One of the biggest complaints about Chrono Cross is that it has too many characters. So out of the 40-some available playables, which ones can be combined to create a "new" character and help streamline the plot?
Basically I wanna know if it's okay to squish Karsh and Glenn into one singular single failure Deva Knight for the sake of a fanfic.

Kid's quiet about her past too, but it's like I know her entire life story
compared to how little I know about Magil.
From time to time I find myself wondering who he is, where he came from, and so
on. I'd ask Kid, but I get the impression she knows as little about him as I do.
In Radical Dreamers, Serge met Kid and adventured with her since she was around 13. It mentions Magil knew Kid before then and saved her from Lynx when she was about 10, but was he always around for those years, or did he have some business elsewhere from time to time?

In Radical Dreamers Magil(Magus) is frequently victim of magic type maladies, like confusion. Kid, however, doesn't seem to be effected by anything, especially in the ghost scene where Serge and Magil both seem to be under its spell.

What are some interesting little things you've noticed about the games that don't necessarily warrant their own topic?
The player characters of Chrono Trigger match up to the color wheel by hair color except for Robo.
Characters who fall under the "cool" color scheme (Lucca, Frog, Magus) tended to have darker backstories than the characters under the "warm" color scheme (Crono, Marle, Ayla). Robo more or less falls in the middle, although he comes from a line of genocidal robots, he's a silly metal man with a Rick Astley themesong.

Polling / Cross Characters

After some bored tallying, I have discovered that Chrono Cross had more characters than Chrono Trigger had armor, including character-specific ones.
I know there have been character rating polls before and "who's your favorite character" ones, but this is more of a long-running elimination sort of thing (I'll allow you to change your vote at any time). If you were to remake the story of Cross, which characters would make the cut? Why?
You are limited to 18 choices on this, but I encourage you to think about your choices and choose less. I chose 18 because of an earlier tally (I counted how many characters were missing from a crowded Cross fanart) and it is four more characters than Final Fantasy 6 had.
Note that this isn't necessarily deciding who gets cut from the plot entirely, just who should remain an NPC. I'll probably change this post as stuff comes in.

Figured this would be the best place for such a topic. I've seen it come up as plot points in many a fanfic (even the clean ones!), so it's got me curious. Of the Chrono characters, Trigger especially, which ones do you believe to be virgins... or otherwise?
