General Discussion / Re: ZeaLitY's Youtube Guide to Great 80s

Instrumentalism's last bastion is rock, but with crap like Nickelback coming out, talent's being pushed even farther back to heavy / true metal.

I agree with just about everything you said in your first few posts about music in general, though I would like to ask why you think Nickelback is crap?

But at least you get to watch the episodes when they first air. Alas, here in the States we either have to get BBC America (which I don't have) or buy it when it comes out on DVD (and then proceed to watch an entire season's worth of episodes in the span of 2 days).

I thought Dr. Who was on the Sci-Fi channel. Both the old and new. Or at least it was. I remember watching it. I could be wrong though.

I bet she uses Herbal Essences.

14 and almost 21?  Guess that makes me the old man in the group at almost 24. :)

That's really cool.It makes you an individual, and very unique: something that is very hard to find these days.

You know, from what I've seen of you, you have to be older than 15. I mean, I've seen 15 y/o's around my area and they aren't as mature as you. So, I'm quite impressed that at least one has maturity. ^_^

Agreed.

Actually, Schala, based on your a bit about me thread Tact, yourself, and I all have some things in common. There may even be more people on this compendium that share some traits, so I am glad you found a place with people you enjoy talking to socialize.

36
Lol, never met anyone else that used spiffy before on a forum, something I thought only I did. :)

Wow Princess Schala Zeal, you are very hyper. Oh well, that is the kind of energy a good RP needs. Just remember to post in moderation so everyone gets a good turn. I am working on typing up some general RP rules that I will send to Tact to get approval. Fortunately since you want to start a what if thread most of the character's and their abilities are already defined, so after a few people join you can probably get started and if something gets out of hand we can PM the players.

Chrono Trigger DS?!  Like seriously?!  I haven't heard anything about it.  When is it coming out?

Really, I counted at least three separate threads all talking about it just here at the compendium alone, four if you count this one. Not really much information made public about it, so I did not know about it until I read the threads.

I voted for revival of the series. An overhaul of everything like the FFIV remake would be awesome, but I do not think it is needed for people to appreciate the game.

Hrmm, concious control is something I hadn't considered.  Maybe it's controlled by... emotions?  Or something.  If the FF is in fact a piece of the shell, wouldn't having Ayla punch it have some sort of grave effect on her as it would touching the FF?  As far as experiences altering it's mind, I was also implying it's genetic nature, and the effect it's "radiation" would have had on beings.  But I guess that's all up to pure speculation.  I'll try to jot down a list of all the beings and objects that would have had direct contact with Lavos and the FF, and then a list of beings and objects that would have had indirect or faraway contact.  Maybe some sort of pattern will emerge.
So yeah, now I have to draw a picture of Lavos eating the planet in sandwich form, and the Time Devourer eating time in sandwich form =D

That's interesting. Ayla did use her fists, and even the sword wielders had to get close to it. Even though Lavos is defeated there are a lot of people that still came into contact with it that would have received the radiation effects. Is that why even after Lavos is supposedly destroyed nothing really changes in the main timeline except that there is no longer Lavos? If you have a source giving off radiation that causes mutations and you remove the source, the mutation caused by the radiation is still there. A very interesting idea.

Never played Live A Live. Heck, I do not think I even played any of the games on the list except the two I already mentioned. Guess I need to broaden my horizons.

Super Mario RPG had a spiritual successor in the Paper Mario Series, but never a direct sequel, so that might be cool.

Otherwise I voted for a Vagrant Story sequel. It was a very unique game and I enjoyed the item creation aspect, though it took me a while to really get the Risk system down to a science. I think it would be cool to play a sequel, though they might not be able to be a direct sequel, maybe a sequel in gameplay at least.

So if Glenn and Riddel get together, what happens with the Dario that did not die? Are you assuming he was supposed to die and once the worlds merge after the Time Devourer is destroyed he ceases to exist?

Thanks for working on the tutorial FaustWolf. I can do sprite work but I do not know how to reinsert the information back into the game. Once the tutorial is finished then I might be able to lend some help to the team as well.

Very well done, as re most of your research based threads.

I particularly like the idea that the Frozen Flame is Lavos. Perhaps Chrono and Company never actually killed Lavos, just its physical body, but its soul still lived and manifested as the Frozen Flame. Sort of like Sin, Yu Yevon, and the final summon in FFX.

I wonder if that is what happened with the experiment that sent Chronopolis into the past. They say that they were using the Frozen Flame to make contact with Lavos, but I wonder if they were actually contacting Lavos as the Frozen Flame itself. If it is Lavos then it should have the abilities of Lavos, just not the energy to use it like Lavos did.

Chrono Cross Modification / Re: CC Weapon Pack Structure

Ok this is interesting, byte 0x00 of Orlha's(Mojo's, Mikki's, etc, etc) is 16, denoting 22 sections.

the same byte 0x00 in Serge's and Kid's files is 10, denoting LESS sections to the file. So, if there are 22 sections to the Glove file, but only 16 to the Swallow... AND the Swallow has model and texture data... why does the Glove have so many more sections but less data...?

Would it have something to do with needing to know where the weapon is for the effects you see on enemies when you hit them? The gloves may have no model or texture data, but maybe there is more information on where the glove impacts because each character has a different size fist, arm length, arm height, some use their feet, etc. There is actually more movement for them than the characters that all swing the sword in the same general way.

It might also be that the glove weapon is actually put over the hands and feet, but just left transparent. Therefore it would need more sections for the outline, but less data because there is no texture (but then it would contradict with what I said above, because there would be model data).

Of course, I know nothing about what you are talking about with the weapons in general, but maybe it will spark an idea for someone else.
