Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Final Fantasy XI Help
« on: March 12, 2004, 10:53:44 pm »
If you want to be more of a leader and be up on the front lines taking the hits, choose warrior.  If you want to hang back and deal damage, then pick black mage.  White mages also hang back, but they're almost entirely support magic i.e. cure, shell, protect, etc..  Thieves don't really come into their own until around lvl 15 when they get sneak attack and treasure hunter, but can be very good for gil farming.  Monks have a lot of hp, but not as much def as warriors.  Choose this class if you want to stay on the front lines, but not have to take charge as much as a warrior.  Red Mage is kind of a Jack of all trades.  They can fill almost any role in a group.  They can use their decent physical attacks to stay on the front lines, or they can hang back and take the role of healer or cast black magic for damage.

It's not a problem with performance.  It's a problem with compatability, in that his graphics card isn't compatable with the game at all.  I know because mine wasn't either.  In order to play he will need to purchase a new one.

General Discussion / This doesn't bode well

It really isn't that much of a problem, pokemon came out in japan as pocket monsters, but couldn't over here due to trademark issues.  In other news, rpgamer has said that Square-Enix claims not to have worked on a third Chrono game at all.

Now, ybrik also found out that in order to play FFXI he will have to purchase a new graphics card.  (In addition to finding a way through the TCU firewall.)

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Four Lavos Questions
« on: December 16, 2003, 03:01:38 am »
What I was saying is that Lavos doesn't create the pocket dimension until 1999.  This may sound odd, but it would mean that Lavos would exist outside of time, while still existing inside the normal timestream in some form.

I have noticed that Cartoon Network's anime quality has started going completely down hill.  They've started showing some gay little gundam show in the afternoon, and they don't seem to show Dragonball Z at all any more.  They don't even show Cowboy Bebop all the time any more.

My question is whether or not Lavos' energy is the only type of energy the dreamstone can absorb.  I don't think that this would make sense, being that the dreamstone was present before Lavos crashed into the planet.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Four Lavos Questions
« on: December 11, 2003, 03:36:09 am »
I think that the pocket dimension theory is plausible with just a couple of tweaks.  I think that Lavos was not able to create the pocket dimension until after he emerges in 1999 AD.  This would explain why he doesn't just destroy the planet shortly after he arrives in 65,000,000 BC. (Plus, wouldn't he miss out on the dna of quite a few creatures?) When Lavos is summoned in 12,000 BC, it is not the true Lavos of that time period, but rather the Lavos from the pocket dimension.  I think that this is true no matter how you fight Lavos.  (This is assuming that Lavos creates the pocket dimension almost immediately after emerging in 1999 AD.)

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Marle's Great^12-Grandmother Paradox
« on: December 11, 2003, 03:17:08 am »
I just thought of a good example as I was posting my last theory.  When you travel back to 600 AD, Guardia is at war with Magus.  Guardia still exists in 1000 AD, so clearly Guardia should triumph over Magus.  The second time you visit 600, you must help a dessimated Guardian military fight back the troops of Magus.  Had you not shown up, wouldn't it stand to reason that Magus and his army of mystics would have defeated Guardia and taken over the kingdom?

It seems to me that the only part of history you can actually change in the game is whether or not Lavos is defeated.
