Kajar Laboratories / Chrono Cross Written Sequel
« on: February 08, 2011, 01:19:56 pm »
Similar to how Crimson Echoes is a fan sequel to Chrono Trigger, I'm thinking about writing a fan sequel to Chrono Cross. I already have a basic outline done. What I'd like to know is what the fans, you guys, would like to see. Specific characters, places, plot suggestions. After all, I'll be writing it for you.

The story will take place one month after the events of Chrono Cross in the Ideal Timeline (which has run similar to Home World). The protagonist will, again, be Serge, who now has a speaking role.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / El Nido's Poet Girl
« on: January 28, 2011, 12:35:55 am »
Just trying to decipher the poet girl's poem. This seems like a good place to discuss.
Quote
   Insanity leads to chaos,
   Then to solitude...
   The fruitless effort of adding
   Meaning to what is meaningless
   A lone, crimson tear
   Falls to the sea...
The echo of the remaining star
Cries out in the infinite vacuum
   The least I can do
   Is send my distant prayers
   Over the wind of time,
   Setting sail on dreams...

Sticking strictly to Chronoverse, this poem seems to reflect, IMO, Schala. And this is a literal interpretation, so of course feel free to take whatever meaning you wish from it.

The girl lost to time, breeding feelings of insanity, chaos, and solitude--all leading to her determination that life is meaningless. The crimson tear of the now-dead Lavos, once referred to as a star, falls to the sea as the Frozen Flame; its echo, the Time Devourer, lives on in the Darkness Beyond Time, feeding on her negativity. Now bound by the creature, Schala can do nothing but pray and dream...

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Corridor of Time Remix
« on: November 25, 2010, 05:10:47 pm »
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Legend-Of-Square-Meets-Hardcore-/release/1210975

Found an obscure album called "Legend of Square - Meets Hardcore," by artist Minamotoya (Kazuma Minamoto). I don't think the Compendium has it listed for music remixes. Both track #7 and #10 are listed as "Corridor of Time."

Track #7.
Track #10.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see it on the site. Guess I didn't search hard enough. Man, you guys are thorough.

Kajar Laboratories / Project Dreamers
« on: November 01, 2010, 12:00:40 pm »
I feel the Compendium needs a new project, one in which everyone can participate in if they so wanted. Something like ZEAL. So I'm posting this here to garner some interest and ideas from members willing to work with such a project.

Should we reboot the massive ZEAL storyline again? Should we start from scratch with a new plot? Post anything that might be relevant. I personally like how, in Project ZEAL, people could come and go easily; certainly no one felt obligated to stay if a personal matter came up. A new story may not allow such flexibility. Then again, it was that same flexibility which brought the project down, if I remember correctly.

We have plenty of writers. Let's see if we can come up with something.

General Discussion / Mitsuda to Rearrange & Orchestrate Xenogears
« on: October 28, 2010, 12:10:41 am »
Just learned from the Facebook page that Yasunori Mitsuda will be making a new Xenogears CD that "will feature full-orchestra tracks + alpha tracks." A Google translation of his real site confirms this. As of now, those with a Japanese Square Enix Members account can vote for which songs to be rearranged. I may have to do so to make sure Bond of Sea and Fire gets voted for! Here are the links for those interested:

General Discussion / George Bush coming to UNT
« on: October 19, 2010, 12:06:30 pm »
For any Compendiumites here from North Texas, our 43rd President will be speaking at the University of North Texas on November 17th. He may not be on everyone's list of top favorite Presidents, but he led this country during my maturing years, so I think it would be of great benefit (to me) to hear what he has to say.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Lavos & the Dragon Gods
« on: September 12, 2010, 05:05:47 pm »
I remember reading somewhere that the Dragon God(s) was being manipulated/controlled by Lavos in an attempt to secure the Frozen Flame. According to Belthasar,
Quote
The actual Dragon God was consumed long ago ... Integrated by the entity known as Lavos ...

Whether the six remaining avatars were free willed or not the game does not explain. However, if they were being influenced by Lavos, here are some examples to back up my point:

1) We know for a fact the Dragons Gods were themselves manipulating Serge and Lynx in an attempt to steal the Frozen Flame. Harle was created for this purpose.
2) According to theory, Harle was created from the basis of Schala, whom Lavos is integrated with. As such, Lavos may have had a hand in Harle's birth.
3) The Dragon God(s) harbors a deep hatred for humans, similar to Lavos. Its final form also shares an appearance to Lavos.

So suppose the Dragon God was not borrowing these details from Lavos, but instead Lavos was giving them to it? It would finally present a reasoning behind some unexplained motives of the Dragon God, as well as mean that Lavos played an active role in the events of Chrono Cross.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Missing Tablets
« on: June 15, 2010, 02:08:18 pm »
I'm starting another play-though of Chrono Cross today, and I immediately notice something odd. When you speak to Marge a second time, she says this and you are given two choices:

Quote
Weren't you supposed to meet Leena this morning? Hurry along now and go apologize to her. Don't expect me to stick up for you if Leena ever decides to blow you off. You wouldn't want that, right?
*She'd never do that!
*That would be bad...

The choices appear to have no impact on the game, but they do (albeit a microscopic one). In the lower left of Serge's room (near the bottles) is a bunch of 5 Tablets. If you neglect to pick them up, then talk to Marge and select the second choice, the Tablets disappear. It seems utterly pointless, but I thought I'd share.

Kodokami of the Kodo Kompendium Chrono Compendium!

So yeah. I'm back, after a month's hiatus. . .

I brought cake!

It's not your traditional cake, but I thought it looked delicious.

I regret to say that I do not have my fanfic for the Winter's Fragments contest finished. I just never found the time, nor really made the time, I must say. I'm still wondering why. . . But like I said, if I could not get it done for the contest, I would still write it for the Compendium. So expect to see some of it soon.

My journey of self discovery has been a long one, yet at the same time one month seems so short. I guess it would be better to say that my time away has been very productive. But heck, our journeys never end (I even experienced a very important change just yesterday!). So don't waste your time; you can't afford to waste any of it. As I have heard Shee say, "Quit your bitching. Make a difference."

Anyway . . . I'm back! I see there's a lot I've missed, so I better catch up.

It's the start of a new month, and a brand new day. I will make the most of it.

As the subject says...

Life is busy, complicated, and I'm having trouble keeping up with everything. So, just temporarily, I'll be stepping away from the Compendium.

Hoping when I come back I'll have my fanfiction completed.

General Discussion / The Criosphinx's Riddles
« on: January 06, 2010, 01:37:27 am »
I noticed that the Compendium has yet to have a topic for riddles, so here it goes. We could use this as a friendly place to answer and place riddles we have heard or even created ourselves. I thought we all could have some fun trying to answer each others' riddles. :D

To start things off, here is one a friend of mine told me:
You are in a room. There is a door on either side; one door leads to freedom, the other to instant death. Also in the room are two computers; one will answer any question truthfully, the other will answer any question with a lie. You are allowed to ask ONE computer ONE "yes-or-no" question. Not knowing which door leads where or which computer answers truthfully, what question would you ask to assuredly open the door to freedom?

(To say whether I know the answer or not would be proper etiquette, I suppose. For this riddle, I do not know the answer, nor do I believe there to be a definite answer, but have fun anyway. :P)

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / How long is Serge's journey?
« on: December 02, 2009, 10:22:12 pm »
I've been thinking about this, and I can't come to a definite conclusion. If I had to guess, I would say Serge's journey in Chrono Cross is no more than a few weeks, if even that. Regardless, I can't find any clues as to how long the journey actually is, save that it started in summer and that it was still summer when the game ended (though I don't remember where I found that...).

The same question can be asked of Crono and his journey in Chrono Trigger.

Any help?

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Another Look at CC's 2nd Moon
« on: July 21, 2009, 03:59:35 pm »
I have a theory about the second moon in Chrono Cross that I think has yet to be discussed.

Is it possible that the Dragonians (or more specifically the Dragon God) created the red moon while still in the Reptite Dimension?

Think about it; part of the Dragon God's usage was to terraform the planet (as demonstrated by FATE when creating El Nido). Is it too much to assume that it could also create a second moon?

If this were true, then what were its motives? Could having two moons somehow greatly benefit the Dragonian society? Could the moon's creation simply be a demonstration of power? Expanding upon the latter, were there not "exiles" in CT:DS? I believe it's unlikely that even the Dragonians were free from domestic conflicts/warring tribes.

Anyone care to add ideas/opinions?
