Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Hmm...The Dimensional Vortex, Dream Devourer, etc...sprites and areas?
« on: August 20, 2009, 10:17:26 pm »
If you're not specifically looking for the genuine sprite rips of the maps, low-res versions of them can be found in the Treasure Atlas of CTDS, in the Extras section.

8 bits to a byte.
32 / 8 = 4
Yeah, I'd go with bits.

KOTOR II suffers from being rushed to market. It's a little buggier, and the plot doesn't come together as nicely as it should have. It's not a bad game, but the observant can see some of the signs of it not being a completely finished product.
TWEWY is one of the few RPGs that I've been motivated to complete more than once. Dunno if that means anything to any of you, but, hey.

It's for Platinum. Sorry mate.

Either is correct. Judgement is considered the British variant, so it's not surprising the spell checker overlooked it. It's like comparing liter and litre.
What a horrible language English is.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: So I got to Zeal...

I cannot simply go back to 'before I did this' to visit Zeal ever again... not until New Game +.
You could always visit the Sun Temple in 2300 AD if you get homesick.
Quote from: Captain B
After (Lavos crushes the party in the Ocean Palace), you learn that Lavos CAN be defeated: You just need to forgive your enemies and gain the planet's support.
It helps, too, having Lavos be only half as powerful the second time around.

You could always take advantage of the Treasure Atlas in the Extras section.

General Discussion / Re: Name Origin
« on: June 11, 2009, 10:08:48 pm »
"Tripehound" was a nickname given to the Sopwith Triplane, a fighter aircraft from the First World War, used primarily by the British Navy. I've been a big fan of the Red Baron WWI flight sim series practically ever since I possessed the cognitive skills to play video games, and this remarkable machine was the only thing in which I could keep a British pilot alive during the Bloody April period.
I originally picked the name over ten years ago for use on the IRC dalnet servers, and I've continued to use it in numerous web communities namely for its novelty. In retrospect, sometimes I wish I had come up with something more extraordinary, but hey, tripehound wasn't too bad of a choice for an eleven-year-old. Besides, I've always appreciated having a username without a random string of numbers affixed to it.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Quality differences between DS Lite and DSi for CT
« on: May 02, 2009, 06:37:11 pm »
None I find noteworthy. The DSi has a slightly bigger screen and louder speakers, but that's about it.
Any differences between the two systems will carry across all games, not just CT.

I found CT after learning Akira Toriyama did the character designs. 'Nuff said.
I found the Compendium three or four years ago through Zeality's occasional posts on GameFAQs' forums, and realizing that, to put it bluntly, he wasn't one of the local idiots.

The PC version of High Stakes has the NFS3 tracks included with it, so it's the best of both worlds, in that regard.
The older NFS games seem to do the trick for me. Haven't really been drawn to the newer ones as much.

That sketch would likely outclass whatever bondage-motif would likely be implemented, which I find sad. Nice usage of the MSPaint line-drawing tool.
And yeah, symmetry is overrated. That's why I wear a watch.
To get back on topic, Adam Sessler said something to the effect of this, regarding CT during the X-Play Holiday Gift show; the only thing that I could think of that would do the game justice:
"If you haven't heard of Chrono Trigger before; after the show, go out and buy. This. Game."
Yes, I watch X-Play. Mock me later.

« on: February 21, 2009, 06:19:05 pm »
A lot of the more trivial content, like the panoramic media shots of the cars in the vehicle descriptions, would probably end up getting cut due to storage concerns, but the core gameplay would likely be similar to the PSX version. It's certainly simple enough of a game.
