Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Think there will be a new chrono game?
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:43:38 am »Quote from:Well in the remake for playstation we got a new ending that led to chrono cross.
I don't know how much that's true...I mean, Chrono Cross came out like a little over two weeks after the PSX version of Chrono Trigger. And, seeing how we all know how half-assed the CT port was, I'm sure that they had already developed most if not all of Chrono Cross and then figured to just add a CT port since they could slap it together pretty quick-like. So I think the ending was just an added bonus to help fans connect the dots a little better.
Well good God, it was an emulator and ROM on a disc with muddy sound effects. Same as all of Squeenix's SNES -> Playstation ports.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Re: Telepod - Any Known Materials?
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:32:31 am »
Well as far as I've heard, there's no dreamstone in the teleporter. However, there is dreamstone in the pendant. That's where your reaction came from. It's more than likely the Entity's direct involvement in the story that the pendant just HAPPENED to slip off of Marle's neck when she went into the gate.
As far as the gate key, I don't think it's so much the material it's made of. I think that it might have been the main drive mechanism for the teleporter. The gate at the Millennial Fair didn't exist before the teleporter was used as far as I know. All of the other gates that were used were pre-existing phenomena. Lucca used the gate key to open them. This is why I think it's actually a part of the teleporter.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Re: Schala a Violation of the Conservation of Matter?
« on: July 08, 2008, 02:00:42 am »Black holes are possible violations of the conservation of matter? I never heard of that. I'll have to do some reseach before I can fully consider your suggestion.
They're not sure, but I believe that black holes don't destroy matter, they compress matter and energy to a singularity until it can't hold anymore, and a universe is born.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Re: So, What is the Entity in CT?
« on: July 06, 2008, 08:29:10 pm »QuoteGentlemen, this is the analysis forum.
Thanks so much for contributing to the ANALYSIS portion of this forum.
But, yeah, Lakon, feel free to look at it however you like. God, The Planet, Sparky, whatever - the Entity is a component of the Chrono series not to be ignored. I personally believe that it is The Planet - and I only came to that conclusion after spending quite a bit of time around here. But I also think the creators intentionally left it vague and open to interpretation... We don't want it ALL spelled out for us, now do we?
Very true, because look at some of the topics on the analysis forum.
I mean, me and Thought and a couple of other guys are trying to find out if quantum mechanics and quantum physics apply in the Chrono universe.
And the Entity is more than likely the planet itself. This could also account for the foil of all plans to try and grow food in the ruined future, I think. Like the Entity was damaged and wounded greatly by Lavos, if not dead or dying.
Honestly, in the ruined future, I don't believe the seeds would have grown enough, and the Enertrons would have to eventually stop working. Either the people evolve to be able to eat metal, or humankind would have been wiped out of existence by the harsh environment and Mother Brain.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Re: Schala a Violation of the Conservation of Matter?
« on: July 06, 2008, 07:53:55 pm »But seriously, there are an infinite number of dimensions. And seeing as how that's true, there is an infinite amount of matter and energy contained among those dimensions. And you're right, it would theoretically be possible to borrow from other dimensions. It's like the math problem 14-9. We all know that the answer is 5, all of the numbers exist, and they work with each other with an action. Well, 9 cannot be subtracted from 4, so 4 must borrow another set of operands from it's neighboring 10. I think this will actually make your #3 viable. I agree with that, provided that an infinite number of dimensions implies an infinite amount of energy. The only real issue with Option 3 is that either it requires that changes that can be noticed (given a sufficiently omniscient observer w/respect to any one universe), or that energy is not quantized (to allow for infinitesimal amounts being removed at a time).
Both of which are somewhat ugly to work with; the former would eventually make it obvious to any sufficiently advanced civilization that there are multiple dimensions (shortly before LAVOS RISES FROM THE EARTH AND EATS THEM ALL HA HA HA HA HA), while the latter makes it extremely hard to make a consistent form of quantum mechanics.
True. This world these guys created has got to have deeper inner workings than what's been included before now. Hopefully all of us physics nerds will get enlightened by the creators one day lol.

Yeah I will agree, the negative energy thing does seem like a fallback. But actually it does produce another interesting point in that this may be the way the Chronoverse actually works, thereby giving them a different, but still valid working of quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics is based on principle of uncertainty anyway, as Quantum implies unknown variables. This "negative energy" could be one of those variables.
Or, a wizard did it. Thereby proving that the Entity is a wizard.

Well, if dimensional physics are taken into account, could it be said that the entire CC game is a violation of the law of conservation of matter and energy? I.e. when traveling from home world to another world? On the basic dimensional level, the characters are actually being created in one dimension and being destroyed in another, yes?

Yeah sorry for being so brackish.
I just hear debate after debate about the entity, so I usually like to nip it in the bud.

If this was the 499th topic started on this, I wouldn't be angry.
But seeing as it's the 500th I can offer you this.
It's left to speculation. No one knows. Shrink up your shameless plug in your sig.

General Discussion / Re: Ethics and morality

I'm just good like that. I'm not here to throw another religion in someone's face, just offer a standpoint grounded in my belief system.

General Discussion / Re: Ethics and morality
« on: July 04, 2008, 06:34:40 am »
In my experience, I find that on this subject of morality and ethics, the best place to look is in the Word of God.
In the book of Matthew, Jesus' disciples ask him what the greatest commandment is. He replies with two commandments. The first is to love God with all your heart, mind, and soul. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself.
I take those commandments and live them vicariously, but the second one is what I want to concentrate on. The apostle Paul, through all of his writings, quotes this commandment repeatedly. I believe that it's the guiding principle in morals and ethics to love everyone as much as you would like to be loved. Now, there again is the definition of "neighbor."
I am a Christian. However, I am not above telling someone that they are a useless waste of my air. The other person/group's state of mind and being can indicate whether they are to be treated as "neighbor" or as a waste of breath. This doesn't mean that they can't change, or you can't see something about them that might change your opinion.
What I'm basically trying to say is that there's no clear sense of right or wrong in this world outside of your intrinsic ability to discern between "Good" and "Evil." Your morals and ethics have to be derived from, and applied to, interpersonal relationships with other people/groups, yet they also must fall as your heart dictates. There is no simple solution, just experience and growth in your own idea and belief structure about morality.
