Fan Fiction / Re: Chrono Break (fan fiction work in progress)
« on: March 20, 2009, 07:20:26 am »
o_o

Wow. Um.

...

I don't know what to say to the end there. Just...how? How did she die? Did she choke or something? o_O

Freaky, though. Downward spiral from here on out? Oh dear me...

Also, don't worry about how long it took. Art takes time. Don't rush it.

17
Ugh, I have a cold too, and I HATE IT. I hate being ill... All you can do is sit in bed and take medicine all day... :( My cold's not too bad though, I only have a stuffy nose, but it's still really annoying.

Well, sorry to hear that, Justin. I hope you get better soon! D:

18
Eh, it's okay. Thanks for your support, though.

And, uh, actually, I think I'm...DONE. O_O Other than the reactions for the LS, (which will doubtlessly sound cheesy, be forced, and just in general be a pain to do) I think all of her script is done.

Please tell me if you think I missed anything, but I'm pretty sure all my work is done.

...Which takes A LOT off my chest... *relieved sigh* Since I am EPIC FAIL at coding, spriting, etc., all I can do now is watch.

It does seem like this project is coming along pretty quickly, or at least the 8th character is. That's one of the major blockades in this, and once that's out of the way, it should be (comparatively) easy going from there.

I hope.

Well, good luck, guys! Hope this gets finished soon! :D

19
Yeah, I'm officially depressed, but I'm getting better at dealing with it... It sort of goes up and down. Right now I'm feeling better. But later, something will probably happen to make me feel "blargh" again. And then I'll get over it. And so on.

But yeah. Glad you like my script.

20
Agh, sorry I haven't posted the Belthasar scene by now. I've been a bit sad on the whole lately. I don't really know why. But I should be better soon.

I've planned it out a bit, and here's the Belthasar scene, finally:

***

(Right before Belthasar tells you to switch off the Nu)

Belthasar: And please... {delay 02} If you ever come across someone named '{8th}', please bring her here... {delay 01} I have an important message for her on the terminal in the previous room... {full break}

If you bring Schala to the computer screen in Keeper's Dome, the following scene plays out:

{8th}: What's this...? {null}

[System] VOICE COMMAND RECOGNIZED. EXECUTING PROGRAM. {null}

*light shines from the monitor to form a holographic Belthasar. The party runs in front of him*

*Schala: Surprised sprite*

{8th}: B, Belthasar!? {null}

{Marle}: What is that? A hologram? Did Belthasar make this? {null}
{Lucca}: Amazing, technology capable of such a realistic hologram...! {null}
{Robo}: It seems that Belthasar made a hologram of himself. {null}
{Frog}: What is this? It looks like Belthasar, but isn't... {delay 01} It must be an image generated by that computer. {null}
{Ayla}: That Belthasar? Look like have important message for {8th}. {null}
{Magus}: Belthasar...? {full break}
No, it's just an image of him... {delay 02} Though, he went out of his way to make something like this... {delay 01} How odd. {null}

*Schala: normal sprite*

Belthasar: Hello, {8th}. I've finally got around to creating this message for you, if you ever come here... {full break}
That time portal in Zeal sent me here, to this wasteland. It appears that Lavos awakened here and wreaked havoc upon the planet's surface. {full break}
But for what reason, I do not know. Perhaps it was instinct, or perhaps the thing is sentient and actively malicious. {full break}
The technology here is extremely advanced, however. I theorize this place to be in the far, far future. {delay 02} But, due to Lavos's devastation of the planet, food sources no longer exist. I am parched and starving... {delay 01} However, there is a machine here, which the surviving humans call an "Enertron", which seems to keep me alive, somehow... {delay 01} It doesn't keep my hunger and thirst at bay, though. {full break}
Due to the advanced technology in this place, I've managed to begin work on the Wings of Time. Yes, it's no longer just an idea, I may actually finish it! Perhaps, then, I can return... {delay 02} Home... {null}

*Schala: sad sprite*

{8th}: Belthasar... {null}

*Schala: normal sprite*

Belthasar: However, I doubt I will be able to finish it with my current health... {delay 01} I'm too weak, too frail... {delay 02} So I've decided to create a robotic replica of a Nu. I'm programming it now. If I die before I finish the Wings of Time, this robot will complete it with the instructions I'm going to give it. {full break}
However, I'm finding it harder and harder to work like this... {delay 02} I'm not sure how long I can keep doing this. It's hard to maintain my sanity... {full break}
Imagine that. The Guru of Reason, gone mad. {null}

{8th}: No... {delay 01} Belthasar...! {null}

Belthasar: And if you're seeing this, {8th}, I suppose it means I'm already gone... {full break}
I miss you so much, {8th}... {delay 01} And everyone else... {full break}
Maybe it won't all be for naught. Maybe I'll be able to return home... {full break}
Maybe. {null}

{8th}: ...... {null}

Belthasar: Well, I should get back to programming my Nu robot now... {delay 01} If I die before I finish programming it, all of my work will be wasted... {full break}
But before I go, I must ask one thing of you... {full break}
I sensed that there were some time travelers in this era a while back. Surely they will try to do something about the state this world is in. If so, after they prevent Lavos from devastating the planet, this future should be a bright and happy one, instead of... {delay 02} this. {full break}
In that bright future, one where I shouldn't die as quickly as here... {delay 02} Please, visit me... {full break}
I'd give anything to see your face again, {8th}... {null}

{8th}: ...Belthasar... {null}

Belthasar: But that's enough for now. I really need to get back to work... {full break}
Farewell, dearest {8th}... {null}

*the hologram fades*

*pause*

{8th}: It... {delay 01} It's just a dream, isn't it? P, please... {delay 02} Tell me... {delay 01} tell me this isn't real... {null}

*Schala falls to her knees*

{Marle}: {8th}... {full break}
When I first came here, I felt the same way... {delay 01} I was the one who decided we had to stop Lavos. {full break}
I know this is terrible, but we need to keep going. If we can defeat Lavos, then none of this will have ever happened! {null}
{Lucca}: {8th}... {delay 01} Don't just give up like this... {full break}
I know, it's awful... {delay 01} What happened here... {full break}
But if we don't defeat Lavos, this will all be for nothing. We have to. For the sake of everyone here... {null}
{Robo}: ...... {full break}
I... {delay 01} never saw the Day of Lavos. I was shut off before it erupted. {full break}
But when Lucca recharged me, and I saw the aftermath... {full break}
I felt the same way. That this couldn't possibly be happening... {full break}
But if we can defeat Lavos, we can save this place! {null}
{Frog}: Lady {8th}... {delay 01} Don't give up now... {full break}
I know that this is terrible, but it's what we're fighting for. We have the power to change it. And we will. {full break}
You have to stay strong, so we can defeat Lavos... {null}
{Ayla}: {8th} sad? {Ayla} understand... {delay 01}
Bad things, happen here... {Ayla} scared too, when see. {full break}
But if Lavos gone, then this place saved! Belthasar, saved too. {full break}
But {8th} need strength, to battle Lavos, safe future. {null}

*Schala gets up, and turns around to face the others*

{8th}: Thank you, everyone... {delay 02} You're right, I can't just give up... {delay 01} Everything will be better if I can defeat Lavos. {full break}
We have to continue... {delay 01} Then the future will be saved... {null}

*she turns to where Belthasar's hologram was*

{8th}: ...... {full break}
I'll come, Belthasar. I promise. {null}

***

Finally got that off my chest... I'll do what she says if she's seen all the Gurus next. That shouldn't be as hard. I need to look at her Lavos dialog beforehand, though, to see where it should go.

Edit: Found where it should go.

***

As an extension of her "you think you can get away with all the evil you've caused" line:

{8th}: I understand it now... {delay 01} You're not like some animal acting on instinct, you're actively evil...! {full break}
The Guru of Time in a timeless place, the Guru of Life a weaponsmith, and the Guru of Reason gone mad... {full break}
Do you think it's funny!? Is it some sadistic joke of yours!? You think you can just do all of this and think no one will care!? {full break}
Well, you can't! We'll show you... {delay 01} Not to play with a peoples' lives! {null}

***

Not sure if that flows 100% well and if it perfectly fits Schala, (she kind of...goes berserk... o_O) so please give feedback.

21
As do I.

(I've been tossing around what the Belthasar conversation should be like in my head a bit, but it's not finished yet, and it's late. Blargh. Sleep soon. Sorry I haven't been on here recently, I've been caught up in other stuff.)

22
Teaflower really said it, AWESOME job, guys! This is coming along excellently! :D

This might not take years upon years to finish like I thought it would! We may have the full Schala project up and running in a few months if you guys keep up the good work! o_O

Seriously, awesome. *thumbs up* Loving how well this is coming out.

23
Actually, I was thinking that Belthasar put one last program into the Nu that played if it recognized Schala's voice or something... Although, you could permanently miss the conversation if you switch the Nu off before getting Schala... I like your idea better. So, right before Belthasar tells you to switch off the Nu, he tells you that if you ever find Schala, to bring her to the Dome... That could work.

P.S. I was a bit confused when Janus said "My God" in PG... Not even the censorship, (there was blood and foul language in there, too... o_O) but just "does Janus even worship a god? o_O" Especially the capitalization, meaning that he's referring to the Christian God, and I'm pretty sure that Christianity doesn't even EXIST in the Chronoverse until the A.D. eras... o_O But no matter.

Oh, and I have the conversation for Gaspar...

***

After Gapsar gives his speech and the Time Egg, etc...

{8th}: Gaspar... {null}

Old Man: Ah, {8th}, it's good to see you again... {full break}
Don't be surprised if I'm not, though, as I already saw you getting saved... {null}

{8th}: What do you mean...? {null}

Old Man: Remember my notes, back in Zeal? One of my theories was called "Time-Error"? {delay 02} An axis perpendicular to the normal flow of time... {null}

{8th}: ...That isn't affected by changes to the timestream... {delay 01} Yes, I remember. {null}

Old Man: It's what time travelers operate on... {delay 01} But it also applies to this place. Time never passes here, and no changes to the timestream affect it... {full break}
It also allows me to see everything that's happening along the timeline and remember changes that time travelers have made. {null}

{8th}: So, you already saw... {null}

Old Man: ...When this band of time travelers saved you from the Ocean Palace, yes. I was quite scared for a moment... {delay 01} If they hadn't saved you when you did... {null}

{8th}: The Ocean Palace would have collapsed... {delay 02} I would have died... {null}

Old Man: ...Or worse. {null}

{8th}: What do you mean? {null}

Old Man: ...Well, in the original timeline... {full break}
...... {null}

{8th}: What? {delay 02} ...What happened to me? {null}

Old Man: ...I don't want to talk about it... {null}

{8th}: What, Gaspar...? I can't hear you when you mumble like that- {null}

Old Man: When I was sent here by the timegate, I suffered an ironic fate... {full break}
I, the Guru of Time, was sent to this dull place -- a timeless place. {null}

{8th}: But what about... {null}

Old Man: ...... {null}

{8th}: I mean... {delay 02} Surely you could continue your studies? You'd have plenty of time to look at the different eras- {null}

Old Man: You'd think that, but no. {null}

{8th}: What...? {null}

Old Man: I can't truly study time here. Like I said, it's utterly timeless. While I can see into other eras... {delay 02} It's not the same. I can't seem to work properly... {null}

{8th}: ...Gaspar... {null}

Old Man: And it's lonely... {delay 01} Very lonely. I can't really study anything. My life feels so dull now... {full break}
If I could actually step outside, into the actual timestream, instead of staying here, then maybe it would be different... {delay 02} But the only reason I've been here for so long is because time doesn't flow. {full break}
That means I don't age. {full break}
I'm afraid that if I step outside, my bones will turn to dust... {delay 03} I mean, technically, of course, I should merely be suspended in time and should be all right, but I don't want to risk it... {full break}
Besides, at my age, I was knocking on death's door already... {null}

{8th}: Don't worry, Gaspar... {delay 01} I can bring you some things from the timestream... {null}

Old Man: No, no, don't worry about me... {full break}
Though I wonder... {delay 03} Was this but a cruel twist of fate, or a sadistic joke made by Lavos? {full break}
Judging from what happened to the other Gurus- {null}

*Schala: surprised sprite*

{8th}: The other Gurus!? They're alive!? {null}

*Schala: normal sprite*

Old Man: ...... {full break}
Yes... {delay 02} However... {null}

{8th}: Tell me! Tell me where they are! {null}

Old Man: ...You won't like it... {null}

{8th}: ...What do you mean? {null}

Old Man: They, like me, have suffered ironic fates... {null}

*Gaspar looks around*

Old Man: Your friends have encountered them before. Ask them if you wish to see the Gurus again... {null}

{8th}: Gaspar... {delay 02} You miss them too, don't you? {null}

Old Man: ...Yes... {full break}
We used to have such wonderful discussions about life, time, and reason... {delay 02} We made so many breakthroughs, just sharing our knowledge... {null}

{8th}: Yes, I remember... {delay 01} I heard some of them... {delay 02} But most of it I didn't understand at all. {null}

Old Man: Haha, yes, we did tend to talk about very advanced things... {delay 01} Sometimes I even confused myself. {null}

{8th}: Why don't I find them for you? I can bring them here, and then you can- {null}

Old Man: No, {8th}... {null}

{8th}: ...... {null}

Old Man: I wouldn't want to plague them... {delay 02} By having them come to this bleak place... {full break}
Nothing deserves to be here. Nothing even SHOULD be here... {full break}
But it does warm my heart to see your face again, dear {8th}... {delay 01}{line break}
Perhaps you should see the other Gurus. I'm sure they would be glad to see you as well... {null}

{8th}: Thank you, Gaspar. I'll find them. {null}

Old Man: Good luck, {8th}. {null}

***

I'll do Belthasar's block later... o_o Soon, though. Hopefully.

24
1. Yeah, you're right, the wording's a bit off... I'll fix it. Thanks for pointing that out.

2. In CTDS, Janus comments that it's a rift in space-time as well, so I imagine she'd know.

3. I've had her say "thank the gods" multiple times before, you just noticed? o_O Maybe in the original SNES version, but now censorship is less constricting. Also, I imagine that Zeal worshiped other gods before switching over to Lavos. Maybe she's just referencing those older gods that she knew before Lavos came.

4. Yes. In CTDS, after you clear all three Vortices, Gaspar makes that speech. All the party members have reactions to his speech.

Thanks for the feedback, mav. Oh, and I think I actually should make a conversation with Gaspar... Maybe. Also, do you think that Belthasar actually transfered his mind and consciousness into the Nu robot, like they seem to be able to do in Chronopolis, or did he just write a few programs for it to carry out, and simply recorded his voice to speak to the party? Judging from what he says, it seems the latter is more likely...

Finally, I think it would be interesting if Schala flipped out at Lavos if she's seen all of the Gurus... Something like "Is this just some game to you? Do you think it's funny to watch the three wisest men in Zeal meet such ironic banishments, you monster!?"

(Oh, and sorry if I ended my sentences in "?!" in the script. That's how I write it, but in CT, it seems like it's universally written "!?", so Justin can take note of that when putting the text in)

25
Thanks. ^_^ I was expecting someone to think the Reunion script was a bit off, ("Did Zeal know the planet was teh Entity or something? o_O") but it looks like you liked it.

(Actually, to the above "Zeal knowing about the planet's sentience" thing, they did use the Sun Stone and such, and likely have a "sixth sense", like how I have Schala react to feeling kinds of energy, (Mainly dark kinds... Poor Schala...(I say that a lot, don't I? o_O)) so I think they might have clued in a bit. Or Lavos's corruption could have blown that theory out of the water, I dunno. o_O It could be a saying passed down from Prehistory, though.)

Oh, and while I couldn't find a playthrough of the DV/LS, I did find that someone on GameFAQs has posted the script for CTDS, including the Dimensional Vortex and DBT. (It's not as good as a script dump, though, so that would still be preferred...) No LS script though, so a video or script dump of that would still be helpful. (The LS isn't high priority, though, since that's for CT: UE...) Anyway, I'll get on her DV reactions ASAP. (She still needs text for the campsite scene, though...hm. I think it would be cool if she related it to Zeal's study of the Sun Stone and other artifacts, etc. to add more Entity = planet confirmation. But I'm not sure how I'll do that yet... And there's still the Guru conversations to do. Hm.)

Firstly, though, I think she should have a reaction to seeing her brother in the DBT:

***

{8th}: Janus?!

{Magus}: {8th}?! You're-?! {delay 03}{line break}
But no... {delay 01} The {8th} I knew is... {full break}
Well, you'll see soon enough. But first, listen to me... {full break}

(He resumes his normal speech from there)

Upon seeing Magus getting pwned by the DD:

{8th}: No! Janus!! {null}

***

Agh, writing for Schala (and any introvert, for that matter) would be so much easier if I could just have markers that show that she's thinking, and not speaking... But gah, that will probably unnecessarily complicate things...

Anyway, expect an edit with her reactions to the DVs soon. (the part where your main party is trapped and your other characters need to rescue them may be a bit tricky, but I'm sure I'll come up with something...)

Edit: Here we go.

***

Upon entering the DV for the first time:

{8th}: What in Zeal's name!? W, what is this place? It seems like a jumbled mess of time and space... {delay 01} What could have caused such a massive rift in space-time? {full break}
We should make sure we're ready before we continue. This could be really dangerous... {null}

(I already wrote her reactions to Dalton and the Shades...)

In the Future DV, when the party becomes trapped by the emergency lockdown:

{8th}: Oh no! We're trapped! How are we going to get out of here!? {null}

{8th}: Someone, help us!! {null}

If Schala is in the party that comes to the door:

{8th}: What's happening? Are you all right? {null}

{8th}: Don't worry! We'll get you out of there as soon as we can! {null}

(Uh, the script doesn't post all character reactions, and only Robo seems to be using the terminal to open the lock after the "intruder elimination" battles. Is it just your leading character or something? If so, I'm not sure what to write for her, since she obviously wouldn't know computers very well... :/ It would be helpful to see Glenn's, Ayla's, or Janus's reactions... (Hah, I bet Ayla just smashes the thing. ^_^))

After the lock is released, if Schala is in the locked room:

{8th}: Thank the gods... {delay 01} It looks like they did it. We're saved. {full break}
Wait, what's that...? It looks like another door has been opened... {delay 01} Perhaps we should see what lies beyond. {null}

At the End of Time, when Gaspar's talking to them: (I'll include Gaspar's speech to avoid confusion)

Old Man: Have you, by chance, observed any odd distortions in time's fabric in {line break}
recent days? {null}

{8th}: Do you mean... {delay 02} The dimensional vortices? We've seen three of them... {null}

Old Man: Indeed… Then it is as I thought. {null}

{8th}: Oh no... {delay 02} Do you know what... {delay 02} created them? {null}

***

Please give feedback.

Edit 2: Perhaps I should work on the Gurus now...

***

(Melchior might be tricky, since this one I have planned if you meet him in his hut with Schala in your party, but the game forcibly has him meet the party in the Rainbow Shell part, and it wouldn't make sense for him to not notice or care at all that the princess of his kingdom that he thought was dead is now right in front of him... Maybe if you have the conversation with Melchior in his hut, that creates a flag that doesn't make Melchior go "OMG SCHALA YOU'RE NOT DEAD" at the Rainbow Shell scene, but if the flag isn't on, then the text I wrote earlier plays out. Maybe. o_O)

*stop music*

Melchior: !! {null}

{8th}: !! {null}

*Play music: Corridor of Time*

Melchior: {8th}! I... {delay 01} After what happened at the Ocean Palace, I thought you were... {null}

{8th}: I feared for you as well... {delay 02} I didn't know where that black portal would send you... {full break}
I'm glad you're all right. {null}

*Play music: Depths of the Night/At the Bottom of the Night*

*Melchior: back-facing thoughtful sprite*

Melchior: I may not be physically dead... {delay 01} But I may as well be. {null}

{8th}: Melchior... {null}

*Melchior: back-facing normal sprite*

Melchior: Do you know what I was forced to do to make a living in this era, {8th}? {null}

{8th}: ...... {null}

Melchior: I became a weapons dealer. Me, the Guru of Life, a weaponsmith! {null}

{8th}: What!? Surely you could- {null}

*Melchior turns around*

Melchior: I'm afraid that was the only job I could take. This era.. {delay 02} isn't like Zeal. You need to have a job to make currency to sustain yourself... {delay 01} And I didn't have any other option. {null}

{8th}: That's terrible...! {null}

*Melchior: thoughtful sprite*

Melchior: I wonder, if this was random chance, or one of Lavos's sadistic jokes? To send me to this era, where I would have to give up all my ideals to survive... {null}

*Melchior: normal sprite*

Melchior: So now do you see, {8th}? My body may be alive, but my ideals and morals have been malnourished and suffocated. {null}

{8th}: Don't say that...! {Marle}'s the princess of a kingdom, I'm sure she could find you another job if you asked... {null}

(I have the feeling Marle should say something here if she's in the party...)

Melchior: Hm, that's true. Perhaps. {null}

*Melchior: thoughtful sprite*

Melchior: But... {delay 01} I suppose... {delay 03} Making weapons DOES preserve life, in a way... {full break}
In the hands of a selfish or greedy person, it would do nothing but take life, of course. But in the hands of a wise man, it could potentially give life, by protecting others... {null}

{8th}: That does sound true... {delay 02} See, you're still the Guru of Life, Melchior! {null}

*Play music: Green Memories/Memories of Green*

*Melchior: normal sprite*

Melchior: Haha, perhaps I am. {full break}
Thank you for paying this old man a visit, dearest {8th}. {full break}
But I'm sure you have more important things to do. You should be on your way. {null}

{8th}: Farewell, Melchior. Never be discouraged! {null}

***

Sleep time now.

26
That sounds fine, Justin. Anything that works.

Also, I edited my previous post to include her text for the "Reunion" ending. Please give feedback!

Oh, and I think there should be a little conversation if she meets one of the Gurus... (e.g. Melchior at his house, finding Belthasar's Nu... I don't think Gaspar would be too shocked, since he probably saw them save her, though. I wonder if Belthasar programmed a reaction to seeing Schala in the case it happened? Or Schala could just say "Belthasar! So this is where the timegate sent you! It's been so long!" and the Nu being all ambivalent and "blahdy blah blah do this blah blah". Poor Schala.)

I think I'll do those after I revise her text for the "Beyond Time" ending.

Edit: Reading time for you, sanity implosion time for me. Yay.

***

(Firstly, Marle obviously won't ask Janus if he's going to "search for Schala". Her first text will be...)

After Lucca and Robo discuss whether or not Robo will exist in the new future:

{8th}: Don't worry, {Lucca}. Gaspar did a lot of research on time. One of the things I saw in his notes was called "Time Traveler's Immunity". It says that to avoid a paradox, time travelers aren't affected by changes to the timestream... {null}

{Marle}: ...Wha? {null}

{Lucca}: Uh...? {null}

{Robo}: ...Sorry. I seem to be unable to comprehend what you are trying to explain. {null}

{Magus}: ...... {null}

{8th}: ...... {full break}
Well, the point is, {Robo} will be fine. He won't be phased out of existence when he returns to the bright future or anything like that. {null}

{Lucca}: Oh. That takes a lot off my shoulders, then. {null}

*she turns to Robo*

{Lucca}: Still, though... {delay 01} It hurts to say goodbye... {full break}
{Robo}... {delay 02} Stay safe. {null}

(The text resumes from Robo's "you have taught me these emotions" speech)

(Insert the text I wrote for her during this ending a while back here)

***

^ Sorry if it might sound a little off in that part. Justin can edit it if he thinks it'll flow better in-game.

Whew, now for the Gurus...

(Also, I'd appreciate it if someone gave me a script dump or showed me playthroughs of the LS and DV so I can find reactions for her there...)

Also, I'm about to add "Why didn't you tell us?!" to Schala's "You actually made a Time Egg?!" line in my previous post.

27
The reason I had her know what Retinite was was because Janus knew it as well... I'm not sure if that's because he read about it in Zeal, or if he just knows about monsters since he's the demon king. :/

And *headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk* at the "it's" thing. Will be fixed. Sorry.

And yeah, "fool" sounds more appropriate for that speech... And actually, she does seem like she'd be self-bashing for that sort of thing... It was kind of her fault that Zeal fell... Kind of. But she just seems like a...self-bashing person. (She reminds me of myself a lot, and I self-bash myself over things like that...) Also, she's supposed to be talking to herself. She's sort of whispering, I imagine... (She should be away from the main group, like Janus is during that scene if I recall correctly)

And hm... Well, Crono at least she'd be kind of attached to, as I imagine her constantly blaming herself for his death. (Same thing with the fall of Zeal; if she hadn't powered the Mammon Machine...) And also, in the normal game, her last line (after she teleports everyone out) is "Crono..."

Robo's may need to be slightly edited, though.

I find it kind of difficult to write for Schala, though. Even though her personality is similar to mine and that makes it somewhat easier to write for her, she's a pretty introverted character in a game where everything we know is through spoken text... o_O I'm sure I'll do okay, though. "Reunion" is going to be kind of tricky in the first part where everyone's being heartless, but I actually have something up my sleeve that I think will work. (I imagine that everyone's being heartless to try to distract themselves, because if they think about it too much, they'll likely break down in tears... o_O Well, except for Janus of course. Schala, however, is too compassionate that even if she tries to hold it back, she'll still probably have a nervous breakdown, ESPECIALLY since she blames herself for Crono's death... Trust me, though, what I have planned for her should work... I hope...)

Anyway, check my previous posts for the edits and stuff.

Edit: Reunion script time. Oh boy.

While everyone else is leaving, Schala is crying off to the side. After everyone leaves (including Lucca), Marle notices.

{Marle}: {8th}...? {null}

*Schala: sad sprite*

{8th}: I know what you're gong through, {Marle}... {full break}
My father, King Zeal, died when I was very young... {null}

{Marle}: ...... {null}

{8th}: Mother noticed I was crying... {delay 01} She was sad too, I know. But she told me... {delay 02} She told be it would be alright. That I shouldn't grieve so much about him. {null}

*Schala faces Marle*

{8th}: "What comes from this earth, returns to this earth." {full break}
That's what she said to me. She said that even though it's sad that he couldn't be with us anymore, I shouldn't grieve. It's our fate. We can't change it. She said... {delay 01} That he was in a better place now, looking down on us... {delay 02} And he would be sad to see me grieving over him. {null}

{Marle}: But... {null}

{8th}: Don't do the same thing to {Crono}, {Marle}. I don't think he'd want to see you like this... {null}

{Marle}: But... {delay 01} But I can't just give up like this! Doesn't it still hurt, that your father's gone? I can't just... {delay 01} forget about him! {null}

*Schala walks towards the gate to the terrace with the light pillars, but stops at the entrance to the gate*

{8th}: Yes... {delay 02} It still hurts... {delay 01} When I think about him... {full break}
But you can't bring him back. Nothing can reverse death. {full break}
Of course, you can still... {delay 02} prevent it... {null}

*Schala: crying sprite, though her sprite is turned away from the camera*

{8th}: *sob* {full break}
I'm sorry... {delay 02} It's all my fault... {null}

{Marle}: {8th}, don't say that... {null}

*Schala: normal sprite*

{8th}: We... {delay 01} We should go, before the Gates close. Otherwise we'll be stuck here forever. {null}

*she runs off*

{8th}: *sob* {null}

{Marle}: {8th}...! {null}

*Marle: sad sprite*

{Marle}: I suppose... {delay 02} She's right... {delay 01} There's no point in trying to reverse death... {null}

*Marle: normal sprite*

{Marle}: I, I should go... {delay 02} She's right, I don't want to be stuck here forever... {null}

*Marle walks off*

When Gaspar pops out of the Gate at Leene's Square:

{8th}: Gaspar, you actually made a Time Egg? Why didn't you tell us?! {null}

After Gaspar retreats into the portal:

{8th}: Gah! Gaspar, come back! We need that Time Egg!! {null}

***

Phew, hopefully that's good enough. o_o

Now to revise her text for the "Beyond Time" ending...

28
Oh, good! :D

After thinking it over last night, here's a refined version of Skylark's:

***

Gina: My, my! Crono is sure bringing over a lot of friends these days! {full break}
What's your name, dear? {null}

{8th}: I'm {8th}. Pleased to meet you. {null}

Gina: {8th}...? {delay 01} Sounds sort of... {delay 02} mystical. {full break}
But that name alone isn't going to attract any men around here!
You need to do something about that slim body of yours! You're as skinny as a stick! {null}

{8th}: U-um... {null}

Gina: And so pale! You need more sun! {null}

{8th} Well- {delay 01} uh- {delay 01} yes, many Zealians do tend to be- {null}

Gina: Don't you be eying my {Crono}, though! I hear he already has a girlfriend! {null}

*Schala: surprised sprite*

{8th}: W-what?! Why would I-? {null}

*Schala: normal sprite*

Gina: Oh, dear! Look at the time! Sorry for keeping you for so long. {full break}
I'm sure {Crono}'s getting impatient to leave. Go run along, now! {null}

{8th}: U-uh, yes, of course... {null}

If Crono is in the party, she will walk over to him and say:

*Schala: sigh sprite*

{8th}: It seems your home era is much different than mine, {Crono}... {full break}
I wonder if I'll ever get used to this... {null}

***

Tell me what you think. Also, SCRIPT COMBING TIME NOW. SERIOUSLY. o_o (Expect quite a few edits)

Edit: Found one. Remember when Gina asks if Crono's alright while the party gets the Dopple-doll? Here: (I'll include Gina's too, to make things less confusing. (I'm using the Retranslated script for her, by the way))

***

Gina: Ah, welcome. {line break}
Is {Crono} well? {null}

{8th}: I'm sorry to tell you this, but... {full break}
...... {full break}
I... {delay 02} I mean, he's fine. He's... {delay 03} okay... {null}

Gina: Yes, well, I hope he's not being too energetic and causing you too much trouble... {full break}
Tell {Crono} too. {line break}
"Don't cause too much trouble." {null}

{8th}: ...... {full break}
We... {delay 02} We'll make sure to tell him... {full break}
...Uh, also, though... {null}

Gina: Yes? {null}

{8th}: This doll... {delay 02}{line break}
We need it for something. {full break}
Can we please borrow it for a little while? {null}

***

Edit 2: Looks like the party has a lot of reactions at Death Peak's summit.

***

{8th}: We need your power... {delay 01} Please, give it to us... {full break}
All feelings that tremble in the night... {delay 02}{line break}
All life that stands against the darkness... {null}

{8th}: {Crono}...! {null}

(It turns out that she doesn't need a reaction for the pendant glowing. Instead, there's one after)

{8th}: N-no...! This can't be...! {full break}
The Guru of Time's projects never failed! Why now?! {line break}
{Crono}! Answer us!! {null}

{8th}: ...... {full break}
We went all this way, and now... {full break}
I suppose... {delay 02} It was impossible... {delay 03}
What comes from the earth, returns to it... {delay 02} The process cannot be reversed. {null}

{8th}: W-what?! {full break}
Yes! I knew Gaspar's Chrono Trigger would work! {null}

*she looks around*

{8th}: But...what is this? A time freeze...? Gaspar tried for years to do such a thing...!

{8th}: It worked... {delay 02} Thank the gods... {null}

(I don't think she should say much there, since Crono doesn't know her that well and would be confused as to why she's there.)

(I actually think she shouldn't say anything at all for the "Welcome back, Crono!!!" lines.)

*Schala: crying sprite* (<--- Yes, she needs a crying sprite, I think... Only if Rox/whoever's spriting is okay with it, though!)

{8th}: I... {delay 02} I'm so sorry... {full break}
I'm such a fool... {delay 02} It's all my fault... {full break}
I should never have powered that foul thing... {delay 01}
If I hadn't, Zeal would still be... {delay 02} {Crono} would still be... {full break}
But I was afraid... {delay 01} Afraid of Mother... {null}

If Magus is in the party:

{Magus}: Stop it, {8th}! Don't tear yourself apart like this! {full break}
It wasn't your fault. It was Lavos's. {delay 03}{line break}
And don't call that thing "Mother". It wasn't our mother, and you know that. {null}

*Schala: sad sprite*

{8th}: ...... {full break}
Yes... {delay 02} I suppose you're right... {null}

Resume normal dialog:

*Schala: normal sprite*

*Schala looks at the rest of the party clustered around Crono*

{8th}: ...I... {delay 01} mustn't dwell on this... {delay 02}{line break}
I should join the others. {null}

*she walks slightly closer to Crono*

***

Edit 3: I'll do all the reactions for the various end-game sidequests here. Expect this part to be big! D:

Upon seeing the pendant react to the Forest Ruins:

{8th}: {Marle}'s pendant...! It must be reacting to something... {null}

In the Sunken Desert:

{8th}: What's causing these violent tremors? {null}

Upon seeing Retinite/Melfikk:

{8th}: Oh no, I've heard of this thing... {full break}
It's a terrible parasite that drains all the nutrients out of the land, preventing anything from growing! {line break}
This must be what's preventing Fiona from planting her sapling! We have to defeat it! {null}

{8th}: It seems to have lodged itself within some strange undead creature that allows it to tunnel through the sand... {full break}
We need to find a way to engage it! {null}

After defeating Retinite/Melfikk:

{8th}: There... {delay 01} Now Fiona should be able to plant her sapling. {line break}
We should go back and tell her! {null}

(Agh, the campsite scene with Robo is difficult. I'll have to work on that later. Magus might talk with her a little off to the side, like on Death Peak, though. Maybe.)

In Geno Dome, after Atropos talks to Robo:

{8th}: What do you mean? {Robo} was just acting all this time...?! {null}

{8th}: No... {delay 02} that can't be true...! {null}

When seeing the human conveyor belt:

{8th}: !!! {full break}

*she looks away, crying sprite*

{8th}: I... {delay 01} I can't watch! This is terrible! We have to stop it! {null}

After defeating Mother Brain: (I think that Robo should add Schala to his speech of who his friends are if she's in the party, by the way)

{8th}: {Robo}... {null}

Upon obtaining the Moon Stone:

{8th}: The Sun Stone...! {full break}
I thought it would be lost forever after the Sun Palace was swallowed by the sea! {line break}
It has extremely high energy reserves. If we could use it... {full break}
...Oh, it seems all its power has been drained over the years... {full break}
However, if we could find a way to recharge its solar energy, we could use it again! {line break}
The only problem is that it would need to be exposed to constant sunlight for millions upon millions of years... {full break}
Let's bring it back to Prehistory. We'll need to place it there anyway to give it enough time to recharge. {null}

(I already gave her reaction to finding the Sun Keep a while back)

{8th}: There. Now, if we head to 2300 A.D., it should be completely recharged.

Upon finding the Moon Stone missing from the Sun Keep in 2300 AD:

{8th}: What?! It's gone?! {full break}
It seems like it's been a while since it disappeared, though. We should look for it in an earlier era. {null}

Upon finding the Moon Stone missing from the Sun Keep in 1000 AD:

{8th}: Hm... {delay 01} it's not here, either... {full break}
Its lingering energy is quite strong here, though. Did some greedy person from this era steal it? {null}

Upon finding the fully charged Sun Stone in the 2300 AD Sun Keep:

{8th}: It looks beautiful...! {full break}
It's been such a long time since I saw it... {delay 01} And I was very young then. {full break}
But that's not important. We should let {Lucca} see this. I'm sure she'd love to use its energy! {null}

Upon noticing Cyrus is invincible in the 1000 AD Northern Ruins:

{8th}: What is this? Nothing we try can even scratch it! {null}

Upon entering the Giant's Claw:

{8th}: What is this place? The architecture seems ancient...

(Poor Schala doesn't know what's going on, since she didn't see Lavos fall...)

Upon seeing the Rainbow Shell:

{8th}: Its beauty is dazzling...! {line break}
I wonder how it was made. It looks like a snail shell... {delay 02} What creature once lived in it?

(What DID live in that thing? No one seems the least bit curious about the fact it looks like a snail shell. o_O)

Upon trying to move the Rainbow Shell:

{8th}: It's far too heavy! We can't carry it like this... {null}

Upon asking King Guardia for help:

{8th}: We have a request... {delay 01} I'm sorry if it interrupts something important you need to do for the kingdom... {null}

After the king agrees to transport it:

{8th}: Thank you very much! {null}

After the Chancellor says to find evidence for the trial:

{8th}: Don't worry. If we can find the Rainbow Shell, we can prove he's innocent. {full break}
Since we altered history in 600 A.D., it should still be in the castle treasury. {null}

Upon finding the Rainbow Shell in the treasury:

{8th}: Here we are! Now we'll just- {delay 03}{line break}
Wait, what's this? A letter...? {null}

If Magus is in the party, after he says "Shall I burn it?":

{8th}: {Magus}! Don't say things like that! {null}

{Magus}: ...... {null}

After Marle reads the letter:

{8th}: That's so sweet... {null}

*sad sprite*

{8th}: I'm happy that you have a loving family, {Marle}... {null}

*normal sprite*

{8th}: B, but that's not important right now! We need to hurry and save your father! {null}

After Guardia the 33rd tells the party to take care of Marle:

{8th}: Don't worry. {Marle}'s strong. She'll be fine. {null}

Upon seeing Melchior:

{8th}: !! {null}

Melchior: !! {full break}
Dearest {8th}! What happened to you?! {null}

{8th}: After Lavos left, the Ocean Palace collapsed. I thought I was going to die... {null}

*she looks to the other party members*

{8th}: ...But they saved me. {null}

Melchior: Oh, I'm so glad! {null}

*Melchior: thoughtful sprite*

Melchior: I thought I was going to die as well... {delay 02} But the timegate sent me to this era. {null}

*Melchior: normal sprite*

Melchior: But enough talk. I'm a master smith, correct? The material this shell is made of -- and in such a great amount -- is a smith's dream come true! I'll forge the greatest armor you've ever seen from this thing! Just watch! {full break}
But first... {null}

(Resume normal dialog starting with his "you want 3 Prism Helms or 3 Prism Dresses?" text)

***

Whew, I think that's everything. o_o

Edit 4: :(

1999 AD: (Without Epoch)

Right before Lavos erupts:

{8th}: The air is tense... {delay 02} It's coming... {null}

{8th}: ...It's about to erupt! Brace yourselves! {null}

Right after Lavos erupts:

{8th}: Ugh...! {delay 02} Its power... {delay 01} It's overwhelming...! {null}

After defeating Lavos's "head":

{8th}: Amazing... {delay 01} We did it... {null}

{8th}: A hole...? Is there something inside? {null}

Right before going in to the shell:

*Schala falls to her knees*

{8th}: Aaah...! There's definitely something inside... {delay 01} I feel unbelievable amounts of dark energy radiating from that hole...! {null}

*Schala: normal sprite*

{8th}: We have no choice... {delay 02} We have to go inside to truly defeat Lavos! {null}

With Epoch:

{8th}: W-what is this? I feel tremendous energy, but not dark like Lavos's... {delay 02} Is the {Epoch} doing this...? {null}

{8th}: It's too powerful to fight on ground level... {delay 01} This may be our only chance! {delay 02}{line break}
...but the {Epoch} may not be enough either... {null}

{8th}: Aaah! The shock of the impact is going to be enormous! I'm not sure if we'll survive it...! {line break}
The {Epoch} might not either! {null}

{8th}: Our courage can't waver now! We have to believe in the {Epoch}! {null}

{8th}: Please, {Epoch}... {delay 02} Defeat this menace for us! {null}

{8th}: We can't give up hope now... {delay 01} Protect us, gods of Zeal... {null}

{8th}: This is it! Don't fail us now, {Epoch}...! {null}

(I have the rest of her Lavos speeches in the main text block. However, I think I messed up on her Lavos speech, so...)

Upon seeing Lavos's final form:

{8th}: ...... {full break}
So, to you, we are nothing but wheat for the reaping...! {full break}
You took everything from me! My family, my kingdom, my entire world...! {line break}
Yet all that is meaningless to you! You're nothing but a parasite... {delay 02} A parasite the feeds on peoples' hopes and dreams! {null}

{8th}: You monster... {delay 01} You don't care about any of the evil you're doing, do you? You don't think it matters? You think you can just get away with all of this...?! {null}

{8th}: I won't let this continue...! {null}

*she assumes a fighting stance*

{8th}: Give Mother back!! {null}

***

Whew. Okay, now I'm done. I think... o_o

...OH WAIT I HAVE TO WRITE SCRIPT FOR THE "REUNION" ENDING! WHY DOES THE WORLD HATE ME SO?!?!

Blargh. Later. o_o

29
Hm. The script didn't help much in figuring out Gina's reaction to Schala. Hm.

With a little tweaking, Skylark's could work... Though I think Gina might want to know Schala's name... Also, doesn't she know Crono's already in love with Marle by that point...? Feh...

And now to find her actual reactions. Tomorrow though. Tired. o_o

Edit: Oh, wait... Right after Gina's done talking, Schala might walk over to Crono and say this:

{8th}: It seems your era is much different than mine, {Crono}... {line break}
I wonder if I'll ever get used to time traveling. {null}

Oh, and I think Schala needs a "sighing" sprite. I don't know why, it just seems fitting for her. o_O Only if it's not too much trouble, though.

30
Edit: Oh! If you can't find a fitting theme for the DD battle, I think that The Last Day of the World would work great. It's a very sad, lonely, emotional theme. I think it fits Schala's despair as she is imprisoned atop Lavos very well.
Is "The Last Day of the World" the same theme as "The Day The World Revived"?

Um, yeah... It's Tom Slattery's translation for the DS music player. Sorry if I confused you. (Personally, I like "The Last Day of the World" better, but "The Day the World Revived" is more fitting... Eh)

@ Skylark: Huh, Gina really wants Crono to have a girlfriend. o_O I'll have to check the other reactions, and the wording does sound a tad bit...off, but it's good. I'm sure Schala's reaction would definitely be very confused and surprised.

Perhaps "pale" instead of "thin", though? Because I imagine that Schala would be very pale... o_O (As would many other Zealians)

And yes, Schala using "Miss" is perfectly fine. She's very polite and formal, even if she is royalty, she'd still call Gina "Miss" or "Madam", I'm sure.

Oh, and also, I think it would be a good idea to add a "......" line for Schala after Dalton has his "you stuck-up brat!" line. I imagine her rolling her eyes or sighing or something. I bet she had to put up with him being like that a lot in Zeal. :p I'll edit my post to add it.

Edit: Ah, back to the good old days when I rapidly come up with a bunch of ideas in a short period of time and need to edit my posts madly! o_O I think her "surprised" sprite shouldn't be all bulgy-eyed and cartoony like the others'. Maybe just have her look a little taken aback or something...just something better than "bulgy eyes cartoon time!". o_O

Also, I really need to do that script combing thing. I keep putting that off. I'm going to do it now. For real. o_O
