Articles / Re: The Ethics of Lavos
« on: October 11, 2006, 08:52:45 am »
My belief is that Lavos is an intelligent being. It may have been evil to us, but from Lavos' point of view it was just doing what it need to do to survive. In a strange way, Crono and co coming to kill Lavos would actually be evil from Lavos' point of view.
Basically, I believe that because there is no true evil, Lavos can not be evil. It may have manipulated an entire planets evolution, but from his point of view he would be doing good and from our point of view it would be doing evil.
While Lavos may be capable of moral decisions, it probably doesn't see humans as anything important.

EDIT: In a strange sense Lavos mirrors the human race. We shape the world the way we want it and in the process we have driven many species to extintion. All to further our evolution.
I am not trying to say the human race is evil, i'm just pointing out a simularity.

Once again I need help with ROM Hacking :lee:
For some reason I have downloaded Chrono Tweaker and installed Visual Basic 6.
When I try to load up the ROM in it, the ROM doesn't load. Why is this? :?
If anyone knows why please tell me.

Chrono Trigger Modification / Re: Temporal Flux Feature Suggestions

It's hard to think of somthing to add to somthing that is almost perfect.
I'd probably like an undo button if possible.

I can't think of much else. Temporal Flux is an incredible ROM Hacker and I glad that such a program has been created.
Keep up the good work! :D

Reality, Real-World Connections, and the Supernatural / Re: Kajar reference?

I apologize beforehand if this has been mentioned before, but while doing some unrelated research today I noticed that the second-to-last ruling dynasty of Iran was the Qajar Dynasty.  From my understanding, in Arabic/Farsi romanization "K" can replace "Q".  This interested me, given the Persian influence evident in Zeal.  Haven't found anything on Enhasa yet, but things always seem to pop into view randomly around these parts.

That's interesting. Medina is also a middle eastern reference (i think) perhaps the games creators (or Ted Wolsey) decided to draw upon Middle Eastern Names and culture.
Interesting...

So in Chrono Trigger the meaning of "All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu...This is my belief...at least for now!" can be interpreted as all life begins and ends with chaos. Granted it still can mean water, but more along the lines of a chaotic swirling pool of it.

OK it's almost 1 in the morning so don't blame me if this sounds retarded. But if it can be interpreted as all life begins and ends with chaos. Chaos could be Lavos.
He gave intelligence to the humans and shaped evolution. Then in 1999 AD it ended with Lavos.
Anyway "All begins with Lavos and end with Lavos" make sense to me :D
But it's just speculation and probably is not the true meaning (if there is any)

All of those examples are dreadful but at least half of them could be prevented if the WORLD would work together as a whole.  When you watch those futuristic shows or anime, there is one thing that most of them have in common...the world is in peace.  We are not fighting with each other. And then we can concentrate on things like global warming, space travel and famine and desease. That is the only way the species will survive into the future.

I agree with you (not about the anime thing though). If we wern't spending so much money on war then things like schools, hospitals and scientific research would have more money spent on them.
Unfortunetly I don't see the countries of the world stopping war. Not yet.

General Discussion / Re: Why you should exercise.
« on: September 29, 2006, 07:30:14 am »
Exercising is a recursive process; the more you do it, the easier it gets.
Yeah I agree. Recently I have started exerciseing more, since then I have found it easier to go for longer on the exercise bike without being tired out and I can run for much longer now :D

i agree with you.  it doesnt matter what people say, being healthy is a lifestyle choice.  i was at a japanese restaurant  a few months ago and i watched as a morbidly obese couple slurped down a gargantuan meal.  rice, sweet tea, and dessert, the whole works.  then at the table after they finished, the man injected his wife with insulin.  i havent eaten there in almost a year because of that image.

:lee: That post gave me nightmares...

This sounds interesting.
Just one thing I would like to point out. You said that Magus was Guile. Did you intend that or not. I think Guile was supposed to be Magus but they cut his story because of Plot difficulties (crappy excuse).
But this sounds cool and I can't wait to see more. I like the idea of Serge and Lynx being corrupted by the flame :D
