Site Updates / Chrono Trigger on Playstation Network (Finally)
« on: April 22, 2011, 07:01:11 pm »
This just in from IGN.com:

"With so many PSX-era Square titles getting dumped onto the PlayStation Network recently, many gamers were left wondering when an SNES-era favorite might join the party.

We're of course talking about Chrono Trigger. Originally released on the Super Nintendo in 1995, Chrono Trigger saw re-release on the PlayStation in 2001, packaged Stateside with Final Fantasy IV in the compilation known as Final Fantasy Chronicles. Other SNES-turned-PlayStation Square RPGs have recently been announced, such as Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI, adding fuel to the fire that Chrono Trigger had to be right around the corner.

Well, now we have confirmation. The ESRB has rated Chrono Trigger for release on PlayStation 3 and PSP, signifying that Chrono Trigger will arrive sometime soon on the PlayStation Store as a PSone Classic.

Unfortunately, there's no word yet on a release date for Chrono Trigger on the PSN."

General Discussion / A warm round of applause for... Wiz Khalifa!
« on: February 22, 2011, 02:05:44 pm »
So we all remember "Never Been" by professional musician / rapper Wiz Khalifa, right? This song sampled Chrono Trigger's "Schala Theme" and created a buzz in the Chrono fan circle, seeing as how it's a professional shout out to the game. If your memory needs jolted, you can see it here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0z7OCaiByw

Wiz Khalifa has been hitting the charts, especially with his best known and most recent hit, Black and Yellow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_yellow.

Either way, I would like to personally welcome Wiz Khalifa to the forums! He recently registered and has been quietly posting here and there. Not to put the spotlight on him, but I thought this was awesome-worthy!

Welcome to the Chrono Compendium, Wiz Khalifa!

RPGamer ran a 10-year retrospective review for Chrono Cross earlier today... Can't say I agree with their 2.5 out of 5.

General Discussion / Where The Wild Things Are
« on: October 18, 2009, 01:53:04 am »
Spike Jonze is a genius. My wife and I saw this film tonight and I'm just completely overwhelmed. The way it grasped the essence of what we go through as humans was really just... inspiring, really. I couldn't help but get choked up several times, the dialogue having hit close to home. Once I mentally digest it some more I think I'm going to write a short review of it (one should never review a concept until considerable time has been given to it)...

So. What did you think?

General Discussion / Cowboy Bebop
« on: January 17, 2009, 03:31:27 pm »
I love Cowboy Bebop.  I absolutely do.  It was my first anime (outside of Dragonball Z) and introduced me to a whole plethora of related outlets.

Check it:

I don't know what I think about it...

Chrono Compendium Discussion / Personalized thumbnails...
« on: November 19, 2008, 09:25:26 pm »
So for a while I had a avatar here on the site.  It was a personalized one, and it was hosted on photobucket.com...  Suddenly I found it gone.  Now I'm trying to put it back on and this is the error I get:

Quote
The following errors occurred when trying to save your profile:

    * The avatar you have selected is too large, or not an avatar.

I know it isn't too large - it's actually a little smaller than necessary, besides, it was here on the site for months before in the past.  Can someone please help me out with this?

Also, what is the "official" size for avatars?

Thanks in advance!

Polling / Are You Getting Chrono Trigger DS?
« on: November 17, 2008, 08:29:59 pm »
So what are your plans concerning Chrono Trigger DS?

I just pre-ordered mine today at GameStop.  Daggum, here in Alabama the game costs over $40.00 with tax.  But that's okay; it will be worth it!

And I should note that I am buying a DS just for Chrono Trigger DS - but I should note that I have been wanting one for a while, so this is my excuse for finally caving in and finally buying one.

Assuming that such a fangame was actually created, what do you think would best suit Melchior?  Take nothing into consideration except for the fact that it's Melchior, the Guru of Life.  Ignore plot musings, etc.  Just think about the Melchior.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / A Form of Artistic Expression
« on: September 14, 2008, 05:44:15 pm »
As I am getting older and getting acclimated to the adult world of marriage, a career, and focused living, I am finding that my own message to the world is becoming a personal priority.  If I were to pass on today, what message would I leave behind?  What of my believes, my theories, my personal worldview?  Would it last a year, a decade, a lifetime?  Would it last at all?

As such, my own personal form of artistic expression is once again taking flight, carrying me onward into my lifeline.  I have a purpose, a reason for living, and I have a worldview to unveil to the world at large.  I am not living an insignificant life if I chose to live within a climate of action, grasping the reigns of determinism and escaping the chains of fate.

I am an acting cog in the world at large.

So I beseech those that are looking for an avenue of personal artistic expression!  Today is the day we can shape history and create a different tomorrow!  Some of us are basking within the imaginary glories of a young dream, others are grasping the edge of the Springtime of Youth!

Those of you may remember that back in March (or so) we began to discuss some potential outlets for advertising the Chronoverse, stirring up the heartstrings of a new generation.  The thread dwindled away, but the idea has survived.  As such, I am spearheading a personal compendium of allies to launch a string of personal artistic expression to any and all (while also finding the zeal of life).  The expressions can take any form one would want, however, I do have a vision that can be combined to form a small, subtle, and powerful transient group bent on spreading the "world that was saved"!

Because this venture is sensitive and subject to breaking certain rules/guidelines, if interested please feel free to PM me.  From there we can choose to meet on different terms, with a different purpose that leaves the confines of the digital Compendium.

Expression is for all who dare to test it's waters!

And remember...

Lavos Was Here, 1999AD.

General Discussion / Where Are You From...?
« on: July 11, 2008, 04:21:50 am »
So I got curious.  Where's everybody from?  Feel free to be vague in order to keep it from being stalker-ish!

I am living in Chattanooga, TN... but tomorrow I move to Birmingham, AL.  My car is loaded to the brim and I'm rippin' and rearin' to go!

What video game HERO relates to you the most?

What video game VILLAIN hits close to home?

AND WHY!  AND HOW!

So since I've joined the Compendium I've been thinking more and more about all things Chrono...  I go through these periods when I eat/breath/sleep all things Chrono.  And every time I get into one of these moods I work on the premises for these Chrono sequels I have in my head.

So last night I was lying in bed thinking through the game-script that I had been working on before I went to bed, and as such, I had a dream that there was a new Chrono game and a full-length movie to act as it's prequel.

The dream only showed the movie trailer, and it began by showing two little kids standing in a high-tech city.  Suddenly, these organic looking ships (I remember that they looked like screaming alien skulls, and the lazers were coming out of their 'mouths') came down, and one of the little kids got taken up by the ships.

The narrator talked about how the two brothers became seperated; one of them was kidnapped by the "bad guys" and eventually went on to become the leader of the villains, while the game/prequel movie were based upon the adventures of the other brother.

Sometime in the dream it showed a guy who looked like the blond-haired, bandana-wearing man from Final Fantasy XIII and the actor who played him was Owen Wilson.  I remember in my dream saying out loud, "they put Owen Wilson in a Chrono movie?!?!"  His character seemed to be a sidekick to the main character and was mostly for comic relief.

Then it showed the organic space ships coming back and destroying a city.  One of the ships landed and out stepped the leader of the bad guys (the brother who had been taken), and he was all decked out in these outrageous robes that sort of looked like the robes of Queen Elizabeth II (as in having a ginormous collar).  The main character and his party suddenly ran up to the ship and both brothers unsheathed their weapons to fight.

Then it faded to black and the narrator said, "Coming soon, Chrono Trigger 5".

And that was it.

Just thought I would share.

PS - If anyone is interested in helping me flesh out my storyline for a POTENTIAL Chrono game, PM me.  At this point it's all scenario and script-writing.
