Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Your "Chrono" collection?

No, but someone else did. You can find it at Cafepress.com. Here's a link.

You'd think that would be copyright infringement.  :|

Well if you notice, they can't really put any official Chrono Trigger pictures or screen shots on any items. If so, they usually get taken down rather quickly. The End of Time shirt is a piece of fan art, and doesn't directly state any relation to Chrono Trigger. Other shirts use catch phrases or silhouettes, which is apparently ok. The Day of Lavos items are cutting it rather close, I wouldn't be surprised if those items are removed at some point.

I think audio only would work fine.

I'm relatively new here, so forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn at any point.

hiddensquire brought up a lot of good points. While I'd love to see a podcast, it may be hard to keep up on a regular basis. I'm willing to help in anyway I can. In the meantime I have a few additional suggestions for podcasting material.

1)Keep up with the various creators of the Chrono series. Announce and discuss what they're working even if it's not Chrono related.

2)Debates and analysis of various topics would be great. Even rehashing some of the articles on the sight would be nice.

3)Various talkthroughs of certain sections of the Chrono series could possibly work.

4)Trivia contests.

5)Character spotlights.

6)Listener emails and/or voicemails.

7)Some personal discussion both on and off topic.

I hope someone makes a CTDS hack in which Crono talks. That would be so kickass.

Call me a purist, but I'd really hate to see that. It's one of the games gimmicks. It used to be a common RPG trick, but now it's so rare to see. It's kind of refreshing actually.

Both the Lost Sanctum and the Dimensional Vortices seem forced or as you put it, "engineered" into the game. That's why sometimes I feel I'm looking at things to deeply. At the same time, the Vortices are the game's attempt to tie things into Chrono Cross so perhaps there is a connection.

...and an End of Time T-Shirt featuring Gaspar.

I might be in the minority, but I think silent main characters is a must for the Chrono series. It's an RPG tradition that's been dying out, but I think it's a staple of the Chrono series that could be kept. Sure it's a bit wacky, but it's also one of the series' charms. It's also great to see how creative they can get with the sprites. Chrono never talked, but you always knew what he was saying.

This is a just a theory with no real legs behind it yet, but could there be a relation between the Ghost Children in Chrono Cross and the three identies in the Dimensional Vortices in CTDS?

The Dimensional Vortices feature a spectre of Marle, Crono, and Lucca respectively. The ghost children in Chrono Cross are also spectres of Crono, Marle, and Lucca. In CC they appear to be much younger, but I'm curious as to why in CTDS they specifically featured spectral versions of ONLY Crono, Marle, and Lucca. Could there be a relation or is this just coincidence?

I want a new game with Dalton as the antagonist.

I'd like this too, but I don't think Dalton should be the main threat. At first he should be, but through the course of the game you learn that his mucking with the timestream caused some other wordly threat.

145
I also don't buy that Magus had anything to do with the fall of Guardia. While it's an interesting theory, there's really no evidence that even implies this.

CTDS showed us that Magus lost his memory. He was searching for something, but can't remember what it is. I don't see how this can lead to the fall of Guardia, especially since Porre seemed to be a technologically advanced military power. I don't see any reason why Magus would be involved at all.

Chrono Trigger DS established Dalton as a man out of time. So who knows what he's been up to since then or for how long. His knowledge of magic, technology, and military strategy could have vastly increased during his travels through time. Sure he could still be the bumbling power hungry buffoon, or he could be a demi-god. Who knows how much experience he gained since his "downfall" in Zeal.

I personally see him as some mastermind (albeit a still somewhat buffoonish mastermind) behind the scenes trying to ochestrate events through time for his benefit. He already knows more than he should. How does he know Crono and co are from Guardia? How does he know what Guardia is? How does he know about Porre? How does he know Porre has the potential to become a military power? I see him traveling across time behind the scenes, gaining the knowledge and advantage he needs to gain revenge and power.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Finding Lumicite Shard in Lost Sanctum

I finally found it on the mountain. I was able to Charm it from the Wonder Rock before I defeated him.

The monsters and bosses keep the same stats. I think it just seems easier because you know how to beat them now. Figuring out weaknesses was part of the fun during my first play through, but once you figure them out the game gets much easier.

Polling / Re: If you could change Chrono Cross, how would you do it?
« on: January 07, 2009, 02:55:40 pm »
Actually, for me it seemed like a great game on it's own, with Cameos of charecters from Trigger. If you take that into Account, it is by all means a great game. It definitely carries the Feel of Chrono, and it kind of feels like Final Fantasy, in the respect that alot has changed, but some is the same.

I agree. I don't really like sequels that give us more of the same. If I wanted that, I'd just play Chrono Trigger again. Chrono Cross established its own identity. That's tough to do for a sequel.

I just wish it wasn't so ambiguous about everything. Especially the ending.

Indeed, that's a good explanation, but they have no notable reaction to Magus, and let's face it, he doesn't exactly look like the rest of 'em. I mean think about it, in today's society if we saw a man that resembled the description of Bin Laden, wouldn't there be some kind of reaction? Even if he's not Bin Laden, the fact that he looks like him during this wary time is reason enough for some people to have a reaction.

The description of Magus was probably greatly exagerrated. I doubt many people who saw him lived to tell the tale. So most NPC's would be clueless to his looks.

That being said, you're right. There should have been some sort of reaction to this creepy looking man. I'm actually surprised that there wasn't.
