Characters, Plot, and Themes / Why did Porre invade?
« on: October 17, 2005, 06:05:42 am »
We don't know if it was actually Porre who caused the fall of Guardia. My favourite theory is that by 1005 there was a secession war inside the Guardia empire. Maybe because of non acceptance of the new heir (Crono) due to his lowly origin? Maybe due to latent nationalism?
So maybe the battle in 1005, in front of Guardia Castle, is by a combined army from all the "colonies" of Guardia. And maybe it was later when Porre took the lead, and the hegemony. Maybe because it was Porreand who managed to get hold of the masamune? In 1005 Masamune was "clean". In 1020, it was full of enmity. Maybe Porreans used it to get the supremacy over all the other world nations, filling it with enmity.

Polling / What did you think of Cross's first sidequest?
« on: October 17, 2005, 05:52:55 am »
It made me feel really bad.
I mean, killing animal pups only to collect pieces of their skin... only to do a damn collar! And then you even go and kill the mom who was trying to protect the pups...
I think that plotwise links really well with the general feeling of the game, of how mankind destroys nature selfishly. Related to the hydra/dwarves quest and to the general oppinion of demihumans and dragonians.

Btw, after the French Revolution, the French did change the roman-christian calendar for a new one, called "revolutionary". It had such a big success, and was so widely used among people that noone remembered about it when Napoleon had it removed.

Lavos probably could change his genes... but such alteration should be intent.
And i don't see why Lavos would do that, unless he likes blondes

Hair color is a genetical trait. Hence you would need to change Schalas genes intently to turn her blonde. And still, she wouldn't turn blond by changing her genes, only her clones.

General Discussion / Politics, from "When Zealians Sleep" topic

The reason not to use nukes is not (only) the effects over the victims, or even the global effects (namely, nuclear winter). Up to date, the use of nukes is unthinkable because the utter destruction they would cast acts as a deterrement. But if we decide to unleash it, we would lose our moral restrictions against that kind of annihilation. We ourselves would become monsters, no longer humans.

well, have in account that in CT, the wold map is topologically toroidical, while any realistic planet should be spherical, as seen in the ending of CC... so some continent relocation should be expected.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Lavos and the Beginning

The hedgehog itself is but the spaceship. The one who wants to be like God is the humanoid. As we all do. We all want all the power we can seize, because we know we are not gods.
Lavos kept the planet, the human planet, under tight control. Strieving for control. Would a true god need to fight for such control? A true god has control over anything that needs to be controlled, allowing for free will.

General Discussion / Japanese PS2 on American TVs?
« on: July 28, 2005, 09:03:35 pm »
I am going to America today (i have been staying in Japan), and i bought for my girlfriend a jap PS2, with the some jap-only games ^_^
I have always assumed that a japanese PS2 can be used normally with an American TV set, since both TV systems are NTSC, but i want to make sure ^_^ Do you have any information on the matter? ^_^
Thank you! ^_^

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Schala and Lavos
« on: July 28, 2005, 08:20:17 pm »
Yup.
And Schala's blondeness not being an effect of Lavos is proved by Kid's existence, who is a clone of Schala.
I agree thoroughly with Daniel. Actually, we see part of that Army of Zeal: two guards in front of the Blackbird and many more inside the Ocean Palace. Also all those magical beasts might be part of different divisions of their army.
Ít is obvious that rpgs worlds are terribly underpopulated (or are very small), what leads us to the assumption that in rpgs we are only allowed to visit the "significant" cities... significant for the plot. This is a concept familiar for the one of us who create strategy game scenarios
Lastly: even if Schala's purple hair colour came from a magical spell, it wouldn't stop being a dye. A magical dye, but a dye nonetheless. Ever seen Sailor Moon? Magical Make-Up anyone?

As it was pointed out before, that's Schala's underwear, what she is wearing in the TD.
What is exactly what you don't like about the dying thing? I mean, it is the easiest explanation to the question: "Schala in Zeal has purple hair, and in TD (or even Kid) she is blonde: what has happened?". It is much simpler than any kind of pigmentation/energy draining, since those are process we know nothing about, while about dying, we know a lot.
