Time, Space, and Dimensions / Marle's Great^12-Grandmother Paradox
« on: December 11, 2003, 03:10:09 am »
I have been thinking about this for a couple of days, and was trying to decide if Magus would actually be able to change his past.  In other words, was he doing something completely different than what happened during the first time he witnessed the events in Zeal, or was he merely playing out a roll that had already happened?

This boils down to the question of whther or not the past can truly be changed,  or will history turn out as it should because you tried to change it?

Sorry to go off on a tangent like this, but maybe we can figure out something by figuring out what exactly dreamstone is.  From the name, it sounds like it is a substance that can draw/release power from the dream or spirit world.  This would explain it's dual nature a little better in my opinion.

Since it would be able to manipulate the dream world, it could effect, and be effected by the subconscious of its weilder.  Thus, the sword would be able to reveal a person's true nature.

General Discussion / FFXI

For those who haven't heard yet, Square Enix will be adding PvP to FFXI (in a conquest related form) in an update coming in March. I'm not sure of the exact date, but it would  probably be just before the PS2 version is released.

I will say this about FFXI, it doesn't matter what kind of connection you have (56k or broadband). You will not experience much lag in the game unless you are trying to fight an extremely hard King Behemoth with around 250 other people and a few Game Masters (GMs) for over three hours.

Magic, Elements, and Technology / Evolution of Mystics
« on: December 10, 2003, 04:48:03 am »
Isn't it also possible that mystics are the result of genetic manipulations by Lavos?  Lavos could have actually used the reptites as a blueprint of sorts, which might explain why the mystics are so eager to fight the human kingdom of Guardia.

As for the religion aspect, Square often makes references to Kasmir Shavism (hinduism) with references to shiva and other deities.  As soon as I can track down my stupid AD resource, I will elaborate further on this religion, and the beliefs surrounding Shiva. (I believe a request was made to do this on the old site)

General Discussion / What Kind Of Computer Do You Have?
« on: December 09, 2003, 03:13:57 pm »
To update my previous post, my computer has arrived today.  Unfortunately my mom won't let me use it until Christmas, because it is intended as a Christmas present. I would argue with her, but I really don't care enough to risk my life over a computer that I will have in two weeks.

This is just to continue the thread from the old site to talk about what you think about the game, and what you want to see added/subtracted to/from the game.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / FFC endings help

It has been my opinion since FFC came out and i first saw that ending that the next Chrono game would build on that ending.  I'm still hoping that this will be the case.

I remember reading somewhere (i thought it was in CC, but i could be wrong) that the sword had to have been possessed by a being of immense evil to have changed to the evil sword present in CC.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Rainbow Shell
« on: December 08, 2003, 11:41:00 pm »
It has long been my opinion, and I believe that ybrik posted something to this effect at some point, that the rainbow shell is made from some sort of substance (possibly brought by lavos) that was crushed under the weight of lavos when it struck the planet.  The heat from this (and maybe from the planet's core?) combined with the pressure of lavos sitting on it for 65,000,600 years created an incredibly hard substance known as rainbow.  As for the shape, I'll have to get back to you....

I don't have it yet, but it should be here by Friday.
2.53 GHz P4, 512 MB DDR RAM, 17" Monitor, 16x DVD Rom, 48x CD-RW, don't remember the graphics card.

It's possible that Lavos is not "evil", but merely logical to the extreme. Lavos is not destroying the world simply for the sake of destruction, but rather to make the universe more perfect.  Lavos absorbs and manipulates the dna of everything so it can become perfect.  It would then stand to reason that the only way the universe could be perfect is if the universe was inhabited only by its spawn. Or it could be that I'm just braindead from being overworked during finals.
