General Discussion / Re: Understanding Square Enix
« on: July 15, 2011, 01:15:59 pm »
Allow me to put Square Enix in terms that we can possibly understand.

Square Enix looks at a project. They look for one thing in that project: $. If they see that the project has potential to bring in $, then they get all  :D about it. If they see that the project has little to no opportunity to MAKE $, they get all :o about it. This negative $ shall now be represented by $

Final Fantasy, to Square Enix, may very well be written as such: F$$$INA$$L FAN$$$$$$$TASY $$$ XI$$$V.

However, it seems that things relating to Chrono Trigger (such as retranslations for the SNES, a port of Chrono Cross, or heaven forbid A NEW GAME) are like this: CHRONO $$$$$$$$$$$$$ BREAK.

Quite frankly, it's not cool, and it's probably not true. But what can we do, man? What can we do.

I remember the news anchors talking about that. I don't remember what all they said about it, but they made it sound like one of those things like 'Can you believe this is happening?'. They have a tendancy to do that. You can usually tell when they're gonna do that because they get this tone of disbelief in their voices as they're introducing the story, they show clips of it over the news music (usually of people going WTF THIS IS NOT RIGHT), and tagging the thing with a ?. Because that makes people go NO.

When you think about it, being taken from your parents can be pretty stressful. Imagine just being a happy little (albeit in this case round) child, hanging out with mommy and daddy. And then out of nowhere some people scoop you up, tell you that mommy and daddy are horrible people, dump you with some new people (in probably a new city, which means a new school to adjust to) who may or may not be absolutely horrible. I think I read somewhere that stress can cause people to GAIN weight. So why would you go and take a child out of their house and put them in an extremely stressful situation, simply because they're fat?

Does not make sense to me.

Okay so, I have a friend from high school. She and I were really close, I guess. However, since graduation, she's been really sick. Impossibly dizzy, nauseous, barely able to do anything. I told her earlier that if she was so sick, she should call a doctor. She said she wouldn't even bother, because the doctors don't do anything.

I'm not sure if I'm frustrated that she's devolved from someone that at one point I would look up to into a needy whiny bitch who would rather have her family tend to her every whim than to try and get help, or that she's probably right in that the doctors won't do anything for her.

I love local pizza joints. Everyone is all like "Pizza Hut ROCKS!" or "Dominos is the best pizza EVER!" or even "I lurv Papa Gino's!". Those are okay. They have their place in the world. But little shops that you'll only find in your town? The kind that nothing else comes close to? Those are the best.

I was finally able to get in touch with my aunt. My bro and I are up at her place now. Yeah sure, I'm sitting on an air mattress that isn't entirely inflated right and I'm stealing some wireless from the neighbors and my back really hurts, but she really loved seeing some fireworks last night. We're not entirely sure what we're going to do now, but we're thinking this will be a regular thing. She's just... happy to have us around, you know?

I love people who leave their wireless unprotected. When I'm in a situation where it's either share an ethernet cable with my brother (who loves his internet just a bit too much), I need some wireless! So I'm glad to see that people leave it unprotected. It's funny, actually. They seem to think that turning it off at night will DETER me! Ha! That's hilarious. I am an internet addict, I will get my fix one way or another!

I hate when my family doesn't follow up on things.

A while back, I posted in the frustration thread that one of my favorite aunts had cancer. She still has cancer. However, when we found out (through my estranged crazy aunt) about this, my parents were like 'HOLY SHIT. WE ARE GOING TO HELP HER ANY WAY WE CAN.' Instead of calling, my mother sent an email. We haven't tried again, we haven't called, we haven't even gone out to visit. We've just sat here, wasting our lives away.

It's just...

You should probably take the action yourself then and call your aunt, or try to arrange a visit.
I plan on it. I'm going to call her later today, when I get in from my adventure, see what's up with her.

Sam's been super excited all day and told me that soon he wants to move out to New York. Alex is happy about it but isn't going crazy, and my crazy parents are saying that the day it happens here is the day we move. How's Fox been handling it?

I'm watching now. It looks like one of the guys is holding the jumpyspinny part of the Galaxy 2 controller while the other has the RUN part. It's pretty intense.

I hate plagiarism. Just because you're not in school anymore doesn't mean it's not a problem.

I dunno if I told this story or not, but my bro wrote a pretty epic essay. A bunch of kids were like 'This is an epic essay! Let's turn it in to the exact same teacher.' The teacher he originally handed it into. The teacher who keeps a pinned copy of the thing at his desk.

My feeling is that we just chalk it up to idiots. Inconsiderate idiots who can't even say 'Oh by the way this was copied straight from the Compendium. Go there. kthxbai'

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Disappeared Kid

I should definitely powerplow through Chrono Cross, just to test that. I'd like to see that.

I've always liked Kid, but maybe it's my male fascination with action girls in very little clothing. For other characters, though, I like Glenn. He's got something to live up to, someone to be, and he's doing his very damned best to be it. The feelings Riddel had for Dario, Karsh basically being next in line and a nasty reminder, trying to be someone he isn't... very intruiging.

I gotta say my least favorite though is that damned flower thing. But that's not the topic at hand.
