Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Chrono Trigger DS - Reactions (Spoilers)

I'm not sure if any of you got this dialogue but Magus said something quite interesting when I first entered the Lost Sanctum.

Quote
Magus: I’ve not seen this place before
Is this a world apart from our own?
Perhaps a different dimension altogether…
There may be some value in the knowing.

I'm not sure if that means the Lost Sanctum is where the Dragonians originated from but it may be a possibility. Though it was never made apparent that there was any relevant connections to the Chrono Cross Dragonians.

Also, someone on the GameFAQs boards had a great idea for getting Magus and entry #195 at the same time. Because you have to be strong enough to beat Lavos, probably best on a New Game + game. Anyway, save right before you fight Magus, fight and defeat him and then go directly to Lavos via the bucket at the End of Time, defeat Lavos and then save after the credits. Make sure that you don't save between defeating Magus and beating the game. The reason being is that when you save after beating the game, it saves all your bestiary info, etc (i.e. you'll have entry #195) now, but it also takes you back to the actual point in the game you were at before fighting Magus. Thus, you can get him to join. I've heard it works, too, but haven't done it myself yet.

Yep this works I just beat Lavos myself after doing what was mentioned in the gamefaqs thread. I got the second ending and Magus second bestiary entry. I'm glad I got those two things out of the way now.

Now in my attempt to get this back on topic

It would be totally sweet if the "we" refers to Prophet Magus and Schala. C'mon everyone, you know that if Magus and Schala teamed up, they could totally clean up. Why, justin3009 is already positing Magus/Schala double techs...

I have no idea why a victorious Schala would just happen to be sucked up by the Dream/Time Devourer though, so yeah.

The "we" that is mentioned could be an alternate version of Chrono and his friends. If it happened to be Magus and Schala though she could have been acquired into it when they thought they finished it off. Though some how I don't see Magus and Schala defeating Lavos alone. Since Lavos has an ability to drain a person's magical ability. So that could be quite bad for those who rely on it more than physical attacks.

I am quite looking forward to the Chrono Trigger Ultimania book. There is always so many questions concerning this game series I hope the book will clear some of it up. Not all of it mind you since if it did that the chances of another game become slimmer.

Trust is only important for the use of items to my knowledge.

Also I figured out how to max the stats of your creature in the game. When you have it on one of it's final forms it may actually turn into a lower one reducing the stats. Here is the kicker is even though it is a downgrade your creature will have higher stats than a normal one at that stage. I had my creature turn into a stage two one then I got it back to another final stage and had it happen again. By doing so when my creature reached a new final stage it maxed out all of it's stats. So I'm not sure how to make it regress into a weaker form. So if it you are able to do so then it is actually a benefit if you want creature with maximum stats.

At the Hero's grave, I've heard that once you repair the building in 600AD and instead of immediately taking the treasure, go to 1000AD and you will get a more powerful version of the weapons you would get at 600AD. I've done this and I've got the same weapons/armor(whatever is supposed to be more powerful). It's my first run. So am I missing something? Or is that rumor simply false?

Well you should check out the seal chests in 600 AD first to be given the option of opening them or not. If you don't open them after given the option go to 1000 AD to get the upgraded version. The trick is to click on the sealed chests before you get them in 1000 AD and not open them in 600 AD till you got the upgraded ones. That is how it worked before so I'm not sure if it has changed.

As for the side quest in getting the Rainbow Shell. I went in, then right after the entrance I end up in Azala's throne room. But where there should be eggs(treasure), they're already gone. I can totally see it happening that if you got them way back in 65000000BC, then they will be gone in 600AD. Would there be more powerful items here as well, had I waited to pick up the treasure until 600AD?

Unfortunately I don't remember if they improve over time or not.

I really hope it does well since this could be the precursor to another Chrono game.

Is it possible to get two Pontic Mirrors and/or two Aresian Mirrors, or all four, all in one run?

It is possible since I got more than one of some of the mirrors when playing around with the arena.

What do the mirrors do, exactly?

Well they are like Rage Bands except there is one for each character and they are inferior. They have only a 25% chance to counter based on what attack hits the character. Here is the description of the items in the game.

Uranian Mirror - Counters non-light attacks 25% of the time.
A mirror bearing the image of a light deity.
Usable by: Chrono

Pontic Mirror - Counters non-water attacks 25% of the time.
A mirror bearing the image of a water deity.
Usable by: Marle and Frog

Promethean Mirror - Counters non-fire attacks 25% of the time.
A mirror bearing the image of a fire deity.
Usable by: Lucca

Hadean Mirror - Counters non-shadow attacks 25% of the time.
A mirror bearing the image of a shadow deity.
Usably by: Magus

Aresian Mirror - Counters non-physical attacks 25% of the time.
A mirror bearing the image of a warrior deity.
Usable by: Robo and Ayla

I don't know about the accessories, but #49 in the bestiary is Fallen + Soul. In the Northern Ruins (where you upgrade the Masamune) there are two battles with the Fallen and Soul enemies. Anyway, if you wait a bit, they will merge into one, creating #49. Also, you only have two chances to do this. After which, you have to do it in a New Game +, etc. Also, someone on the GameFAQs boards had a great idea for getting Magus and entry #195 at the same time. Because you have to be strong enough to beat Lavos, probably best on a New Game + game. Thus, you can get him to join. I've heard it works, too, but haven't done it myself yet.

I'm trying this right now on my first play through so far I need to get some better equipment from the arena. Since the second stage of Lavos is right now beating me.

i've played a lot of Tier 6 battles with entry of 10,000 gold but never got any of those.

is that the highest Tier you can get to?

i'm only missing 6 spots in the accessories, so those are the only ones i haven't found that you listed.

Actually I got four out of the six mirrors from the first five tiers. So I believe the mirrors may just be a random prize from any tier. Also tier 6 is the highest you can get.

Nice. This is the book we'll have to get and translate. If I'm understanding Shadow D. Darkman's web translation correctly, this will include some official explanation of the new content. Is that everyone else's reading?

Yep this seems to be the book to get for actual official information on the new content in CTDS. I'm looking forward to any new information that comes from this book. So I hope there are some people around who can translate and are willing to. Since this could have some nice information pertaining to the Chrono games.

Has anyone run into the right item and location combination to train your creature without losing any stats? I'm at a loss how to get my creatures health up without lowering it's stats and I am still shy 1 point of having maxed out stats for my creature. One more for magic defence and around 1300 is needed to max my creatures health.
