Crono wasn't alone against Lavos.
But he could have been, as seen in New Game+
You heard it here, folks. Canon ending is the New Game+ one.

What wasn't amazing about Slash & Confuse? They were totally badass.
Would you explain how the game could balance Slash?
QuoteAlso, what suggests that magic is still usable?
That's kind of backwards logic...You should go by what evidence we have: they learn Magic & have Magic. I don't have to supply evidence that it goes away because nothing contradicts that. YOUR theory is the one that lacks evidence...
What evidence is there that magic still works, though? It's backwards, but I'm curious.
QuoteUm, yeah. But why use his weaker techs when he can use Holy Dragon Sword and BlackHole and lay quite a beatdown with his bare hands? (And why recode his skills, mostly positional based, to work on the player's party?)
Well, there's the biggest evidence against this whole claim...Crono takes down LAVOS with his "weaker Techs"...and then uses these lame-o new ones & gets trounced by Serge & Co.
Crono wasn't alone against Lavos.

Does Magic even work anymore?
Did this become the end of FFVI or something...? Why wouldn't his Magic work? And regardless, Crono's got Techs that weren't Magic...

Quote from: ArcaneAlso... I'd say if he's spent fourteen years with nothing to fight his skills would definitely atrophy, and if elements work for him, why try?
Just sounds like a cop-out...and even if Elements work, he'd still have access to Techs (just like people in Cross have access to their Techs AND Elements at the same time)...

Let's pretend you're Crono. (har har then you cudnt talk)
You just left a burning kingdom. You are possibly highly wanted. You now have a child, who could be in danger.
WHY WOULD YOU GO BY CRONO AFTER THAT?

All conjecture, but perhaps I can give some INTERESTING conjecture.

Wait, what? He's not Crono because he doesn't say he is?
Why would he bother introducing himself? For one part, he hasn't seen anyone in quite a long time, which kind of atrophies the social skills, for another he could theoretically have taken an oath not to reveal himself as the previous King of Guardia even assuming Marle and he were in office long enough for him to be known...
And yet another thing that'd make him not introduce himself as Crono...
Let's pretend you're Crono in that situation as Miguel. These kids do not know you as Crono. The only one who theoretically COULD even recognize Crono would be Magus as Guile, and that was not meant to be.
So why would he introduce himself as Crono?

It'd explain Miguel being pretty cold.

I just had a thought about Miguel.
There are people who say he can't be Crono because, oh lord, Crono uses a Katana!
Where.. is Miguel going to get a katana in ten years in a frozen world? With metal robots running around everywhere? I'm sure those are hell on a katana, too.

Chrono Trigger Modification / Re: In game loading.
« on: October 26, 2007, 07:50:36 am »I learned at romhacking.net that CT actually has a built-in reset function. (L+R + Start + Select).
This does save some time by skipping the pendulum.
Didn't all of the major SNES games have this?

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / A theory on the Time Devourer
« on: October 26, 2007, 05:18:24 am »
I was thinking, the other day, how would Lavos get so much power while in the Darkness Beyond Time?
What do I know about Lavos, I asked?
1) He burrowed into the planet's crust to harvest DNA. Not much is known about his method, perhaps the ability to absorb from a great distance?
2) He was sent to the Darkness Beyond Time after events in Trigger.
3) He then fused with Schala.
And what do I know about the Darkness Beyond Time?
1) The Darkness Beyond Time is the final wastebasket for timelines nullified by time travel.
2) It is possibly the resting place for all dimensions' timelines.
My theory is this: Lavos used DNA from all of those different timelines to become the Time Devourer. He fused with Schala at some point, perhaps harnessing her considerable magic power. It also seems to me like Lavos has godlike power, but perhaps a lack of finesse.
He now either uses Schala's abilities to harvest DNA from all the various timelines or sacrifies Lavos Spawn to do it. Lavos Spawn, not being connected to Schala, can only last a short time there.
Even assuming it's not the resting point for all dimension's timelines, it's still a considerable resource of DNA. Imagine how different the people are in the Reptite Dimension, or if the Darkness Beyond Time even spans the entire universe!

Chrono Cross Modification / Re: Chrono Cross DEBUG MODE FOUND!!
« on: October 25, 2007, 10:40:35 am »
Yeah.
There's a program known as Renegade you can get that does quite a lot of stuff for you, like this. It can link to SSSPSX, pSX 1.11, and PCSX.
http://doc.kodewerx.net/tools/misc/renegade64.rar That's Renegade.
To use it, start it up, browse the top menues until you find Attach, and click it. Find your emulator from the dropdown box and click Attach. Then you can use Code Search. A warning.. the numbers are all in hex in it.
http://doc.kodewerx.net/generic_code_hacking.html That's about everything I can help with. I haven't done much for PSX.

I really just know it does debugging. Which is more than I can say for ePSXe, without a memory editor.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Character collection paths?
« on: October 22, 2007, 01:41:02 pm »
I'm playing Chrono Cross again, and I want to get the most characters possible per playthrough. As I've ALREADY missed Mojo, I'm curious as to if anyone has lists of what you need and where it is to get each character, without being a spoily walkthrough.
For example, something like..
Leene Square: Make sure to get the third chicken nugget while you're here to recruit the lunch box, you can choose between Norstein Bekkler and G. I. Jogger here which affects blah blah blah and allows you to get blah or blah in the future.
