that's good that they're still using roe's songs. i enjoyed most of them that i've heard.
but if anyone from crisis is reading this, please at least update the home page with something newer than roe's post, if only to stop such questions. not a command by any means, just a humble request.
i still look forward to the game. i dont want the project to die. i ask because i care.

hey now, NOT looking for praise. i was looking for help. i want to tie it in to the chronoverse and total lack of interest=total lack of help. if you think the whole idea or even just part of it sucks big time tell me why. that's what i WANT to hear.
on the other hand. thank you, mav for the criticism. i'm still experimenting on frog's actual dialogue. right now it's some combination of non-shakespearean normaltalk and headfast angry aged frog. he's supposed to be twenty years older than when chrono trigger left off, a bit hardened in his years and i don't think i've nailed it yet. i appreciate the thought, though.

Man, a month and not even a comment. Well, I assume this is why fan projects die so quickly. So any mod that wants to take this thread down, feel free. I'm still working on it (ALONE BTW), but it seems nobody here is interested. Thanks anyways.

General Discussion / Re: So who Watched the Watchmen?
« on: March 13, 2009, 02:37:44 pm »If not for the length, I would go see it again.HA. I know what you're REALLY talking about.
I haven't read Watchmen since I was 7.You read it when you were seven? Wow.
I loved the movie, personally. I was actually afraid they'd take out stuff like the blue penis or the sex scene or change the meaning of the ending. In fact, just the idea that they kept the penis, when it would have been so easy to cover up, is a testament to how faithful Snyder was to Moore's full vision. Luckily, all they changed was the stuff that needed to be cut so they could fit it into an already large three hour waistband.
Them's big pants. And them's comfy.
edit: I wanted to mention that while watching the movie I almost tore off my girlfriend's arm and that I had not been so excited about a book to film translation since Sin City. It's that good.

Polling / Re: Masamune or Grandleon?
« on: March 13, 2009, 01:53:26 pm »
i first played this game when i was in third grade. the thought of a shakespearean knight forced to live his days as a manfrog, then was able to find a sacred sword that was better than excalibur and then go travel through all eras of time, inspired the hell outta me.
i like masamune. that's what i grew up with. grandleon sounds french. frog is not french.
and as far as translation differences, i prefer the differences. to me, woolsley's (sp) translation is the best, as it was the first to let us in america peek into this otherwise unaccessable japanese treasure. i like the localization. vegetable and condiment names remind me of dbz, and i never liked them. a normal talking, non shakespearean frog would not have solidified as a dutiful knight of old in my mind. while some things i don't necessarily understand or agree with (ie. god of war, soup drinking contest, soda chugging at the fair) i still find it's the most well-rounded translation so far. i have not played the DS version, so i have no opinion of that one yet.
i like to think of woolsley as ONE of the creators, as he's the one that made it so I can play it. he "wrote" the AMERICAN version of the script.
that is to say, if not for good old ted, i wouldn't be posting here right now, and the compendium probably wouldn't exist. so my vote goes to masamune. however, naming it yourself is a damn cool idea that the creators should have thought of. but that had nothing to do with the translation.

is this project dead? i know that roe left the team, as well as xenith, and the crisis website's last news post was more than seven months ago. the most recent post on the compendium was a year ago.
is significant progress being made? or are things at a standstill? i liked the demo they released, and it just seems like every time they have a staff change, they change the entire game, and throw away everything they've done. if so, are roe's 100+ songs still going to be featured in crisis if it ever gets finished?
what about post ct ds? does that change the story at all?
i don't want to know when the game will be finished, nor do i care too much. but i would like to know if it's HAD any updates since they were last posted, as there is crisis stuff all over the compendium forums.
no offense, and please don't hate me for asking, but what is the deal?

Kajar Laboratories / Re: Chrono Clutch (frog to glenn) updated w art and script
« on: February 27, 2009, 03:59:52 am »
i hope this isn't a bad double post. i have legitimate new content! i wrote an introduction script for the game, and have the rough design i'm going with for Frog. First the picture.
i drew this with a wacom tablet in corel painter on my computer, as an attempt to draw Frog, and eventually the other characters, in a non-anime style. This is going to be a bit darker overall.
And now for the introduction to the game. Remember, this is first draft, so please give constructive criticism, but be nice Here it is so far:
Glenn:
Cyrus! NOOOOOOOOO!
Ozzie:
...a more fitting form...
Magus:
...yes...
A voice:
Glenn...Wake up...OI, GLENN!
A knight the size of a human but with the head of a frog opens his eyes. He sees a dim streetlight and two silver-haired children over him, each one staring into one eye.
Frog:
Tell me who you are before I cut off your heads.
You don't fool me. I know you're not children.
Einz:
Wow, Glenn. You're mean. Should we tell him, Lanz?
Lanz:
Hmm, I don't know Einz. Maybe he remembers, Einz.
Frog:
Remembers what?
Einz:
So much for that.
Frog:
You have five seconds.
Einz:
Now don't jump the gun. Tee hee!
Lanz:
Yeah, calm down, Glenn. We're in this together.
Do you remember where you are? That was a pretty
bad fire.
Frog:
Fire? Where? Where is the Masamune? Good God,
don't tell me I lost it! Where are we? I
demand an answer now!
Another child, slightly older looking, comes through
a door to the side.
Zera:
Enough playing. It is time to introduce ourselves.
Einz:
You're no fun!
Lanz:
Fine. My name is--
Einz:
In order, please!
My name is Einz, I'm the youngest!
Lanz:
By less than a minute! My name is Lanz.
We live in your new sword.
Frog:
My NEW sword? Oh no. It really IS gone.
Zera:
Fear not, Glenn. My name is Zera. We are the
siblings of the sword, Einlanzer. I regret
to inform you that you probably do not remember
this because your dimension was destroyed.
Frog:
Dimension? As a measurement? What is your
meaning, nightmare?
Zera presents the Einlanzer. Frog takes it reluctantly.
Zera:
I'm sorry. It was Dalton. He destroyed your world,
but not before he swapped us for the legendary
Masamune. It is not WE who should be feared. We
are merely dreams.
Frog:
Preposterous! Take me home, immediately!
Einz:
Buddy, we'd love to, but...
Lanz:
...It's just not there anymore.
Frog:
I refuse to believe that. Dalton! Impossible.
Lanz:
Masa and Mune were trying to defend you. You were
trapped in your own home under a sleeping spell
when he came.
Einz:
The thing is, we come from Sunstone. Had we come
from Moonstone, we would have been nightmares.
We've been charged with life energy. Masa and
Mune, now THEY came from Dreamstone, which allows
them to conform to the needs of the carrier.
Frog:
They were taken. And Queen Leene? The King?
What of them?
Lanz:
Dalton. He sneaked up and stabbed Masa and Mune
in the back. With US! And they...they're...
Zera:
I'm so sorry, Glenn.
Dalton appears from a Red Gate. He is with Ozzie.
Ozzie:
Ah, the little froggie! Didn't think we'd find YOU here.
Frog:
Ozzie! Dalton! This sword looks like the Masamune,
but it feels so different! So strange.
Dalton:
A giant frog? Interesting. I think I'll dissect you.
Lanz:
Glenn! Jump!
Einz:
No, that's a terrible idea! You have no clue what's down there!
Zera:
It's his only chance. We have to reenter the sword, and push!
Dalton points the Masamune at Frog, and it flies directly toward his head. The three siblings run into him, knocking him over the edge of the fence at the end of time.
Ozzie:
I...didn't see that coming.
Dalton:
Hm. Let us go. We have more to change. More to collect.
Ozzie:
Aren't you gonna check and see if they're DEAD?
Dalton:
Either way, it doesn't matter. They'll be falling for an eternity.
He laughs. He takes out what looks like a pocketwatch, turns a dial, and a Red Gate appears next to him. He enters and Ozzie follows.
A hanging red wire is attached to the side of the platform. After following it down, it is revealed to be Frog's tongue, the only thing keeping him from falling.
Frog loses his grip, and falls.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: If you could change Chrono Trigger, how would you do it?
« on: February 18, 2009, 01:41:31 pm »
1. more double/triple techs. but with a catch: instead of collecting points to get the next PRESET tech, you choose between two, like marle can choose between attack magic and healing magic, chrono can choose physical tech or sky tech, etc. while we're at it, a different leveling system where you're credited for what you DO in battles, like if you attack a lot you get strength and speed, if you heal a lot, you get magic and hp, if you defend or use items, you get evade and defense. something like that. would make pvp possible, would be more like cross's system(which i thoroughly enjoyed, a departure from the norm) and would cement the idea that you control your own future.
2. more dinosaurs in prehistory. you get dactyls and trex's. but there's so much room for more. seriouslythis game has everything else. (say this out loud really fast) robots, mutants, TIME TRAVEL, apocalyptic future, magic users, a DEVIL ALIEN, swords, knights, tanks, explosions, epic landscapes, FLOATING ISLANDS, people with radically unnatural hair colors, monsters INSTEAD of animals (domesticated not included), magic badguys who EVOLVED FROM SAID MONSTERS, causality, humor, tragedy, dragons, giant frogs, cavemen, castles, human sacrifice, the END of the WORLD, dino people, friggin dracula(either magus or slash, take your pick), and A COUPLE DINOSAURS. i say MORE.
3. bigger towns. it felt weird going from huge dungeon to huge forest to huge factory to tiny world map with a couple buildings and each one has one or two people in it. it felt epic because along with the story, there were a lot of eras to visit, but the world itself felt tiny. especially when you compare it with cross, which i find overpopulated and hardly magical. it needed more dimensions to go to! that's all i'm saying. maybe fewer characters. at least ct's few characters are pretty much all bad-asses.
4. am i the only person who wanted to physically change frog to his human form? or see it happen, even in an ending, or a fast underdeveloped cutscene, or a quick explanation of how he gets to be himself again? cause i saw the psx ending and i'm not satisfied at all. that may be an imposter as far as i'm concerned. they don't show his face. they don't show him change. i think noble tragic hero frog is hiding in his forest house and eating worms cause they found fake glenn. i hoped they'd add it to the psx version in-game. i hoped they might do it when i heard about the ds version. no dice so far.
anyway, that's pretty much what i would change.
