General Discussion / Get Well Soon, Sajainta...
« on: October 16, 2011, 06:02:47 pm »
Saj, someone kept nagging me to see you. He says he's your "biggest fan". I'm not sure if it's true, but... well, talk to him yourself.

Eleventh Doctor: Hello, Sajainta! Sajainta... That name sounds strong... sacred, even! Sounds so Galifrey-ish... No, definitely Galifrey-ish! A perfect name for a Time Lady, I would say. Hey, don't give out on those hearts of yours; I know you've got two hearts, but Mr Dee here has stolen one of yours so the other one's quite precious. Hey Dee, nice bow-tie! Okay Saj, I received requests and prayers, and when I knew my lovely lady was ill I flew all across time and space just to see you. And you've got a Galifrey-is name! Speaking of Galifrey, there is a pretty pretty ritual we have where... oh, you don't know? "Laughter's the best medicine", they say! Whenever our best friends got ill we had a ritual of pouring water over their boyfriends' heads -- Amy, pour water on Dee's head -- and we all got together to dance, because laughter is a powerful magic in all of time and space that can make any illness go out with a sneeze! So here am I, the Doctor, dancing for Saj, to make her laugh. Dancing. Me. The Doctor. For Saj. For her smile!

Wait a second, Dee isn't dancing? Rory, please tickle Dee with a feather.

Welcome / Birthday / Seeya! Forum / Gandhi and Me
« on: October 01, 2011, 08:03:15 pm »
UPDATE: Sheeeit! I got the frenzy. The Josh Frenzy! I just realized how huge my post was that I had to delete some sections. o_o"

Mates, I've a confession to make. I'm... I'm.......... a Leprechaun. YES, I partake in mischiefs, YES, I play pranks on those who least expect it, YES I love green and am incredibly short, and YES I've got a pot of gold hidden at the end of the rainbow. IT'S ALL TRUE!!

That, and it's the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, aka Bapu (Father) Gandhi, aka Great Soul Gandhi, aka Mahatma Gandhi!

Agreed not many would actually go ahead and celebrate the birthday of this great man (despite some of his... grotesque habits *shudders*), but he certainly deserves every salutations he can get. The dream he envisioned is coming true with every passing day, and the world and philosophy he envisioned is being embraced by people in every nation. But he was simply an architect: it is our duty to lay the foundations of a perfect world and the bricks of moral fiber within that world. There's no question that his philosophies may not have been only the result of his travels but also probably influenced by the Multi-Religious Prophet (yes, there is such a thing) Sai Baba of Shirdi. But despite what anyone might say, his philosophies worked. Despite what people's beliefs are, though his thoughts were different his choices were wise and realistic. This man had a dream, an impossible dream, but when he fulfilled it he transcended into a Mahatma of his time. A person like him only comes once every 500 years, but every nation deserves him nevertheless. He is worthy of a countless praises and songs, and today I salute this guy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLD MAN! And thank you! That dream of yours WILL be fulfilled, if not by anyone else then us of the SPRINGTIME OF YOUTH!

Today its Gandhi's birthday. Tomorrow it's Tushantin-day (Tu-Day, in short). Turning 22. My name (and username) has a funny story behind it. At birth, there was a debate what name would be suitable for me; some ideas were so queer and impossible to pronounce that I would have died if my aunt hadn't named me "Tushant". As for my username: y'all know I was born in a poor family, and that's no secret. So it's obvious that being a 13 year old I wouldn't know jack about computers, so I asked a good friend to teach me how to "e-mail", even though I had no freakin idea what I was gonna do with it. My first Email ID was "CrazyChicken", because that's what I was called back then (hint: it was an insult targeted towards me, but I was too stupid to feel bad about it). But apparently the next day my password wouldn't work, so I tried to mimic what my friend did and eventually got the hang of this "Internet" thing. I chose the simplest username that occurred to me: "tushantin". That was a username I hence used everywhere (with the exception of Hotmail).

Been here for three whole years and I've no idea how time flew past. My first post at the Chrono Compendium in a Chrono Game Music thread was claiming I listened to Chrono Music... weird. Reading back some of the old posts I've been involved in I realize just how much active it was at those times (I stay away for a day and there's ten pages in a single thread for me to read). I've even enjoyed playing in amusing threads that catered towards everyone, including the newbies; it was where I first assumed Crono evolved from a Pikachu (I miss that bastard V_Translanka; the guy, with his incredible wits and humor, made me laugh). People loved the games so much, then loved the lovers of the game, and some of you ever got married. As FW said it's kinda tear-jerking to see kids grow up (IN THREE YEARS); that and at the age of 18 I sounded like a freakin' 10 year old. I don't even know what changed me. *glares at linguists at the Compendium* ...Oh.

Had some wonderful times and some miserable ones too. You guys are like family to me.  :( I realize that I've been the Spongebob of your Bikini Bottom, or the Annoying Orange to your sacred kitchen (and screaming KNIFE), and even though I enjoyed every moment of being as annoying and weird as possible I think it's time to stop. And in that spirit, I apologize any stress I've caused; I know I'm a selfish prick, but somehow even my nicest of intentions got misinterpreted as assholery along the way. I never had any foes here at the Compendium: I loved everyone, and everyone I met was a friend (save Dark Fucking Serge). Thank you for being able to tolerate me for such a long time. XDDDD But I must confess that I enjoyed being a retard and a genius in my life; maybe I'm the only one who can actually be both.

Perhaps my finest times may have been when I participated in projects, or creating my own projects (which I'm ashamed for not being able to complete in time). I enjoyed the research with Satoh and his ideas, FaustWolf and his artistic quest, utunnels and his curious insights, Alcyone and her perfectionism, and all those who may or may not want to be named.  I even enjoyed making those awesome animated avatars for folks; thank you, ZealKnight, for still rockin the Turnip! With that, I sincerely hope that some one takes over our Fleabane Project and helps take it to levels even I may never have imagined. It is truly a product of sweat and tears, and I will some day get back to it when life permits me.

I had so much to say to you guys but I don't think it's a good idea to extend this topic. Instead, I say these simple words: Thank you. Thank you, every one of you beautiful people for inspiring me. I do have my age's new resolutions, of course (and I wish there was a more intuitive way to keep bullets in forums). This time on, this Tushantin will change!

1) Not give admins a good excuse to ban me (LOL).
2) Fulfill my commitments, and not undertake more unnecessary commitments.
3) To be more like FaustWolf, Thought, Syna, Alcyone, Boo, and every Hero from my custom collection of philosophies (yes, I have such a thing; there are over 70 of them) that make me closer to being The Ideal Human.
4) Help people, not by asking other people for assistance, but by personal contributions.
5) Finish my book! (I keep forgetting how important this is. This series of mine will eventually shed light to existential mysteries that we often break our heads to. The Compendium has provided me enough thinking, criticism and info pool for this, along with real life research. And yes, there are characters in it that are inspired by some of you folks)
6) Pay a tribute to the greatest detective / criminologist who ever lived by completing Polar Detective.
7) Live by the Ten Commandments (of Sherlock Holmes)
8.) Become a better artist like Yuumei. It's not her style I want to achieve, it's her philosophy.
9) Remember to make ever progress necessary to become the Ahura Mazdah!

Quote from: Springtime of Youth
If the people refuse to see truth then I will see it for them. I will eradicate difference, give a chance to stand, spread knowledge and wisdom for all mankind and from various sources. I will rebuild the love for nature and accept its gratitude. And if Global Warming doesn't kill us by then, I will do something about it. I will be the avatar of unification of mankind, of wisdom beyond religion and atheism, beyond the blind sight of mankind. The truth beyond truth. The Yin and Yang. The Ahura Mazdah!

I like number 9. Numerphilosophically (or rather Aesthetic Philosophy of Digit, in this case) Number 9 is a beautiful number, mostly because of it's neutrality. It is divisible by 3, but in straight multiplication it always returns to its true form; always unchanged. That is because 9, though mightiest in single digits, is also the one to fall at the sides of any other number. It basically means "All or Nothing".

Dream Splash IV - Radical Dreamers [2011] / Radical on Kid 9

Okay, forgive me for that weird title. Firstly, let's relive those memories (cue: emotional music)
http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,8186.0.html
http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,8202.0.html

Now, make yourselves comfortable, and allow me to tell you a brief story.

A couple of years back when our top secret project members buried their noses in Chrono-cannon to dig up interesting factors and make a story about them, some pondered about giving our protagonist a soundtrack theme from RD, while others inquired, "So... where exactly is Viper Manor in CT again?" You know, to tie things up. And this resulted in an explosion of threads hither and tither speculating theories and possibilities with RD universe connection with CT (and CC). The theories were wild, but it fed so much to our imagination that opportunities were bountiful and plots emerged EPIC.

Strangely enough, I also chanced upon (at the very same time) a game engine by the name of OpenBOR, a Beat-em-up engine specially designed for independent game developers. I fell in love with it, and decided to learn its ins and outs, and eventually initiated a project -- my very very very first Chrono Project -- Radical Dreamers FZ! I knew that Radical Dreamers was, in a way, an incomplete story and I sought to complete it in a way that players could kick some ass again. And since utunnels is also one of the respected OpenBOR developers (Hah! Bet you didn't know that, did you? XD), he helped me out with the coding side of things, and in tough times when I didn't know jack shit. Hell, I'm honored to have worked besides him on a game, and my very first project too!

And we had a lot planned, too! Like Elements and what attacks could be used at what buttons, what weapons we could acquire where, had six playable levels (each level had several sub-levels, eventually leading to a boss monster), two primary characters (Serge and Kid) while the rest unlockable (Magil, Glenn, Norris), etc. Hell, we even had a plot sketch ready!

But alas, inexperienced I was and thus was unable to get gather a proper team to help me finish it. Eventually, destiny called and I decided to work on Fleabane, hoping it would somehow help me develop a decent portfolio but even that was left incomplete just because I hadn't enough voice actors. Perhaps I had taken a gamble by being to ambitious. But I do not regret my decisions, because they at least helped me move ahead and gather experience.

Just to note, RDFZ game concept isn't really dead, but the project will be converted into an original (and awesome) IP in the future that you guys are bound to love (a free game which will, somehow, help me get paid for my efforts; utunnels, we'll split 50-50) and all the resources we've worked on will be recycled. But for now, I would like to give the Chrono fans something in return, something that made me spend many sleepless nights to get it just right even though the amount of it is trivial. Well, a part of it anywhos.

The first of that we'll present you very soon (Kodokami and I will be collaborating when we find the time). While for the "other" surprise...

Behold, the RDFZ beat-em-up sprites for Serge and Kid, and other resources! (These trivial animations took me blood, sweat and tears to learn in 3DsMax via FK rigging  :cry:)

EDIT: I tried putting all the sprites here, but it spammed my screen-space. x_x" Just... go to this link.

Oh, and you must be wondering what Serge looked like. Well, wonder no more!

And to say all this art and creativity was possible thanks to our Guru of Life! :lee:

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Esmeld, & Dario, & Zorander; Oh My!
« on: August 25, 2011, 01:22:09 pm »
With nothing to do in my spare time I tried searching for pictures of RD Goblins, if only to draw Pollon from Radical Dreamers, and came across something interesting.

Remember Esmeld, the real scenario's Goblin Commander? Three things struck me most about him:

1) He was docile and didn't attack the Radical Dreamers; rather, he was friendly towards them.
2) He made Serge promise to avenge the previous owner of the Manor by destroying Lynx.
3) He was in love with Riddel (and she loved him too).

Okay, before calling me a racist and stating that inter-species relationships is common in a fantasy world (no matter how ugly Shrek looks), notice the patterns in CC and RD: Riddel is almost always involved in a complex relationship with Dario (akin to various tragic love-stories) in which the latter almost always perishes. Another pattern is Dario and Glenn's relevance to Cyrus and Glenn in CT. Just to put the info on the table, in RD it is usually Zorander who wields the Einlanzer and perishes in the coup, while in CC it is Dario wielding the Einlanzer. If Zorander and Dario are indeed the same person, then we could always call him "Dario Zorander" (Zorander being his last name), and his brother as "Glenn Zorander". Regardless, Zorander is an awesome name!

And then I see this:

Quote
Esmeld has a bitter hatred, yet hopelessly faithful loyalty to the owner of Viper Manor. His hatred stems from Lynx murdering Riddel's father, General Viper. Prior to the events of Radical Dreamers, Esmeld and Riddel were in love. Lynx's interception of the Manor forced the lovebirds apart and Esmeld laments the event. After usurping the Manor, Lynx transforms Esmeld into a Goblin, strongly hinting that he is Dario from Chrono Cross.

Though radical, that is actually a fair and logical assumption. It may have been that Dario / Zorander and Esmeld are actually the same person, and (taking cues from Kato's plotting patterns, as we observed from the battle between Cyrus/Glenn and Magus) when the Coup was performed it was Lynx vs Zorander duking it out, until the Einlanzer was lost (much in the way Masamune was) and Zorander faced death; but lo, here comes Riddel crying not to kill her lover lest she kills herself, and Lynx pulled his inner-Magus and transformed Zorander into a Goblin (as Magus killed Cyrus and turned Glenn into a frog).

Of course, these are merely assumptions, but they're fascinating assumptions. I think I will explore this theory further in fanfictions and fanart.  :D I have a feeling there's something between Pollon and Esmeld.

Oh, and if my theory is correct, then Pollon may have actually been the mastermind behind the Coup.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Pollon, the Harle prototype?
« on: August 20, 2011, 07:42:55 pm »
I know, Pollon hasn't been receiving enough love but there seems to be a lot to the character than being a simple comic relief and the French-English mix. All we know is that he was in charge of destroying the Mandora Monster, but there is probably a lot that could be up to question: Wasn't he a Goblin Leader? What is the significance of only him, along with RD Lynx and Harle, being French? And more.

As I worked on the drafts and engine of RDFZ, utunnels pointed out to me that Pollon could be a suitable equivalent of Harle. Strangely enough, I found that he was one!

Quote
Boy, I'm sure glad I didn't judge this book by its cover.
However, just as I say this...
"And how much would zis lovely beetle of Kid's zell for, hmm?"
That voice!
Suddenly, the goblin shouts out! "What!? Your friend is that crooked thief,
Kid?"
A wave of shock goes through me. Just when things were starting to seem okay
for once...
I try to see behind the goblins, searching for that strangely familiar
voice, the one that sounded just like the sunflower's. However, all I can
make out is some sort of strange psychedelic light, emanating from behind
the troupe.
The light seems to be coming from a figure, whoever (or whatever) it is. As
he makes his way through the crowd, I finally get a good look at him. His
hairstyle reminds me of a tall green chimney, and his red and green
pinstriped costume is like that of a harlequin
. An over-the-top, long purple
cape drags behind him as he approaches me.
"Are you... the sunflower?" I ask, confused.
"Sunflowah? Who iz a sunflowah!?" it cries out.
I can't help it... this person... no, this thing -- his face looks exactly
like the sunflower's!
Caught off guard by the sight, two goblin guards flank me by surprise,
wrestling me to the ground.
"Ah, monsieur... you are mademoiselle Kid's friend, non? I do not believe we
have met. Bonsoir, Je m'appelle Pollon. T'roughout ze world, I am known as
`Ze Green Terreur'. Perhapz you have heard of moi, non?"

*"Screw you, pervert!"
*Glare at it.

Huff... huff...
There's no way I can run any more. Besides, with that thing right behind me,
there's no escape!

"Pervert? Moi? Non, monsieur, you zimply do not underztand ma elegant
nature!"

Ugh... That same strange feeling I got with that sunflower arises...

"No matter! Soon, le terreur shall be planted in your heart, for Kid'z death
iz at hand! As a gentleman, I shall grant you the privilege of seeing zis
happen before your very eyez."

See? Also, not only did he know the hostage was Kid, but he also had a canon prepared for the situation, which makes the "beetle" and the Mandora's uncanny resemblance to Pollon equally suspicious. Perhaps this was all planned from the beginning, being Lynx's right-hand man, to destroy Kid? And when the plan failed he lost his smugness and ran for his life? Maybe he had a thing for Kid, like Harle had for Serge?

It is also interesting to ponder whether he was there when Lucca's orphanage burned, or his presence at Lynx's coup? Maybe Pollon was changed to Harle for her Moon affiliation?

That said, he's gonna be a key character in my next DreamSplash entry.  :D I love this guy!

Prologue / Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5 / Epilogue

~~~~~~~~~~~
“What is it that you seek?” Said the voice, a womanly and sinister voice of the shadow that slithered past his sight. There was no end to her restlessness.
“I seek to protect them.”
“But what is it that you really seek?”
Falco twitched in astonishment as the question hit him hard. The demon was right; what was he trying to prove by lying to himself? Heroic deeds befit only those who’s lives are run by petty ideals. And she saw it in his heart. Saw his lust for...
“...Power.”
“And power demands sacrifice,” the shadow hissed. “Are you sure, the cherub blessed with all that is good, to wager anything and everything for something you may not need?”
“Power is beautiful,” an honest smile played on his face. “No matter what price it demands, I have fallen in love with its magnificence.”
~~~~~~~~~~~

No matter how busy I am I still can’t help myself when it comes to Dream Splash! I’m writing this on Friday (my day-off) and Saturday in my spare time, so critique me to your heart’s content, because this’ll be fast. I was going to accompany this with some art, but unfortunately my tablet had an accident.

Before I begin, allow me to explain what Atash Kedah is and what it signifies. When Crimson Echoes showed its face to the world it was a candle that burned bright of fandom dream before extinguishing and leaving a trail, an example to follow through. Many of us at the Compendium and beyond congregated, collaborating with all the artistic and technical talent we could muster to finish wrapping up the loose ends left by CE, inspired by its ambitious and lovable story. Why? Because a lot of the story remained untold, and the very story and mysteries of the Chrono Universe was what brought us together in the first place.

The Chrono Universe is vast, its stories stretching and connecting individuals from every era since the dawn of time to the future that awaits. Each fan contribution expands it further, revealing intricacies that touch beyond its canon limits. But a chosen few individuals worked together to make sense of every story left behind, creating baffling revelations and writing new adventures, of heroes we lost, of heroes we’ve never heard of. Storytelling was a big part of our inspiration and lives, and the project turned into, as FaustWolf mentioned, Angelus Errare: Heroes Unsung. Story and art became the stars, and we became the Radical Dreamers who sought to pluck them right out of the sky.

And the experience paid off, not only for the project we worked on but also through maturity of skill and thinking; some of us improved in art, some became excellent writers, some were so inspired they wanted to make an original, breath-taking story! Constant debates and brainstorms later we found ourselves with a treasuretrove of knowledge and inspiration to work with, and the Chrono universe developed a culture so diverse and realistic that it may as well become an example to our daily lives (in fact, we even mapped together a possible culture, races, dialects, religion and way of life of the Mystics, which combined with FaustWolf’s initial ideas, became Fleabane from last year’s Dream Splash; mind you, that was only the beginning).

And that was when I realized that we had everything but one factor in mind: we’ve seen the rise and fall of Guardia, and the fall of Zeal itself, but what about its rise? My mind went all of the place, and if only for a little while I went on a personal journey through my own thought process, pondering what the Pre-Antiquity might have been like. I took what I knew with me, and by the time I had returned I had become Enlightened, holding a story so epic, that you might find yourself growing chest hairs, tattooing your brain or even setting your soul on fire. And the Lord and Savior, Sir Crono, asked me to carve them down on stone tablets using nothing but my nails.

Haha, just kidding! He didn’t ask me, he commanded me. But the story was too vast to be written as an Old Testament, let alone stone tablets! So vast that the story could challenge the vastness of all of Chronoverse itself! Yes, it was the story after Lavos fell to earth and before he rise of Zeal, a story of dreams, intelligence and magic blooming in barren lands, a story of trust and betrayal, of hope and destiny, of the most badass grandparents anyone can ever have and a Magii War (equivalent to WWII) that shook the planet. The viewpoint characters were many, and there were no specific heroes and villains; just characters fighting for their dreams and standing proud, facing death that lurked in every corner.

And this was Atash Kedah, the war that brought hell along with it, the time where it only took a moment out in the battleground to shatter those dreams you held dear, and not a single soul was spared; all in the name of the greater good. It was the war that makes Mystic Wars look like a school-fight.

~~~~~~~
And now to the Dream Splash. What I am about to submit here is but a fragment of Atash Kedah, which also relates to a forgotten character from Radical Dreamers: Lilith, the Shadow Huntress. Yes, she is far more than what meets the eye. I did take many ideas from older legends and mythology. Here I describe the origins of Lilith and why she is what she is. After this, here continuity lies in Fleabane - Moonlight Reckoning, and soon after in... something, until it finally reaches the events of Radical Dreamers, the ultimate epilogue and final closing chapter to her adventures.
So yeah, enjoy!  :D
....
Seriously, enjoy! Dammit!   :roll:
39
I had many a brilliant ideas to post for this year's Dream Splash with regards to Radial Dreamers, but I guess time is not with me this time. However, I do plan to intrigue some with the most ridiculous idea imaginable. So, though this will be short, brace yourselves!  :lee:
(Note: This idea can actually be built upon ahead in various fics, and it'd actually be awesome to see variants of those. Feel free to post them in this thread!)
Miguel, the seeker of mysteries forgotten by time, in turn becoming a forgotten hero. Toma, the man of unbound zeal racing across continents for treasure of old worlds, but neglected by many. In Radical Dreamers, there was no boundaries, no Dead Sea, and destiny was free of FATE's grasp. So what happened to our forgotten heroes? Or more precisely, what would happen if these two hurricanes bumped into each other?
(Note: Just because we saw Miguel as a depressing fella in CC doesn't mean he always was; I mean, come on, anybody would be depressed in his stead! In alternative universes, such as Radical Dreamers, Miguel could actually be a fun-lovin' adventurer, rival of Toma, who simply zealously wants nothing more than to excavate and curiously find the secrets of the lost world (kinda like me, actually). So yeah, this is how I view Miguel.  :D Enjoy!)
(Stuck in a boat, floating aimlessly in the middle of the ocean. Hunger and despair, and all they had was each other.)
Toma: Did any o' supplies make it?
Miguel: Well, uh, yes and no.
Toma: Ohhh, great!
Miguel: Look on the positive side. At least things can't get-
(Thunder storm, and then rain)
Toma: ...Excuse me. Were ya gonna say "worse"?
Miguel: Er... Absolutely not! I've revised the whole thing. At least in a rowboat.
Toma: We're in a rowboat, exactly. You miss nothin'.
(An awkward pause, after which poor frustrated Toma considered eating his own shoe; moments later, Miguel continued.)
Miguel: Toma, did you ever imagine it would end like this?
Toma: Well, I ain't readin' Robinson Crusoe, but that Lost episode Lucca showed kinda got to me.
Miguel: Any... regrets?
Toma: Besides dying? Yeah.  I never... had enough... gold. And that I couldn't kick that sonuvarolly who stole my Great Grampa's Giant Claw secrets before he kicked the bucket.
Miguel: My regret, besides dying, is... our greatest adventure is over before it began, and no one will even remember us. Except for my beautiful daughter Leena. (Smiles) Find your dream boy without me, my princess.
Toma: Well, if it's any consolation, Miguel, you... made mah life... an adventure.
Miguel: And if it's any consolation, Toma, you made my life... rich.
Toma: Is it? -Hmm.
Miguel: It is! It's-It's-
Toma: It's land!
(They hit a land, one surrounded by luscious green forests and wild monkeys. So beautiful, and yet so... intimidating. Miguel becomes bewitched at the plateaus and valleys.)
Toma: Miguel! Hallo!
Miguel: Toma! We've done it!
Toma: What's that? The map?
Miguel: It's all right here!
Toma: You still have the map? (scratches head angrily)
Miguel: The whistling rock! The stream!
Toma: You kept the map, but you couldn't grab a little o' food? Or at least booze?
Miguel: Even those mountains. You said so yourself: It could be possible. And it is! It really is... the map to El Nido!
Toma: ...You drank seawater, didn'tcha?
Miguel: Oh, come on!
Toma: I'm not comin' on! I wouldn't set foot in that jungle for a Rainbow Shell!
Miguel: How about a hundred Rainbow Shells?
Toma: ...What?
Miguel: I just thought that, after all, El Nido... The Lost Continent... (Temptingly wiggles eyebrows) You know, King Dalton's favors, nuggets, gold bricks, legendary artifacts worth King's Crowns, caves and minerals unexploited since the beginning of time! (Yawns) But you don't want to go, so let's get back into the boat and row back to Choras. After all, it worked so well last time.
Toma: (Ponders quickly) Mmm. Wait a pinch! New plan. We find the capital, map the continent, take all the treasures and Rainbow Shells we can and then we go back to Porre.
Miguel: And buy Porre!
Toma: Yeah!
Miguel: That's the spirit! Come on, Toma. We'll follow that trail!
Toma: What trail?
Miguel: The trail that we blaze!
Look out new world, here they come!
Brave, intrepid, and with a bottle of rum.
Pioneers of maximum,
Audacity whose résumés
show that we are just the team
To live where others merely dream
Building up our head of steam
On the trail they blaze!
Changing legend into fact
We shall ride into history
Turning myth into truth
We shall surely gaze
On the sweet unfolding
Of an antique mystery
All will be revealed
On the trail we blaze
Miguel: I wonder what that brat Serge is doing. I hope he didn't find a girl other than my princess.
(Meanwhile, at Viper Manor... Serge sneezes.)
Kid: Shhh!! (Frantically) Quite!
Serge: ... (wipes nose) Was someone talking about me?
General Discussion / The Thread for Artists and Art-Lovers
« on: July 02, 2011, 03:24:41 pm »
This thread is meant to compliment The Thread for Writers and Poetry thread, especially since we never really had a proper art thread. Feel free to share galleries, art, ideas and tutorials here, or anything else relevant to Art (or music, composting, etc.) Let's build a bridge towards productivity!
Anywhos, this one is for Bekkler, and anyone else in need for OpenSource non-linear video editors.
1) Editshare Lightworks (used in movies like Shutter Island, The Departed, Pulp Fiction, etc.)
2) Blender's VSE.
Although not obvious at first, Blender already has a full-fledged, top-notch video editor, ready for professional cutting. Been using it for all my projects so far and am lovin it! No need for 3D knowledge, and fairly easy to use for newbie editors. Anyone on-board, here's the link for a simple tutorial.
General Discussion / Grand Request / Questions Thread
« on: May 23, 2011, 11:35:05 am »
Pin this if it sounds good. Here, feel free to request or ask anything from your fellow Compendiumites.  :lee: Feel like home!
Here's the first request:
My exams are scheduled to this Wednesday (hopefully they won't be rescheduled again, as this is starting to piss me off), after which I'll also be required to complete two of the last projects. On top of that, I'll be joining an Arts college, which is going to take long, and I can't find a better job until I graduate and I'm in some need of cash. Since I can't make money on fanfiction, I've decided to start with a relatively easy and quick, zero-budget series (worth mere 2 minutes long) which will help me earn and make a good demoreel. So here's my request:
1) While I'm gone, Fleabane would require writers and artists in my place. The Benevolence team has donate the project to the Chrono community, and now you folks have full liberty to handle it the way you want. Anyone interested in the full story, PM me. When you're interested, I'll release the source files too.
Psst! Did I mention this project also concludes the Founding of Guardia story, along with Cedric's rule? And the origins of the Mystic Knights? Check it out!
2) Speaking of the relatively simple animation flicks, I'm hoping to secure a Youtube Partners program with it, and thus looking for writers and artists. It's nothing too complicated, but anyone involved in the project will be paid (provided I get Youtube Partners). No commitment necessary; simply hop in and brainstorm ideas, stories, art, etc. for an episode. Every episode can have different writers and story-boarders.
Before I begin, allow me to set the purpose of this thread in stone. I write books, and though I love to write stories that are emotionally compelling often I just can't stand things that are illogically corny and seeing people act helpless, leaving their fate to the flow of time. Yes, Live and Let Die, but not so much as to ignore simple injustices or quirks in the society, sending yourself and everyone to hell. Secondly, even if you don't enjoy helping people much doesn't mean you can't always enjoy logical games with reality or even prepare yourself mentally for any situation life throws at you.
Thirdly, among all the places on the internet to me, Chrono Compendium is one which includes highly intelligent folks with boundless enthusiasm and thus a useful board to include this topic. I write it here because I know my reasoning may be flawed and someone is bound to correct me here, which I welcome humbly. Whether you want to help people, love mental challenges, want to know more about the world around you, or simply love Sherlock Holmes that much, you're all welcome to post your findings, of what you've deduced everyday. See what mystery lurks around you that you may never have noticed. Observed the treasures hiding in broad daylight. Read between nature's lines and witness the miracles of reality that you've been grateful to so far. Whoever you are, wherever you're from, no matter what skills or views you have, you have the right to be awesome! And thus, I post this topic as tribute to the guy on the left. Bonus points for anyone who can recognize him or find out who he is (not just the name).
I went to two banks today, and would like to tell you what I've deduced so far and how certain kinds of people can be deceived. I'm out of time, but I will write about this either at work or tomorrow. Until then, feel free to post!
Characters, Plot, and Themes / Vera's top-secret identity
« on: April 27, 2011, 06:23:05 am »
Okay, this is weird, and we probably didn't thing about this before. but before we get started, I must say I couldn't find a previous "Vera" thread, so if there is one, please merge this with that if it's convenient that way.
It's summer, and I can't sleep well in the heat. Somehow the idea just came to me, shocking me out of my sleep. Here's some points:
1) Vera appears as an old hag when the RD meet them; she heals Serge and dissolves into the shadows. Magil somehow recognizes her and doesn't meet her eyes.
2) Vera appears again at the end, this time with Porrean police but at the nick of time. It's as if she waited for Kid to remember her past life, and then seized the opportunity to grab the Frozen Flame. Magil and Kid escape, leaving Serge behind. Apparently Vera was someone formidable.
Which brings to mind that Magil, a former Zealian, Fiendlord and the slaughterer of millions, was afraid to face this old woman and didn't want to endanger Kid. This woman must be quite formidable. We initially assumed that she may have been Marle, or perhaps one of Dalton's successors, but there is a third potential candidate available. I don't have any evidence to support my theories, as this is simply based on wild assumptions, but...
...Vera could actually be Queen Zeal.
Don't laugh. Here's a couple of things I pondered about:
1) Queen Zeal may have been defeated in the Black Omen, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's dead. She used the very same battle armor as Norstein Bekkler, which could also have been mere puppets or shadows.
2) She went senile thanks to the demise of KZ and close proximity to the Mammon Machine. Yes, the Frozen Flame turns everyone insane (even Lynx). When you think about it, she may not have been such an abusive parent to begin with. Perhaps a loving, caring one at that, but now craved immortality.
3) If QZ snapped out of her insanity, she could have managed to find both Janus and Schala at 1020 AD in the guise of Vera. Of course, she still cared about them and thus acted like a guardian in the shadows, but her eyes were still on immortality. She maturely waited till Kid was forced to break the Time Egg and recognize herself. Once their quest was done, she grabbed hold of the Frozen Flame.
So... whadya think?
Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Sir Crono Facts
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:13:12 pm »
Everybody knows Crono's adventures here at the Compendium, and I take it that the simplest way to describe it would be, "Punk haired kid with a Katana he stole from god-knows-whom travels through time with his friends, learns magic and saves the world." But that's just from our perspective. But the biggest questions any writer would ask would be what does the story look like from the eyes of the characters within it? Some people know what's going on, some people are involved in it, some be bystanders doing nothing but walking at the same spot 24/7.
And here I ask what the mindset of the people in the Middle Ages would be. They never knew what Time Travel was, and they never knew if there was such a thing as awesome as Science. All they knew was that if they left their houses demons would attack them, climb their windows, snatching their people up, so they gotta hide their kids, hide their wife, husbands, parents, grandparents, etc. and there was nobody they could trust. The Fiendlord waged war upon all humanity, a war against light and all that's good. People coward in fear, but one brave warrior and his trusty squire stood up to the demons with a Take Me To Your Leader attitude. They fought their way, showed their worth, and turned the tables. Alas, the warrior died, the people lost all hope and the Fiendlord banged his chest and laughed, "Ima heerow, durr huurr hurrr!"
But then a miracle happened: The Fiendlord was defeated, and the demons fled to whence they came. 'Twas none other than the squire Glenn who took up the sword of the fallen, but it didn't end there. The person, who played a major role in the war, was whom they called Sir Crono of Guardia. Nobody knew who this elusive, mysterious hero was and whence he came, except that this punk-haired messiah appeared from the heavens when darkness conquered, brought them light, and vanished without a trace. This immortal angel was there in the decisive war against the Reptites 65000000 years ago, and he also saw through the fall of a majestic kingdom till the end. And all the people knew that a time will come, when the sky becomes their destruction, when a great monster appears from the abyss threatening to send the planet into an apocalyptic wasteland, when all hope is lost, Sir Crono will come and deliver his judgement before that happens. In his Fourth Coming, he shall defeat the Demon of Abyss called Lavos with a single swing of his Flaming/Rainbow Sword, then shall hold his hands high and call for Light (aka Luminaire), and all will be light again.
The story of this Holy Adventurer has been passed down since the Middle Ages in forms of paintings, poetry, books, plays, and especially (popular among the kids), the heroic retelling of Sir Crono Facts.
So tell us how the legends of Sir Crono may have passed around throughout the Middle Ages! Here are a few examples:
Quote
In the Fourth Day since the universe began, when the God of War called Spekkio called him Punk-Head, Sir Crono pointed at him and said, "Let there be Lightning!" And all was good. And fried.
Sir Crono's power level is indeed Over 9000. He just prefers to be modest about it.
Sir Crono doesn't need to speak. His sword does all the talking.
Once Belthasar asked Sir Crono to turn him off. Sir Crono did and accepted his Time Machine. As a thank you deed, Sir Crono went back in time and let Belthasar live.
Sir Crono doesn't need a Holy Sword like the Masamune. After a decisive battle in the Middle Ages, the Fiendlord disappeared, too afraid to show his face.
Sir Crono has never lost a battle ever since the Universe began. Ask his legendary hair that is tainted with blood of all that is evil.
Sir Crono beat THE MAN in a bike race. And then took his bike.
Sir Crono's apostles would never deceive him. Not even Magus, even though he was dared to do so.
Sir Crono can kill demons before they are born.
Sir Crono can beat the argument, "TWO CAMELS IN A TINY CAR!"
Nobody can control Time. But Sir Crono has Time under control.
Sir Crono met Bruce Lee, Einstein, Santa Claus, Nikola Tesla, and all great people of the past. And they were good!
According Sir Crono, love in first sight does happen. Lady Nadia, who he never knew, took one look at him. And fell in love.
