Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Your "Chrono" collection?
« on: January 07, 2009, 01:01:52 pm »
Sorry I don't have pics.

I have the US SNES Chrono Trigger cartridge, the PSX Final Fantasy Chronicles, PSX Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger DS, and and End of Time T-Shirt featuring Gaspar.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Finding Lumicite Shard in Lost Sanctum

Where in the woods does he appear?

I've heard that on the mountains he appears on the second mountain just before the fight with the three beetles. Was this the same case for you?

Thanks.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Finding Lumicite Shard in Lost Sanctum

I looked around and didn't see this, so I don't know if this has been posted yet. If so I apologize and feel free to delete.

Anyway I'm looking for the Lumicite Shard in the Lost Sanctum quest (The reward for this quest is the Element Aegis armor for Lucca).
I heard this can be found by using Ayla's charm Tech on a Wonde Rock. The only problem is I can't seem to find Wonder Rock anywhere within the Lost Sanctum. I heard he appears near the top of Emerald Mountain, but I just can't seem to find him.

I believe I may have fought him once without realizing and didn't charm. Does this mean he won't appear again? Is there a common spot where he appears?

This is 600 A.D. There are no cameras in this timeline. People are still a bit primitive. The only viable source of news seems to be via word of mouth. I guess it makes sense that most NPCs wouldn't know what Magus looks like.

Since Dalton has experienced Time Travel at some point, it may be safe to assume he has some knowledge of gates. The fact that he knows about Porre, states that he has some knowledge beyond his own timeline.

Regardless, the fact that he has time traveled could lead to numerous possibilties. Over the course of his travels he could have gained the strength and the experience to become a formidible opponent. Perhaps it's not insane to believe he was even strong enough for Crono himself. Crono levels up through the course of time, why not Dalton? Perhaps its a stretch, but I'd buy it.

So him intiating the fall of Guardia would make perfect sense.

Polling / Re: If you could change Chrono Cross, how would you do it?
« on: January 06, 2009, 03:39:25 pm »
Chrono Cross was a fantastic RPG. It was something new, but it still kept had some of the spirit of Chrono Trigger.

At first I hated a lot of the meaningless characters, but after awhile I began to realize that they were all part of the game's charm. It was a good deal of fun trying to collect them all.

I guess the one thing that bothered me about CC was that it took place in the CT universe, but that universe was greatly changed without any explanation. What happened to Guardia? Why? What's the deal with Schala/Kid? If Kid's here where's Magus?

Luckily this great site attempts to answer these questions, but the game should have given us a bit more closure. If not closure, then the game shouldn't have teased us with all these CT refrences.

I also felt the game was far too easy. I loved the idea that you could esacpe from any battle, even bosses, but if that's the case these bosses should've been extremely hard. I beat the game my first time through without ever coming close to death. That should never happen. Give me some difficulty.

Now, I'm by no means bashing Chrono Cross. It was a great game in its own right. I would've tidied up the story a bit, thrown the Gurus of Time and Reason in there, filled in some loose ends between the two games, and made it a bit more difficult.

Polling / Re: New Game or CT Sequel?
« on: January 06, 2009, 03:24:32 pm »
I also voted for bit of both. Direct sequels in RPGs are a bit awkward and don't always work.

Chrono Cross worked well as a pseudo-sequel to Chrono Trigger, but it left us with way too many questions.

The obvious thing to do would be to answer some of these questions in a new game. We don't need them in the main party, but it would be nice to see the whereabouts of Crono and crew.

Yeah it seems to be only local sadly.

Hey all. I'm new here. A long time fan of Chrono Trigger. Playing the DS version has inspired me to join this forum.

I was interested to see what everyone thought about the Dalton reveal, and this thread certainly covered that. While I'm glad to see that this theory won out, I'd rather see it within the confines of a games story, rather than Dalton just blatantly stating it as fact. I mean it was a great little bonus, but anyone else a little let down by this?

Anyway, it's great to be aboard here. I'm loving this site so far.
