There's a local parlor by me that makes their pizza with a wonderful sauce that has a certain sweetness to it. Almost seems like it has sugar or some kind of syrup added to it. I keep meaning to ask one of the waiters what it is exactly, so I can either buy it or try making it myself. And I keep forgetting; eating it seems to take precedence to learning about it at that moment.  :)

Gout sucks. It really sucks when I have to be on my feet for eight hours.

The flu. My god, is that terrible. As well as any other stomach bug that makes you puke in the middle of the night. And then your pillow falls in it.

At least you weren't a 10-year-old me: unknowingly vomit on your pillow and sleep in it for half of the night. Oops.  :?

With as many Squeenix fans as there are in this site, I'm mildly surprised no one has mentioned The World Ends With You yet.

Sounds like we all need to play through the game again and skip the Black Omen. You can't always get the free prize without eating the cereal first.

As far as I can see it, the only thing that needs to be explained are the physics of why the portal sucked Dalton in. Here are the events that lead to his appearance in the DV.

  • Party arrives on the wing of the Blackbird, after escaping their prison cells and reclaiming all of their possessions.
  • Party finds way to the wingtip, where Golem Boss appears out of a "summoning" portal, seemingly of its own accord. Battle ensues.
  • Party either defeats Golem Boss or he chickens out, depending on player's actions.
  • Dalton scrambles from the Blackbird in the upgraded Epoch.
  • Party leaps from Blackbird onto Epoch. Battle with Dalton commences.
  • Party defeats Dalton. Dalton attempts to summon the already defeated Golem Boss.
  • Summoning portal appears, but with no Golem available to bring forth, claims Dalton and whisks him away to another dimension. Later ends up in the DV through yet unproven means.

I'll leave the why and how aspects of this to someone a bit more, um, dedicated?, to the Chronoverse. But that's the skinny on Dalton's mishap.

To answer the original post, Lavos had little to do with Dalton on this one.

Pulled from the Compendium's CT FAQ:

How do I get New Game +?

Defeat Queen Zeal in the Black Omen, then kill Lavos to win the game. At the end, reset and start a new game. Note that if you already defeated her but gated out of the Lavos battle, you can still fight Lavos and access the new game.

JLukas' response seems the most correct to me, from a programming standpoint. It's either Zeal or the Mammon Machine that has the flag or modifier; I forget which it is specifically.

But why would names like Shiva, Belthasar, Ifrit, and various others be included while less specific words like holy and pray be removed?

The historic foundations of western culture are so highly built on religion that names and topics like that can get slipped in without offending anyone. We're so used to seeing certain concepts, and so religiously lax anymore, that we no longer identify them as being religious in the first place. Take some common, western, first names for example: John, James, Matthew, Aaron, Ann, Judy, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel, Jake. All of these have connections to Christianity, but very few in today's culture would recognize them as being religious in nature. I'm sure there are thousands of other aspects, not just in video games, that get constantly overlooked.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Proximity Bomb

Crisis Arm/Uzzi Punch (Rapid-fire Fist) tends to be Robo's most consistent method of scoring high damage. To answer the question, though, I personally do not. It can rack up some impressive scores against foes with a weakness to fire, but I typically use other means to dispatch them (Lucca). I've never found a situation that would make Proximity Bomb more favorable than his other techs.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Chrono Trigger DS Expansions

CTDS already has some expansions built into it, but if you're after some stuff with a more homebrew flavor to it, Fan Projects can be found here. Peek through those and see if you find anything that strikes your fancy.  :)

You could also buy Chrono Cross somewhere.

This is why I sequentially use every available save slot, instead of saving over the same file multiple times. It makes avoiding glitches or correcting mistakes during the course of the game much more manageable. Rolling back to a previous save slot is a hell of a lot better than starting from scratch.  :(

Has anyone noted any consistencies about how this bug is caused? Does positioning your lead character on the save point in a certain fashion increase or reduce the likelihood of this occurring? I haven't had this happen yet, and I do tend to use the EoT save point fairly frequently. I'm kinda scrathing my head over here.  :?

As for codes, the only AR codes that I've seen to this point are just the usual standbys: max HP/MP, infinite items & gold, inventory modifiers, and the like. Haven't seen any "No clipping" or walk-through-walls codes yet.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Arena Info Thread

Only because I haven't seen it posted anywhere else yet:

You don't get to keep your monster when starting a New Game (+). Make sure you don't overwrite your save slot if you have a monster you plan on keeping for a bit.

Hartley: I personally haven't. I haven't developed the patience to go crawling through it yet.

We've probably gotten so used to looking at them that they've seeped into the background. They're out there, but all of the unwanted crap has to be siphoned out before anything unique can be found.

It's kinda like satellite television: one buys a subscription to 500 channels, then soon afterwards stares at it one day only to find that there's nothing on 499 of them.  :?

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Lost Sanctum and that Black Nu(spoilers)

When & why do you even gain access to (the Arena)? I forget...

It becomes unlocked upon saving for the first time.

When does the Lost Sanctum's sidequests end?

The plot related aspects of it end when you discover your statues in the shrine at the mountain summit in 600AD.

Well, it could have been worse. They could have filled the whole thing with fifty battles that can't be bypassed.

I forget if this is true for the initial stroll up the mountain, but in the later treks there are only two unavoidable battles per trek, either up or down. It's a little obnoxious climbing up and down fifty times; but each climb, in and of itself, isn't too time consuming.

The Tyrano Lair/Giant's Claw survives the ages pretty well, for having a meteor (Lavos) come crashing down onto it, and being buried for millions of years. The Sun Shrine doesn't change that much either.

Yes, I know it's just a cave. Humor me a little.

Robo: Only a few moments may have passed for you, but I have been waiting for 400 years.
Nu: Shut up, I have waited for 6500 0599 years!

This exchange doesn't occur in the game, to my knowledge.
