Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Re: When and why was knowledge of Lavos lost throughout the ages?
« on: August 18, 2022, 10:47:27 pm »
It's even more weird since thanks to Magus the Mystics/Fiends were well aware of Lavos well into 1000AD, and some even think he's just slumbering and will wipe out humanity once it awakes.
And then there's that Lithosphere Report from Cross that shows awareness of Lavos and that it might rise up to the surface one day. The Arris Dome Director also knows about Lavos.
I can think knowledge might've been indeed lost in those 13K years, and it's only thanks to Magus that anyone knew of Lavos again. Then at some point humans learned about it, either through the Mystics or from their own research into the planet's crust.
Regarding Melchior... well, would he had reason to think Lavos simply went back to sleep and would rise again to destroy the world?

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Re: What happens to Lavos post 2300 AD?
« on: August 18, 2022, 10:35:56 pm »
I've also thought Lavos was, if not dead, then not long for the world. It already fulfilled its purpose, as it were. Evolved enough, wrecked the world so its spawn could grow enough more or less in peace, then once they leave for off-distant worlds... it'll die.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: A couple of questions regarding the Guardia line
« on: August 13, 2022, 02:57:54 am »
I would think they inherit in their 20-30's and retire by their 50-60's. That or Guardia has a low life expectancy...

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Is Leena Adopted?
« on: June 01, 2022, 04:44:32 pm »
Personally I stand that Una was indeed conceived shortly before Miguel left... so the guy has no idea he has a second kid back home. I'm pretty sure Una is of similar height to Van, who is 14 himself. I've always pegged Una as being 12-14, certainly a preteen at least. Which would match as Miguel was gone in 1006AD, so the dates could match.
I'd say, I feel the same. Would've been interested if there was an option to choose... though I fear it could've ended up like the Bianca/Nera choice of Dragon Quest V.
Not to change the subject, but aside from her and/or Una being adopted, Leena doesn’t get a lot of love… she is a top-notch character in terms of stats, but I’ve always felt she got the short-end of the stick both story and relationship-wise after Serge was teleported to Another World, she just states he shouldn’t play magic tricks on her after the deep conversation and marriage she alluded to him on Opassa Beach. It’s like all that serious talk went out the window. Kid comes into play and Serge just seems to forget about his childhood friend (and future spouse) altogether. I feel like there should be a case for Leena here… I kinda wish you had the option to choose who you wanted to be with at the end, or Leena would just challenge Kid to an Arni-style tribal fist fight or something lol (that would make amazing fan art haha)

I mean, Leena being actually Crono and Marle's daughter who ended up in El Nido after the Fall used to be a popular theory, though also going hand in hand with the "Miguel is Crono" one.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Japanese Chrono Cross Twitter Character Pictures Translations

On hindsight, it's not too surprising. Too many bios stated stuff from the Ultimania to be a coincidence. That said, the fact they are repeating the stuff means it remains official. As it is, now I wonder what was Turnip's Ultimania description, since I believe his Twitter bio is actually new. Or at least, I couldn't find said info stated anywhere else but the Twitter bio itself.

« on: April 15, 2022, 12:58:24 pm »The reference of a "time war" also seems to regard a battle with the Time Devourer, since at maturity it is said it would devour all of time.
Oh wow, I can't believe I didn't noticed that typo.
It's was, not war. "The time was near". Already fixed it.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / *SPOILERS INSIDE* CCRD New Secret Scene Transcription
« on: April 12, 2022, 02:55:20 pm »
LAST WARNING, if you don't want to get spoiled, leave the thread at once or don't read past the first paragraph:
So, for anyone not yet aware, the new Radical Dreamers edition actually has a small bit of new content. It can only be accessed by clearing both Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross, which unlocks a new Credits option (for the Remaster staff) in the main menu, and the "scene" (it's just text on a black background, as it were) in question will play after the credits themselves.
Someone has already made an upload here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWtcFmr1T9U
A transcription itself is here:
The time was near - the final battle awaited.
There, alone in the shadows, the man lingered.
His partners, a young man and a young woman,
had already made their preparations, and were
waiting for him at the place they had agreed upon.
Their foe was a fearsome opponent indeed.
Would the three of them be able to defeat him?
There was only one way to find out.
All the better - what fun is a battle
whose outcome is all but certain.
The man reached a hand to his mask-
silver and unembellished,
save for a few subtle details.
It had been many long years
since he last revealed his face.
Did he wear the mask to hide himself from others?
Or did he wear it to hide from himself?
Enough time had passed that
not even he was sure anymore.
But it didn't matter now.
The end was coming - an end to everything.
Soon, his long days of wandering would be over.
So too would the girl's ill-fated, fleeting existence.
How many years had passed?
How many centuries?
How much love and prayer,
how much hatred and rancor,
how much despair and resignation,
had slowly and silently fallen over him,
piling up like snow?
On that fated day, long, long ago...
everything that he was had vanished...
Faded away into nothingness...
without so much as a whimper...
There was nothing he could have done to stop it...
But one memory stayed with him,
even after everything else fell away.
One unforgettable image...
That kingdom of winds, forever lost...
Those blessed days in a paradise above the clouds...
And that face... Her gentle, bitter-sweet smile...
Perhaps his time behind the mask
was coming to an end...
His icy gaze seemed to thaw for a moment-
and then he sprang to action.
The moonlight flashed across the mask's surface.
His silvery hair flowed behind him,
reaching out like the tail of a coment.
"The time has come, o fated star-
the king has returned."
And with that... he vanished into the darkness.
Though a life may end, a story lives on.
Not forever, perhaps, but...
What's eternity...
... compared to this moment in time?
fin.

Chrono News / Re: Chrono Cross Remaster and Radical Dreamers Localization Announced!
« on: April 08, 2022, 01:23:00 pm »Another changed line. Don't recall the exact original text, but I'm 99% sure it was slightly different.
The original line was:
Kid:
Oh...OK...
Whaddaya take me for!?
An idiot!?
So they added a sarcastic quip and "bloody" into the dialogue.

« on: April 06, 2022, 12:18:13 am »Wait. Is she, herself, the Radical Dreamers -- or is it actually a troupe of thieves and she's the only one we meet? I always considered it the latter (due to being plural), but then again... I could totally see her being a one-man wrecking crew that makes others think is actually a faceless group of thieves.
The Ultimania states that Kid is really the only one, there's no others. She refers to herself [One of the] Radical Dreamers, out of something Lucca told her once.

General Discussion / Re: What Are You Currently Playing? (Do NOT Just Make a List)
« on: April 03, 2022, 04:48:39 pm »
Been a while since I gave an update here, heh.
I'm still with Another Eden, but since the year began I started playing The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky First Chapter. I've had the game since 2015, but didn't played far back then. Now I'm actually playing to finish the game. Though lately it's been put on hold. Still in the middle-ish of Chapter 1, as it were.
Recently I also acquired the Special edition of Rune Factory 4, for Steam. I actually got the game for a specific purpose, which I wouldn't be able to do with the 3DS version which I also own, but let's just say things didn't pan out, so I'm just playing for the fun of it, heh. I'm close to ending Act 1 and... geez, I'd forgotten how annoying was dealing with the Town Events system, hahaha.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Re: Choras Ruins [Finalized]
« on: March 12, 2022, 01:17:44 am »I guess if you want to speculate further based on pre-final materials, there's the fact that in some of the old magazines Reld scanned, the ruins were represented by a copy of Guardia Castle, but that might just be a placeholder before the final overworld graphics were developed.
I wonder. The Northern Ruins used to have a throne in the pre-release. Maybe the castle there wasn't a placeholder exactly...

« on: March 08, 2022, 01:19:26 pm »Thanks a lot Acacia SGT!! (and DeepL)
I am curious if they will update Guile’s bio and/or acknowledge the potential of CTDS Magus being Guile…
You're welcome!
Personally, chances could be good. While admittedly it's only been with a few of them, these bio's aren't above of adding new details or repeating what's been said in other supplemental sources. So perhaps Guile might be one of those few. Guess once his turn comes we'll see.
