Reality, Real-World Connections, and the Supernatural / A.D. & B.C.

Quote from: Sir Frog
I don't think the writers we lazy so much as they wanted the gamer to associate 600 A.D. in Crono's world with 600 A.D. in ours.  By labelling the years "B.C." or "A.D." the gamers are consciously contrasting the two universes.  As an exmple, add 1500, say, to each of Chrono Trigger's years.  Wouldn't it seem silly to have the "middle ages" in the year 2100?  And doesn't having an apocalypse in 1999 beat having one in 3499?

I should think they got Lavos to awaken in 1999 beacuse it was said that the world would end in 1999. Another link to the real world, if you will. Crono exists in 1000 AD for two reasons:

A. Crono had to exist in the time before the Day of Lavos.
B. The Millenial Fair had to take place, so Marle and Crono can meet.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Why Crono?
« on: July 05, 2005, 05:00:41 am »
Well, I'm not so sure she actually picked Crono. It was all chance, in fact. Crono met Marle, Marle has pendent, Marle gets lost in Gate, Crono grabs the pendent and goes after Marle.

From that point onward, the Entity would guide Crono to finding the bleak future, and then to uniting with other heores, such as Glenn and Ayla.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Balthasar in Terra Tower/Viper Manor?
« on: July 05, 2005, 04:56:32 am »
Well, I've posted it on Chronicles, but I don't mind posting it here, as well...

If FATE ceases to exist in Home World, there is no need for Lucca to remove the Circuit. Lynx woulden't go after her, she remains with Kid and her friends and they remain happily on Zenan. Which explains why Home's Kid never comes to Home's El-Nido.

And just in case, my theory assumes Kid didn't make up the Radical Dreamers as a cover-up for her working alone. A trouble-maker, she is, but even General Viper seemed so shocked about Kid being a Radical Dreamer, plus the people over at Arni say that even Porre can't get them. Kid can be a trouble-maker, but there's just no way she can cause that much trouble. Remember all her slip-ups in Viper Manor, in both CC and RD? That alone shows she has no way of doing that much trouble.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Lavos Core
« on: July 05, 2005, 04:49:56 am »
Whoa, that sounds awesome. Though she dosen't have any sprites, and it's probably as hard as hell to actually beat Lavos with Crono alone, leave alone with a mop as your weapon, it sure is worth it.

Yes, well, I'm sure you do, but my question regards Belthasar. Any ideas on where he might of gone?

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Balthasar in Terra Tower/Viper Manor?

I should think Belthasar came to the eleventh century and contacted Lucca, telling her about Project Kid. He would then use Lucca's connections with Luccia to get him a job as the Viper Manor librarian, thus earning him a good spot to oversee the completion of Project Kid.

As for Terra Tower... The most reasonble answer I can come up with is he used magic to create an illuision of the library in Viper Manor... Hmm, let's see, he called the library in the tower... ~Checks Chrono Cross script~
Ah, a "space that does not exist". Yes, I guess an illusion can go under that kind of description. Anyway, he created it so Serge can find something familiar in the Tower, so he could tell him about Terra Tower, the Dragon God and FATE in somewhat more comfortable circumstances. You then leave the library, and it's as good as gone. And, after defeating the Dragon God\TimeDevourer Belthasar gives you the Time Egg and disappears completly off the face of the archipelago.

As for Home World... I guess he fled with the Neo Epoch when the Manor got wrecked.  Or, if my theory is correct and Lucca wasn't kidnapped in Home World, he went to Zenan so the two can further oversee the operation.

Hmm, I would think that maybe Melchior should play a bigger role in the third. I mean, Gasper gave the CT kids the first Time Egg, Belthasar gave Serge the second Time Egg. It only makes sense that Melchior gives the third.

But maybe it does connect to CB, after all. I just wonder if he went anywhere BESIDES the CB year.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / A thought about Belthasar
« on: July 05, 2005, 04:14:20 am »
Hmm, I've just finished CC again last night, and I've loaded up my save file before the Final Battle and decided to go and do some last minute exploring. My trip led me to Viper Manor, where I found Belthasar was no where to be found. I've expected this much, but when I tried to go and take one last look at the Neo Epoch, the door was locked!

Now, I always thought the Neo Epoch was a nice bonus, but nothing to give that much attention to. I found it odd the developers would actually give the time to even cover the Neo Epoch, which means it's important to the storyline. Belthasar probably repaired the Neo Epoch, and went to some other time to witness the effects of Serge's battle.

I wonder where he went, though. Any thoughts?

What you might not notice, that Magil in RD seemes to have diffrent powers then Magus. They are the same person, after all, and RD is probably an extension to one of the endings, so should you think about it, his powers have changed. (Magil vaporized the Goblins in the Vault, did Magus ever do this?)

Janus declared himself Magus to run from a past of shame and guilt for not being able to save the person he loved most, who stayed with him even when his own mother turned evil, his dear half sister Schala. He felt he could never repay her the favor. He helped the party revive Crono because he thought (Back then, anyway)that Crono and Schala died in the hands of the same butcher, Lavos, by reviving Crono he has proven that even those killed by Lavos can be revived, and that all hope for Schala is not yet gone. Yet, as cold as the relationship between him and the group was, he and the CT team had become friends, some of them anyway. The grudge between him and Frog shall always remain, but after going through after all that, they had gotten closer. Magus' little talking never gave the team a chance to know him. He found a worthy cause to fight for, and, even if he won't admit it, worthy friends to fight with. Magus' hidden  powers are never really revealed, but what's sure that he's stronger then Queen Zeal and Schala. This means something. Maybe the powers will be revealed in the upcoming Chrono Break?
