Polling / Re: Who are your leads?

I often use Glenn, Lucca, and either Chrono (because he's the protagonist I suppose) or Ayla.  Glenn and Lucca have pretty much the best dual tech in the game- Frog Flare.  Frog only needs to be at a quarter health and it's already devastating to all enemies.  Ayla and Glenn also have a pretty good single enemy attack together- Jump Kick or something.  Especially good if one of them has the Prism Specs...

Magus- he's boring with his lack of Dual-techs.

But as fun and challenging as it is killing him with Glenn alone at North Cape, it doesn't make sense and doesn't suit Glenn's character either.

On second thought, Crono is also a bit boring, seeing as he doesn't talk.  He's however been too firmly engraved in my heard as a central Avatar of the Chrono-series.

I like the El Nido Archipelago, the area has a cultural flair, that would need to be developed.  It would therefore need more people and bigger cities.  That should all come with time though, so let's say... El Nido 1700 A.D.

The only problem I can think of, is that it seems like a quite tropical area with no Winter... and I love Snow.

I voted for Batman, but only because Dr. Doom wasn't available.  Neutralizing electricity and using a magnetic field to repel a sword would be childs play for the Lord of Latveria.  Of course, if Crono is using the Rainbow, other measures would be required, but Doom would figure something out.  Batman would have a harder time, but he could manage it if he had enough information and time to prepare.

Well this thread has made me laugh a lot.  Thanks!

I voted for Kid of course.  Marle's sexy in Cyan's german translation, but she still doesn't have the amount of character Kid does.  Allow me to quote myself from the big Character Feature poll discussion, because I said it so well back then:

Quote
Kid is beautiful.  She's a piece of a star that fell from the sky.  She's strong, pure-hearted, compassionate, brave, bold, charmingly blunt, and very stylish.  She's the kind of woman I could fall in love with and my favorite character from any videogame.

Und jetzt, auf Deutsch:
Quote

Sorry, I couldn't resist.  Anyway, as second choices... no. There are no second choices.

And just because Glenn loves his friend Cyrus deeply, doesn't mean he's gay...  But I know a lot of people have trouble grasping the concept of non-sexual love.

I think it's a romantic idea that a musician could have such incredible control over sound that he could use it for offensive purposes as well... farfetched, sure... but it is Chrono Cross.

As for the pick.  This is obviously just because the design team was too lazy to design different harps and guitars for Irenes and Nikki respectively.  It doesn't really have much to do with his character and I think there are more important aspects in judging his design.  He was way more style and character than Viper.  Viper really just comes off as a naive old man for most of the game.  Sure, it's nice that he wakes up later on... but so does half the cast.  His coat is cool, I suppose.  But really, his personality's not that interesting...

I find it odd that besides Serge, Kid, & Harle, almost none of the overall A grades were close to unanimous at all. Most were close by 1 or 2 votes of being tied or surpassed by a B...While most of the D grades WERE as highly voted so as Serge, Kid, & Harle were voted A...But then again, maybe it means nothing because Grobyc was the highest voted character with 19 votes total, Steena the lowest with 8 total...and both Kid & Serge got the highest A grades with 10 A votes.

Hooray for democracy!...?

I suppose that demonstrates that some of the variety in the cast of characters offers "something for everyone", while some of the variety just sucks.  I personally don't understand Viper scoring an A while Nikki comes off with a mere B... Apparently it really bothers people that he attacks with a guitar.

Alot of characters in CC were hardly worth while...I still say Pip deserved a damn high grade.  That thing was actually really useful in battles for healing and did pretty decent damage..I found Sneff, Mojo, Skelly and like 20 others to be completely useless to me.  I just left them to die =]
Because his character and story were practically non-existent.  And Chrono Cross isn't even that difficult, so it's not like being good in battle is that important...  But I suppose it's important to you. :)

I forgot we did this... Interesting reading through these again. I can't believe I even wrote that well at one point.

I can't believe I wrote that poorly at one point.  Too many short sentences, one after another and such... oh well.

Was anyone else here not too thrilled by the Arrange preview?  It's a nice string orchestration, I suppose.  Nothing really quite as great as some of the original tracks on the OST though, like Scars of Time and Jellyfish Sea. Though I'm still interested of course...

Site Updates / Re: Chrono Trigger DS Goes to Europe
« on: September 28, 2008, 07:28:30 am »
From what I've read, CT is only being translated into French.  It's pretty dissappointing, seeing as how there are way more German-speakers in Europe.  The reason for this allegedly is that the series is relatively unknown among german-speakers... which is of course because it was never released to them (which holds true for France as well).  But it is still known. I've been posting on some german-speaking boards, and a lot of fans are upset.  There is still naturally the Fan-translation from Cyan, but it would have been nice to receive an official translation.  Of course it's not the first time Square-Enix screws over its Fans.

Special Event Polling / Re: Rate Cross Characters 41: Van

Design: He looks snotty

Battle: Nicht so gut

Tilt: Oh, I don't like Van... His father's a cool artist, but Van goes around hitting monsters with a piggy-bank...  The contrast between his Home World and Another World family is interesting, but that doesn't make Home-world Van a likeable character.

Why is voting closed?... I would have voted B.

Beautiful work, I'm really enjoying it!  I also made sure to inform the Chrono Shock community about it and Jade's having fun with it as well...

Grobyc, for obvious reasons. And I'm apparently the first to vote for him.

So the votes in Further Character Discussion are being counted? That'd be nice.

(Hm, Kid's C votes seemed to have dissappeared... how does this cancelling out business work?)

Special Event Polling / Re: Rate Cross Characters 31: Radius
« on: October 05, 2007, 07:23:15 am »
Design: An old man in a cool outfit.  For some reason he fights with a cane instead of a sword... one obvious reason being that old people stereotypically wield canes. :/ Oh, and the other obvious reason being that there were already enough characters with swords.

Battle: As stated, well rounded, but nothing special.

Tilt: Radius is certainly one of the most well-developed characters in the game.  However, I was never crazy about him.  He's a sad old man with a dark pastwho's strong and does what's right... I don't know, he just doesn't resonate with me that much.  But I do like him.  And he is very relevant.
