General Discussion / A permanent cosplay topic?
« on: September 12, 2010, 11:14:34 pm »
I'm curious to know if it could be at all possible to have a big permanent topic for discussing cosplay from Chrono Trigger, Radical Dreamers, and Chrono Cross. Whether it be our own awesome creations, or seriously epic and authentic ones we've found pics of online.

And I'm pleased as ever with the good news I got this morning - I'm joyfully now %50 done with my prince Janus costume that I and a close friend have been working on. All that remains to complete on it is to sew together the fabric for the costume itself, buy a pair of elf shoes that we found online, and cover the shoes with what's left of fabric from the costume. Still could use some grey-blue contact lenses, but that could be purchased later... just need to get the main bulk of it all finished and awesome before worrying about little details like that. LOL, funny I say that, since I went to the trouble of getting a purple cat plushie that meows 3 times when you squeeze it - going to use a dark purple fabric pen to make it look like Alfador.

And in future plans, I am thinking of trying to cosplay as NeoFio for the sake of a big Chrono Cross cosplay group that a friend of mine is planning to form (so far only have 3 other people interested, and he's been having issues arguing with this other friend of ours over who will cosplay as Serge... jeez...).

I may have not had a badge, but I still had an epic time!

A close friend briefly let me borrow his badge to go see the BttF DeLorean, sneak a quick peek at some game booths, etc. And later on, me and some other friends waited in line for the big SEGA-sponsored deal at GameWorks... 2 free hours of gaming, a chance at winning epic prize packages in a raffle, and FREE FOOD/DRINKS. It was fantastic. If I had that much fun without a badge, then I'd probably be in paradise if I could fully attend the con.

Oh, and several cosplay buds of mine got their photos on several gaming sites (as well as landing a 'booth dude' job for next year, in the case of my friend Chris who was cosplaying as Dastan from Prince of Persia: Sands of Time). My friend Elias certainly got the most photos taken - he was Wicket the Ewok.  :kamina

Next year, if I don't get kidnapped off to KumoriCon by my friend Kim, I'm definitely attending PAX. And I highly hope that we can all manage to have a true forum meetup arranged for it, as well. We all have a year to plan... so let's make it awesome!

Okay. I'm going to show up around 1pm and hang out at the convention center for an hour or so.

Planning to cosplay as "Sporty Link" (Zelda sports jacket, matching athletic pants, green Link hat, elf ears), and dork around just enjoying the awesome PAX-tastic atmosphere since I'm not able to enjoy the con itself...

So - are we going to make some organized plans for this?

Such as where we are all going to meet up (preferably someplace that doesn't require a con badge, since I will be coming without one due to not being able to afford it). I suggest having it be someplace like Freeway Park, which is not only easy to get to via the 4th floor in the center, but seriously awesome to take photos at (if you happen to be wearing cosplay, mainly).

Doesn't look like I'll have my Janus cosplay done in time, so I'll just bring along Alfador.

35
Ooooh. With that nice little amount of folks coming, perhaps I should bring some sort of tasty treat that I can share with everyone... maybe some Pocky?

36
Interesting to hear that. Still not able to get a badge, though (no money).

And so..... is there really going to be a board meetup of some kind this year?

Very eager to do it... with or without cosplay. Definitely bringing Alfador. <3

If anyone wants to do a meetup at PAX, I suggest it being on a Saturday.

Won't be able to get a badge for the con, but that doesn't mean I can't have fun hanging out in the "legal areas" of the center (where a badge isn't required). And if I am lucky enough, I might have my Janus cosplay done in time (and if not, oh well... at least I can bring my Alfador plushie).

I LOVE YOU FOR DISCUSSING THIS!!!!! <3

I am so glad that someone on this board found out about that game. I had such a blast playing a demo that I got of it, and desperately sought to get my own copy. Sadly never did, but I was overjoyed when a friend let me borrow it for as long as it took me to finish the game.

It'd kick ass if this game were to have a remake or sequel, utilizing the graphical awesomeness currently available and such. Even more so if the same voice acting talent could be involved.  :kamina

I wonder if screenshots of what my sister did with Soul Calibur 4 might count as fanwork...

But oh man, this is so totally awesome of them to do. <3 <3 <3

Once we're able to take some pictures (especially ones that don't suck; our camera can be quite annoying sometimes), I'll be sure to post them on here ASAP....

Speaking of roleplay characters, that's what we worked on last night - "Lady Kara", the villainess a friend of mine based on elements of some of my own roleplay characters and put in his Disgaea comic. We got her looking so close to the original art that it is freaky-awesome.

...Oh, and we got Magus finished, too. May not have pointy ears, but he is UBER BADASS.

So... The other day I picked up a copy of Soul Calibur 4. Been wanting it for a while, but one thing that made me seriously pursue getting it was that my brother discovered online that people have been using its character creator to do some epic stuff. By that, I mean trying to put other beloved game characters into the game somehow with the myriad of unlockable items that're in the game. My sister was certainly overjoyed in getting the game, being quite learned in doing this, having made on her b/f's savegame her own variation of Noel from BlazBlue (calls her Noabelle).

My sister might not have unlocked everything, but oh shit... with what she managed to get in 2 days, tonight she did something AWESOME - create a badass (and sexy) katana-wielder who LOOKS LIKE CRONO!

Not sure when we'll be able to do it, but we plan to take a good photo of him and then video footage (Because any character you create can be inserted into a battle movie; let's just say that I nearly jizzed my pants when I saw Crono appear, wielding the original Soul Calibur sword. It may be a pretty big sword for him to wield, but just being able to have him in a movie scene like that is thrilling.). Bwa ha... and my sister aims to create an SC version of Magus once she acquires better items to use (already got him started, with an epic scythe/voice bits taken from the character Zasalamel).

Dang... massive update indeed. Makes me feel all awesome inside.

(and also makes me curse the fact that I'm still having the artist's version of writer's block; I want to do some decent CT fan art and contribute it to the site, but... ugh... having trouble getting motivated)

Knowing them with how they've screwed us in the past, this won't be Chrono-related.

And it might not be an RPG, either, unless they're redesigning the Front Mission universe.

I'm not getting my hopes up for it being related to anything I love from S-E, and personally looking forward to whatever this game is that it'll be something involving the steampunk genre.
