« on: July 27, 2005, 12:19:15 am »
Yeah, but fantasy stories, as i believe, even though they should have an exotic environment, should represent our social and moral values. If we try to represent social and moral values of the epochs the environment belongs to, we would be doing historical stories-games, not fantasy. Not only that, we would have to throw away all the magic stuff since it is not realistic (magic doesn't exist).
So, nowadays, our society promotes equality between man and women, so it is natural that both sexes appear in similar roles in fantasy stories. This is exactly what literary tradition has always done: using the current time mindset over a ficticious environment. Remember that many painters from the Renaissance, when painting Jesus' like scenes, they clothed people with Renaissance-fashion clothes.
