Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Lynx in Home World
« on: September 30, 2005, 04:30:31 pm »
From what I remember, go to Steena in Home World (I think it's home) and she'll give you the dragon tear.  Then take it to Fort Dragonia in Another and go to where you and Lynx had switched bodies.  You'll get your old body back and the Tear of Love.  That is, if you do have the blessings of all 6 dragons.

Same with me, I went with characters as opposed to innates.  For me, I liked Serge as Serge, Kid, Glenn, Karsh, and Harle.

Yeah you can.  And let me say, what a useful tool it proves to be.

I'd have to say that Chronopolis and the Dead Sea are definitely my favorites.  I love the background infor that each give, and as said before, the air of mystique is all about those places.

The one I couldn't stand though was the Marbule song quest.  This is mostly because Nikki's concert was entirely too long.  If it wasn't your second time through, it is unbearable in terms of length.  I just didn't like that... although for the rainbow equipment, it was worth it.

General Discussion / Should I play FF7?
« on: September 16, 2005, 06:01:27 pm »
Yeah, it's a decent game, but not the best game ever.  It's got it's good points and its bad, like any game.  I do have to agree with Kazuki though, I liked the beginning Midgar stuff best.  Save the planet, blow stuff up.

The end boss, I also felt, was entirely too easy.  What they should have done is make the boss(es) proportionate to the level of your character, like Spekkio in CT or bosses in the Lunar series.  Or at least make him as hard as either of the Weapons (Ruby or Emerald).

In any case, it is worth at least a playthrough.

I have an idea in response to the "dark characters" if you're still going to keep them in.  Aluding to the split in dimensions in Chrono Cross, maybe the "dark" Crono Marle, Lucca, Janus, and whoever else came from Home World / Another World in an attempt to change the timeline, thereby sending the events of Chrono Cross to the Tesseract.  After all, Home world was never meant to take place, supposedly.

Also, it is plausable to have 2 of one character in the same timeline, in at least a different dimensions, as in Chrono Cross.  And, backing up the characters coming from the future in the same dimension, in CT in 600 AD, if you do the Shrine Sidequest, you can have Robo on the field fixing up the forest AND have Robo in your party, having 2 Robo's, same dimension, same timeline, in the same place, at the same time.

Ok, I'm babbling, but it could work...

I can probably give a bit of help with plot and editing too.  If you'd like the help, I'm more than happy to offer it.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Difficulty Levels
« on: September 13, 2005, 12:10:09 pm »
Yeah, I thought CC was harder too.  I kept getting my arse kicked by Miguel.  I was also disappointed by the TD.  I guess my main question with that was why were we fighting a Lavos shell and not the parasite inside... I mean, I think it would have made more sense for Schala to be taken and merged with the inner core than the shell... but that's more plot I have problems with.
The difficulty was more than CT.  But if you do New Game +... entirely too easy.

CT I only had trouble the first time through, and that was only at the Mountain of Woe boss, Queen Zeal and Lavos, mostly because I was unprepared.  OTher than that, easy, but well worth it.

I know the fall of Guardia happens in 1005 AD, but is it possible that it's not totally destroyed?  What I mean by this is on one of the New Game + endings of CC, Kid becomes leader of the Dragoons and goes on to conquer, first, Guardia.  If Guardia has already totally fallen, then is it just a Porre military district or is it still up and running?

Actually he was a Titan.  We just went over the Prometheus story in my philosophy class.

Could it be that Chrono Trggers are the things (people, machines, what have you) that cause the dimensional splits.  Whatever decision or indecision they make creates a new timeline, and likewise a new dimension.

Think of it this way, you have the Lavos timeline.  Then Chrono and Co come in.  That screws with whatever happens with Ayla and Kino.  Their coming could ensure the fate of humans, or as in a New Game + ending, destroy our hope, letting Reptite's rule.

The same could be said of Serge, Kid, Time Devourer and everything.  Serge is a Chrono Trigger.  His actions directly affect more than one dimension.  Thus, it is more than right to name him the Chrono Killer or whatever he was called (been awhile since I played this).  His actions kill many of the different dimensions and futures that Chrono and company create.

Granted, Serge's actions also can create different timelines as well, since now Schala (Kid) is time traveling searching for Serge... What I find funny is that we know she saves him in 1010, so why doesn't she travel to 1010 and save him, and then come back to the exact time after Chrono Cross is finished?  But whatever on that one.

What you also have to consider though is what the world will really be like now that Chronopolis is gone, FATE destroyed, and Dinopolis a never.  Would Lynx even exist?  Would Serge still exist?  And moreover, if there's no Serge, would Lucca be around?  The possibilities are truly endless, as are the plotholes, and new dimensions ripped open by Serge and (the much too large) company.

I could go on for hours about the consequences of choice, action, and chrono triggers, but for now, bed... that is my choice.
