Submissions / Magus cosplay
« on: February 04, 2018, 04:19:58 pm »
What I've been up to for the past several months was an attempt at cosplaying Magus Zeal. I'd been doing this wiht Legend of Zelda for years, in the form of NES era Link, but I really always identified with Magus so I wanted to give that a shot.

after getting the general materials needed, one of the first things I wanted to begin building was the amulet, Magus's memento of Schala. The plan was to cut sheet metal and bend it a bit, but I ran into a lot of trouble deburring the edges and decided that duct tape gave it a nice sort of trim.

I didn't add much to it until later on, because I didn't wanna end up procrastinating any further :P  So I began constructing the Raven armor and Raven codpiece.

cardboard makes up the core body of both, along with multiple layers of duct tape and a leather fabric "skin".

I used some duct tape to create beltloops, so I could keep everything fastened in place. After this, I just found a good pair of jeans and dyed them purple, simple as that. It's nice to have pockets when you're wearing this. :P

The scary part which tripped me up for awhile was the widow's peak. I already went through one wig trying to add this in, and it didn't go so well. this time, I at least had something to work with on the wig itself, and the results were not disappointing (though I think it could still use some adjusting - basically, cutting a piece of cloth and gluing it on underneath the bangs, before doing some more gluing and cutting. A little spirit gum to the forehead, and some to the sideburns to cover up that odd contrast in hair color, aaannddd...

...I'm ready to go around pining for my sister!

gloves and boots were very little trouble, since they could simply be ordered. Rather than go too fancy on those boots though, I just used more duct tape. Good enough for me.

I was at Wizard World STL yesterday with this, and had a great time. I also added a ring of reflective silver duct tape to my thigh opposite the amulet, just for that metal brace he wears in artwork. I don't really have picture of it though:x

Well anyways, that's all I have to share on it for now. :) I'll update you on anything interesting.

Fan Art / A couple old Schala-isms and some stuff
« on: October 17, 2015, 07:17:07 pm »
I may have put some of this in the deviantArt thread awhile back, but Don't think I ever really posted it otherwise.

first an old sketch image. Magus, Magus, why don't you hide your amulet when in Zeal? Do you *want* to be recognized?

...maybe he does...?

most of what I do nowadays is just goofy little doodles, like this Chrono Trigger DS monstrosity, in the Darkness Beyond Time (who says you can't have fun there?)

And finally this, from the father of her big sister

Is there any information which indirectly mentions Dalton in Chrono Cross? My assumption is that he remains in charge of *at least* Porre and outranks general viper, lynx, etc. However, I don't recall anyone in Cross mentioning such a supreme authority.

Basically, any information that isn't referring to him by name: I strongly strongly doubt that to exist anyways, if his declaration of ambitions in Chrono Trigger DS is to be such a big reveal. Just, anything like "the king", or "Viper only takes orders from one man", etc. Any clues as to Dalton's existence in 1020 AD.

My assumption is that if he does still reign high, he needs a place to do it. Thus, Guardia Castle may still be intact on the Zenan Mainland, and that is where he sits.

Just something I've been thinking about lately: If Guile truly is an amnesiac Magus, as CTDS's new ending seems to suggest, then while he may not remember or recognize Schala, he also has no memory of Zeal, Lavos, or even his dark life in the middle ages.

Is this really such a bad thing? Going from a tragedy magnet with skeletons in the closet, to a mystery-obsessed adventurer with a blank slate? Judging by Guile's reaction to the Frozen Flame, read in the context of CTDS, he doesn't handle the knowledge of Janus well and seems to reject it. Whether or not this means he has any idea who Schala is later on, or if she went to seek him out is completely up in the air. Perhaps she feels the same, even though they could both be standing right next to each other?

On the other hand, if anyone could remind Guile and help him come to terms with all that information coming back, Schala would definitely be the perfect candidate.

Submissions / Funny Bitstrips Stupidity

So any time you have a device that lets you customize characters, you just *have* to try and recreate your favorite fictional folks, right? It's like with Miis.

Needless to say, I attempted creating Magus with the Bitstrips Facebook ap, and the results... hoo boy. It looked so much like him that I started put him in stupid situations and now I can't stop laughing. Yes it is dumb and involves a facebook app of all things, but I can't help but giggle at it and thought I'd share some of my creations.

I decided to entertain a friend by making a version special avatar for him!

Hey guys, long time no see. Again. (this is what happens when I don't bookmark forums. I'm amazed I was still logged in!)

Anyways I see there's been 3DS discussion off and on, but no actual 3DS thread, for the purpose of exchanging friend codes and sending stupid shit to each other in swapnotes. I would like to change this, very much. D:

For the record, I am at 3136-6797-1790

 Sup bitches

What's been going on while fiendlord was away?

It's one thing when at least two well-recieved fan projects are shut down seemingly because they could be a real threat (or something).

Now, according to a few folks, Square-Enix is attempting to prohibit any news media, fan media, or otherwise in the country of Germany, from publishing content relating to their products.

Again, just the two sources for now, but has anyone else heard anything about this?

...So, normally, I stick to the Chrono Trigger side of the fence. I never really liked the concept of random encounters, or having my precious time wasted by another friggin bat who just had to stop me from walking toward a chest. But I had to pick this game up, because frankly, everyone has been talking about it, and I wasn't going to be the uncultured swine.

Holy shit yes I love this game. I remember how I felt about Chrono Trigger when I was a child, and now I'm getting all like that again for these guys.

Anyway, I don't play in the series that much. I have the first one on Virtual Console, I got about halfway through 4, have 5 in anthologies that I haven't touched, and am now playing 6 (also in anthologies.) So, I don't know how common this is... ...is it me, or does this game successfully drop a few anvils regarding... I dunno, life? the environment? Our whole fiasco with oil and terrorist paranoia? I mean the continent that Vector is located on even looks *very vaguely and upside down, feel free to consider this Epileptic-tree thinking* like North America some, while the opera house seems located in a very warped and near-unrecognizable Europe. The map in general feels like they took North America, Eurasia, and Australia, rearranged them and flipped them as needed, then warped what was left so you wouldn't notice it at first.

...or I could be thinking too hard about this. Still, I don't think it a stretch that the plot was based on a few similar issues in our world, at the time. And now, I'm still seeing similarities.

27
Either I forgot to list it (why?), or I have no friends here. And I know the latter is bullshit. :P

Beginning algebra in college is an evil substance that this planet must be rid of. algebra in the summer is an even more vile substance. However, if you play registration right, you might end up with a nice long version of it that doesn't meet as often.

Needless to say, I must leave sis, kitty, pretty buildings, etc. and go complete it so I can stomp on it afterward and burn the textbook.

I'll see you guys in a few months. *waves*

I've mysteriously disappeared lately, and even though everyone probably cares more about the RP than they do what actually happened to me, I'll tell you anyways that connection was lost for a little bit after Christmas eve. I got it back up just now, so stop complaining. :P

General Discussion / Leaving the nest (without really going anywhere)
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:34:40 pm »
I was wondering if anyone knew any other worthwhile Chrono Trigger communities? Order of the Black Wind is dead, and that was the only other really enjoyable place I knew of. Does anyone know if Chronicles is any good? Or should I avoid it?
