Characters, Plot, and Themes / A question about Kino

Also, about the baby falling down the mountain thing. I think it'd have a better chance of living than if an old person (adult) fell. It's like if an ant falls of a cliff, it won't die because it's to small to have impact. The smaller something when it falls from up high, the less impact. The bigger you are, the harder you'll fall :P

A baby is also more fragile than an adult. It is very unlikely that an infant Kino would have survived falling from the Gate. So between that, the many timeline implications, and the fact that most of this discussion is based off of one NPC statement that I have missed every time I played CT, I believe that Kino simply could not have come from the future.

In one of the End of Time threads, wasn't it theorized that the Mystic Mountain Gate is connected to the 1000 AD Mystic's House Gate?

I always thought Proto Dome was the other end of the Gate in Medina (especially since I used that assumption in another thread). On the world maps Proto Dome and Medina are almost on top of each other, while the Mystic Mountains are substantially SW of them.

General Discussion / What exactly IS a rom?!
« on: July 08, 2005, 06:59:11 pm »
For me I would have never played Chrono Trigger without ROMs, let alone come to appeciate what a masterpiece it is. For this reason it is a shame that ROMs are illegal.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Guardia's Odd Inheritance

What is certain is that all of Guardia's monarchs (with the possible exception of one; see the endnote in my first post for more details) have assumed the name King Guardia. However, I would bet my right arm that King Guardia XXXIII has a first name.

This seems logical to me. A parallel can be drawn to the papacy; for example, Pope Benedict XVI was named Joseph Ratzinger, but I imagine he has been nearly exclusively referred to as Pope Benedict since his inauguration.

Luckily, that [moderating the Compendium forums] hasn't been a big job, since people tend to not be assess on this forum.

Except for a few posts in this thread, I would heartily agree with you. I imagine the same can be said for the Chrono Shock forums.

I would just like to point out that so far in this thread we've:

1) Started a neverending and pointless feud between two of the few remaining Chrono websites,
2) Driven away a fellow Chrono fanatic, and
3) Pissed a lot of people off

To me, this does not fit with the goals of either the Compendium or Chrono Shock.

No objections from me, though it will be hard for me to stop saying LUCK-ah.

That's how I say Lavos. I suppose you could also pronounce it LAY-vose, but LAW-vose sounds more sinister to me.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / About Death Peak...

There is no footage of the Apocalypse in Chronopolis that I can find, though there is a text-only description in the left room of the third floor (the one with the pictures of Lavos).

History, Locations, and Artifacts / About Death Peak...
« on: June 02, 2005, 01:57:48 pm »
I watched the "Visual Record of the Day of Lavos" again.

On the 1999 AD world map, Lavos erupts from the middle of the eastern continent. In 1000 AD this correlates with Heckran Cave, WSW of Medina and of the Gate connecting Medina to Proto Dome.

Death Peak is also WSW of the Medina-Proto Dome Gate, and by roughly the same distance. I don't know if it is Lavos's shell, but it certainly seems to have been created by Lavos's awakening, as there is no mountain there in 1999 AD.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Time Traveler's Immunity
« on: May 17, 2005, 02:23:24 am »
I think you guys have the right idea. It seems to me that it doesn't matter how person B came into existence.

The murder of 1003AD person A by person B causes the 1005AD person A to cease to exist because the 1005AD person A is in the affected timestream, and is therefore not granted Time Traveler's Immunity. By contrast, the change made by 1000AD person A in the past causes 1000AD person A to have TTI - in this instance only - because 1000AD person A is outside of the affected timestream when the change occurs.

Hope this makes a semblance of sense.
