Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Why Chrono Cross?
« on: April 10, 2012, 04:04:51 am »
Hmmm, well I guess that does make sense, considering the whole baby Kid thing was there too.

Even so, I don't see how it's a bad thing. So Guardia fell, but it allowed for Porre development. And besides, Chrono Cross hints several times that Guardia has risen again.

Guardia has prospered for a thousand years, and sometimes at the expense of other nations. Does it really come as a surprise that it might fall? And when they added the whole Dalton thing it just made it more awesome in my opinion. He got his little revenge on Crono & co and is probably responsible for the invasion of El Nido.

Guardia fell in TRIGGER, not in CROSS. Remember that nice Trigger ending FMV with Guardia soldiers being violently murdered?

Don't blame Cross for sh*t Trigger did.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Who are the Radical Dreamers?
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:38:54 am »
The Radical Dreamers in Chrono Cross are referenced as a well-known group of thieves on the mainland. Several characters reference to the group and Lynx references directly to Kid as a member of the group.

So, if Kid ran around on the mainland stealing stuff here and there, I can understand how that rumor may have gotten around. What I don't get is why Kid herself refers to the Radical Dreamers as if it were an actual group.

Who are the Radical Dreamers? How many members are there? As far as I know it's just Kid, but she seems to think herself that it's an actual group. Or she may be referring to herself as the "Radical Dreamers", which is quite... Strange. If she really does refer to herself as the Radical Dreamers while knowing she's the only member, it sounds to me like she has some issues...

Hmmm.... So which version is canon?

Fairies are attacked and dwarves repent after hearing of the Hydra child ? Fairies are attacked but survive albeit with a hatred for humans ? Or fairies are attacked and completely wiped from the island forever ?

I guess this is another one of those "choose what you like best" things.

That is odd. I chose to not do the Hydra Marshes quest, but did visit Water Dragon Isle for the Ice Breath and fought the dwarves. Then way later while coming back to fight the Water Dragon, the fairies were still there and the Lagoonates were only roaming around the other areas.

I wonder, though. Is there a path to take in which the fairies never die? I can't recall.

Far as I know, there isn't. It's either the Dwarfs or the Lagoonates, which by the way, I didn't knew about, interesting. Then again, I always go there to get the Ice Breath no matter which path I took.

To be fair, the Lagoonates appear later and merely wander around the areas not inhabited by the fairies. The island should be big enough for more then one species to live on. Plus they didn't attack the fairies, nor appear to be fighting or hindering them at all.

Whereas the dwarves outright attacked the village, killing everyone in sight, and attempting to claim the island as their own.

So while playing Chrono Cross again, I remember how much it baffles me that not only the fairies, but also the dwarves themself blame the humans for driving them from the forest and being the cause of the fairy genocide.

Did I miss something here? If I recall, back in Hydra Marshes, the dwarves were LITERALLY trapping wandering fairies in cages and feeding them to monsters because they thought it was funny.

How is it possible that the dwarves see themselves as the protectors of nature when they violently attack other races for no apparent reason, or commit genocide on a fairy village, even bringing a goddamn TANK?

Having to hear the fairies' speech about how humans are so evil because they chased away the innocent dwarves just always annoys me so much. Just had to get this off my mind.

Hello,

I just got an american PS2 so I can play Chrono Cross. However, the game crashes when I leave Opassa Beach after crossing the dimensions for the first time. The screen just goes black when I try to leave and it stops working.

The opening cinematic also crashes in the scene with the journal, forcing me to skip it.

The CD does have some scratches on it, but I didn't think it was so bad. Could there be any other reason Chrono Cross is not working right?
