I love Street Fighter. I'm getting ready for SF4.

I'm more of a KoF fan myself, but SF4 will be awesome still.

I'm just sad that Capcom hasn't done much with their other fighting franchises...  Darkstalkers or Rival Schools?  What happened to them!?!

I love KoF as well. My favorite fighting game of all time is Capcom vs SNK 2. It was mostly Capcom in style, but the KoF characters worked really well in it.

I'm mainly looking forward to SF4 because of the online play. It may sound odd, but I'm actually looking forward to getting schooled online.

You on 360?  Maybe we can school each other?  Geeze that sounds weird...

Sadly I don't have 360. Only PS3 and Wii. I love the PS3, but I often feel like 360 may have been the way to go.

It's a pretty common theme (The whole returning to the sea...etc). I found this from FFCC...

"We Selkies came from the sea, and one day we will return there." From Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

Like previously mentioned, I tend to think of the whole ashes to ashes...routine.

Sorry I didn't comment on this earlier, teaflower. I didn't catch it until now. Nice work!

The style you used to tell the story is a unique one. There's a style of webcomics called constrained comics. This style, uses the same fundamental form throughout the entire strip. So every issue you'd have the same exact four panels, but with different dialogue and stories being told each time. (Here's a link to my favorite constrained comic...http://www.qwantz.com/)

Your comic is not a constrained comic, but it certainly could work as one. There's a lot of different stories to tell in this short little strip, and that's all because of the subtle things you put in there. The facial expressions are great. You can tell not all these characters get along. Good job capturing all the characters emotions and personalities without using words. While this strip tells the story of one specific scene, you can easily use it to tell another one as well, since the characters personalities are so well defined in the art. That's why I brought up the example of constrained comics. I think you can tell a million stories with this little strip.

Thanks for sharing, tea!

What do I love?
I love Kane on RAW. Randy Orton was being a bitch and hospitalized the old guy who runs the show, right after he got back from an extended stay in the hospital. Kane, being the kind and caring soul he is (*cough*), called up his brother the Undertaker to have him come beat up on Orton. Next week's show is gonna be fuuuun.

...And I can't believe I just wrote that. Wrestling is soap opera for men, with spandex. But I just can't stop watching!
I miss Kane when he had his mask on. Ahh, such wonderful childhood memories...

I had my wrestling days back in the golden age of WCW vs. nWo. I was there when Sting beat Hogan at Starrcade, although I was a total mark for the good guys. I'd probably have more fun watching that now (maybe I'd even go for the nWo).
I envy you Zeality. I was too young to go, or really remember what happened in most of the matches. At least I'll always have WCW vs. nWo for the N64!
I think I watched more when it was still called WWF. They had to change the name because of an animal rights group that popped up under the same abbreviation and complained. Course, the World Wrestling Federation came first, but that didn't stop those animal rights people.

Sting, Goldberg and Kane will always hold a special place in my heart :D
EDIT: And I just remembered... Kane's name is Glen. Frog suddenly that much cooler?

Fou, please enlighten me, what's the difference between beer and ale?

I love you for reminding me about that game. No Mercy was pretty bad assed too. Those were the days, back when DX was around and every kid in school was doing crotch chops and telling people to suck it.

I was never a big wrestling fan, but I'm really feeling my age here. As a kid I went to a WWF match were Hulk Hogan beat Earthquake in a stretcher match, and the Rockers fought the Nasty Boys.

Anyone familiar with Chuck Close? I did a paper on him last semester, and I found out a lot about him I hadn't known beforehand.

He's a photo-realistic type right? I've seen some of his work.

The most important thing is the laugh. Both Hamill and Ledger nailed it. I prefer Ledger's take overall, but sitll gotta tip the hat to Hamill. By the way Hamill will be reprising his role in the upcoming video game.

Polling / Re: New Game or CT Sequel?
« on: January 29, 2009, 02:56:17 pm »
I'd like a new game, new characters with the same original dream team working on it, but to tie up all the loose ends, it'd have to have a lot of ties to CT and CC. We could have Dalton as an antagonist.  Time travel should be involved again. By traveling to the past we can witness the fall of Guardia. Perhaps even prevent this from happening depending on the games plot.

I was also thinking about the fates of Crono and co. They should show up somehow. Not right away, but through the course of the game. Maybe they're time displaced for some reason. Perhaps one of them can play the role of Gaspar, an act as your guide? I also think it makes sense for Kid to return. Perhaps she can join your party at some point. These are just a bunch of random ideas.

People that say he's mute are stupid...I don't think we should even pander to them, really...but w/e...here's the first one: Lucca's name.

Hello very first reply to this topic...! ;)

DOH!

The worst part is I read that and forgot it too. Sorry about that. Maybe the people who think he's mute, left Lucca's name blank.

The first words he utters in the game are whatever you decided to name Lucca.

Crono's Mom "What was her name again?"

Crono..."Whatever You Typed In."

Crono's Mom "Thats Right Whatever You Typed In."

Neuralyzer, Eric, and it is indeed possible.

Question is, where'd he get it?

Will Smith.

I used to love that game for no apparent reason. Yes, Ape Escape. Yes, Laugh. I liked it when I was like, six.

I remember loving the game. I thought the controls were great. I'll have to fire it up again to see if it holds up.

I think I played Adventure on Monkey Island. Is that the one where some kid runs really funny and has some sword, with which he kills evil monkeys?

Ape Escape?

I sorta effed out some of the colors (mostly Magus), but this is sequential, I guess (pic I did in the Oekaki)...

This is most definitely sequential. Although this a "simple" web comic there's a lot going on here. I may be over analyzing a bit and some of it may seem obvious, but really that's why I made this thread. Everyone else feel free to jump in.

The first panel quickly establishes the scene and directly leads us to the action. The "Z" action above Magus' head tells us that his sleep was interrupted. We follows Magus' eyes and know something is going on down there. It also establishes interest. This is really important in comics. In a standard 22 page American comic, the last panel of every page is meant to establish interest and give the reader a mini cliffhanger. The reader wants to turn the page to find out what happens next. Sure this is just a mini two panel gag, but the first panel successfully shows that something is occurring in Magus' line of sight. The reader is already interested in the next panel. They want to find out what's going on. The dialogue just emphasizes this point further. "What do you think you're doing, Flea?" The reader not only wants to know what Flea is doing, they NEED to know.

The second panel is larger than the first. There are no panel borders. It's pretty much a splash page. This makes a lot of sense because this panel delivers the punchline. BOOM...right away we find out just what Flea's doing. Her face and Magus' foot are right in the center of the panel. The gag hits us right in the face. I also loved how the first panel establishes Magus' line of sight, and the second panel is literally what Magus' sees. Sometimes a transition like this can be confusing to readers, but thanks to the opening panel, it was done smoothly here. Flea's facial expression tells the story. The words are just there to emphasize this. Nicely done.

So this really works as a nice short little gag, but it could've easily been butchered or done in a sloppy manner.  Here's why I think it works...

1)The first panel not only establishes the scene, but it lets us know to follow Magus' line of sight. Also, it gives us a mini cliffhanger for the next panel.

2)The second and last panel successfully delivers the punchline. The transition from Magus' face to Magus' first person view flows well. It's not at all confusing.

3)The art tells the story. The words are just there to guide it.

Sorry for over analyzing all, but nice work V.
