I personally feel the 360 has more enjoyable RPGs than PS2 did.  Aside from the Nippon Ichi titles, I was very dissappointed with most of the PS2 fare. (I literally shouted "THAT'S FUCKING IT?" upon beating FFX)

Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Enchanted Arms, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Tales of Vesperia, and so on.  Varying styles of RPGs but all that I've played have been more interesting and for the most part, had better plots than half of the unifinished RPGs that I have sitting for my PS2 right now (And that is a LOT of RPGs I have sitting for that system mind you)

Not to mention upcoming plans for Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy XIII, and others that I can't even keep track of.

Microsoft really is stretching out to get a bigger fanbase than just the shooters and fighters on this console, and frankly they're kicking ass at it.

Edit:  That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a Chrono game in the hands of Mistwalker, save for the fact that would isolate Kato from the project.  (Mitsuda is a freelance developer now, I believe.)

Regardless of the future outcome, looks like CT is doing well on today's poll (53.6%)  My guess is when it rolls around to CT vs the powerhouse fanbase driven FFVII we'll see the usual results.

First it has to knock out Castlevania:SotN, Mario 64, and SMW2: Yoshi's Island though.

My biggest surprise was Goldeneye recieving so many votes still.  I mean seriously?  I know it was a good game and all but it hasn't stood the test of time that well.

My picks for the division final are FFVII, Goldeneye, Mario 64, and Chrono Trigger, regardless of which I actually think are best, that's what the votes are going to show.

Edit:  I really hate how their brackets are set with transitional years dominating.  We have some of the best games going up against each other from different generation consoles, late NES vs early SNES, and late SNES vs PS1 and N64 titles.  Problem is a lot of gamefaqs users are young, having never played any games before '97, so they'll just wind up voting for the franchises they know now, like Mario, Sonic, etc.  How else could FF2 (SNES) and Megaman 3 beat out River City Ransom and Crystalis?

And there is no such thing as a Judo chop.

How about the Kratee Chop or the Ninjy Chop?

Anyways, greetings and welcome to the Chrono Compendium, do enjoy your time here.

Funny which random avatar you were on when I read that comment V.

My frustration?  Finding a new job.  Current one is leading nowhere, despite how much I enjoy the people I work with, but the market is slim as hell right now.

Star Ocean 4: DONE

Should I play Lost Odyssey or Mass Effect next?
Both are great, so I'd say an even toss up.

LO has the fantasy element with deep storyline, character backstory, etc.

ME is more of a sci-fi shooter with massive customization, deep story, great voice acting and just a taste of alien sex thrown in for good measure.

Uh... Odyssey. I've never played either of them, so...

I really wish I could figure out my damn TV. I want to play Duck Hunt soooooo bad... ugh.
What's the problem?  I know the old NES zappers don't work well on most newer TVs.

Considering the article date and the fact that it's on freewebs.com pretty much confirms this as a hoax article.

Edit:  In fact is seems Mistwalker has silently disbanded following the cancellation of Cry On and less success than they expected for Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.  Shame because they were both excellent games.

Re-Edit:  Seems the Blue Dragon series is still a go with them, they've just cancelled Cry On as far as I know, but are still developing some games.

I think the Suikoden series holds the championship when it comes to (possible) party members dying off perminantly.

After logging many hours into it, I'm finally finished with Mass Effect (at least until 2010)

All I can say is having a Soldier Shock Trooper in that game makes you damn near invincible, even on insanity.  While it's fun to be able to soak up damage like a sponge, it lacks the biotic skill fun.  I'll prolly experiment with other possible character builds, but for now it's time for a break from this one.

I have verbal and thought processes in my dreams.  As in sometimes dream-version-of-me actually thinks instead of speaks.

Does anyone else have that?

Yeah, you mean like nobody talks, or like you think instead of talk but everyone hears you anyway? I've had both before. Haven't noticed whether it's constant.
Or the more annoying instances where you think you talk but nobody seems to hear you, or you try to talk and don't have any voice.  Those sometimes end up with me trying harder and harder to be heard, but then I wake up shouting.

I've scared the crap out of my parents doing that before.

I would hardly consider Transformers to be simply "anime adapted to live action".  It's been toys, comic books, and a cartoon.  The original cartoon was even written and recorded in America first, with animation studios in Japan and South Korea.

Heh, I suppose. Though sometimes badness is fun just for that itself.
As a fan of MST3k and RiffTrax, I can definitely attest to that.  If nothing else, awful movies do provide us with something to make fun of.

I agree to a point Daniel.  There's nothing inherently wrong with adaptations or the borrowing of old ideas to tell a story, it's done all the time in any given form of media from comics to music to the big screen itself.  The problem I have is when this is done while disregarding the effort required to make something good.

Fact is, there are some really bad movies out there.  Some so awful you wonder how any production company could let them happen.  I'll admit, seeing some of these stinkers had turned my perception of the last decade or so of movies sour, and left me rather critical of any films I choose to see, yet I still try and give these creations a chance.

Any successful franchise has the potential to be picked up by someone in hopes of making a movie.  For years anime had only a cult following through fansubs and the rare series to be dubbed every once in a while.  Then in the late 90s it hit mainstream with network attention to series like Pokemon, DBZ and the Toonami lineup, and more series began to see releases outside of Japan.  Now, like everything that exists, people are pondering the live action adaptations of these and just starting to churn some out.

I'm not saying they're all going to be bad movies, but the reason they're being made is because they have a strong audience.  If someone had gone up to a production company with the script for the Dragonball movie in the early 90s he would have been tossed out the door.  Now Hollywood sees cash potential, so they greenlight it.  But they're not the only ones, writers, actors, directors and so on see cash potential too.  Whether they're any damn good at making movies or not some people in the business don't care.  They can make the worst adaptation of a franchise possible, and are still guaranteed money because of the name alone.

You are right though, some people take too much flak for their work.  I agree with you about Michael Bay, and frankly loved Transformers and the new Friday the 13th movie.  I'll probably wind up seeing the new X-Men movie and definitely see Revenge of the Fallen as well.

On a final note, a Spielberg directed GitS movie does actually sound somewhat promising.  Stating most of what he directs turns to shit was a personal opinion, even then there are some of his directorial works I've liked (Indiana Jones pre-Crystal Skull)  Hopefully they can put something together that captures the psychological elements of the series as well as the futuristic action, and not just a gigantic CG-fest.

Well Boo, that's one reason you see so many films based on existing franchises.  Sequels, or adaptations.  They already have an existing fanbase, so they know they'll make money off of a movie.  Even without basing them on existing franchises, film-makers attach popular hollywood figures to the films to guarantee somebody will watch it.  Let's take a look at what's in theatres right now for example.

Dragonball Evolution - Adaptation from Anime/Manga
Hannah Montana The Movie - Existing Popular Franchise
Observe and Report - Original Material
Fast & Furious - Sequel
Monsters Vs. Aliens - Original Material with reknown studio
The Haunting in Connecticut - Original Material based on allegedly true paranormal stories
Knowing - Original with Nicholas Cage
Watchmen - Comic Book Adaptation

And let's look what's on the way or already came this year in the box office.

X-Men Origins, Wolverine
Transformers 2
Harry Potter and the somethingorother
Friday The 13th
Terminator Salvation
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
Saw VI
H2: Halloween 2
Final Destination 3D
Crank 2
Star Trek

I'm not saying a groundbreaking new idea doesn't come around at all anymore, and I even listed a couple that are out in theatres that may or may not be worth a gander, but the fact is Hollywood goes where the money is, and if fans are already attached to a franchise, that's guaranteed money for them.

Edit:  Hell, even films as laughably bad as 1994's Street Fighter: The Movie make money. ($99,423,521)
