General Discussion / Re: Baten Kaitos
« on: February 03, 2007, 03:52:34 pm »
As for Motoi Sakuraba's work, I loved The True Mirror too. I still listen to it a lot, and regard it as the best battle theme in an RPG. It's the single piece of music that made me want to hunt down the OST. I love the tracks Soft Labyrinth and Rumbling Earth as well. By the way, I've heard some of Origins' soundtrack... Not sure what to think of it. Poacher was mediocre, but the battle theme, The Valedictory Elegy, is fantastic. Giacomo's battle theme is back again, in the form of Chaotic Dance 2. It's considerably more upbeat and catchy than the original, but gets annoying quickly.

Anywho... I'll probably import Origins.
I love both Poacher and Valedictory Elegy. Urssa Lava Cave (The Endless Night if I remember) was really good too, but it's true that Sakuraba did an awesome work in the battle themes. But the best of the best is definitely Le ali del principio, interpreted by Mio Sakuraba (Motoļ's daughter, when she was 8 ).
I hope you'll be able to play Baten Kaitos Origins soon, it's really one of the best RPGs ever in my opinion.

By the way, thanks a ton Rufus for your answer to my question.

Site Updates / Re: Tanaka: No Chrono in Development

I agree with Kae, I don't know if the people who worked on programming, localization etc are really important to preserve the Chrono Spirit in Chrono Break, but I had always in mind that as long as both Masato Kato and Yasunori Mitsuda (and - I hope - Nobuteru Yuuki) work on it, Chrono Break would be a true Chrono game. And that's precisely because these two are now freelance that I'm sad to read what Tanaka said...

I have a question for those who finished both Baten Kaitos and Chrono Cross (warning, spoilers are coming of course) :

________________________________________________

At the end of the game (Baten Kaitos), we see that Melodia's hair turned white to blue. What is your point about that change ?
Since Masato Kato-sama was the director and scenario writer of Baten Kaitos, like he was for Chrono Cross, do you think I'm completely mad if I think that we can make a connection with Schala's case in Chrono Cross ? I mean, Schala was absorbed by Lavos like Malpercio absorbed Schala. And after saving the 2 girls, they appear with a different hair color.
Surely I'm thinking too much but I'd be glad to have your point.  :)

________________________________________________

Anyway, back on Baten Kaitos, I just love this game. This is one of my favourite games behind the Chrono saga and Xenogears. A wonderful game, with an universe reminiscent of my loved Chrono Cross. The music is absolutely AWESOME, Sakuraba-sama's best work ever in my opinion. The chara design is really original, and so is the gameplay. And concerning the story... when I remind myself about the beginning of Disc 2, after the Lava Caves... never seen that before, but I won't spoil more. Those who finished the game perfectly know what I mean.

Now I'm playing to Baten Kaitos Origins, and this game seems even better than the previous one.

And until that day, I was sure that Final Fantasy XI was a complete failure for SquareEnix. Maybe I should read the news related to the FF games more carefully. But I'm so tired of the FF series, especially the latest episodes (by the way, I agree 100% with MartyExodus, FF is dying... in quality, but in popularity I'm not sure, unfortunately).
Chrono Break, dammit !

The fact that the Chrono Cross is the 7th Element (or called so) and that Harle is the 7th Dragon doesn't mean they are related.

Submissions / Re: Chrono Wallpaper

All this time without internet....... but during the last weeks, I found the time to make two wallpapers (actually 2 versions of the same wallpaper), I hope all the Chrono fans of the compendium's forum will like them.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Blonde hair.......
« on: July 29, 2006, 01:15:21 pm »
Aww, I distinctly remember bringing up the point that Schala's hair colour, eye colour and body had changed because of Lavos draining her of her DNA, or changing it around T.T
I mean, she does also look pale as. And Kid isn't as pale, and Kid also has orange tipped hair.
I always thought about the Magic Drain theory since Janus, Schala and Queen Zeal are all blue haired. But true, that doesn't make sense since Schala's eye color changed too.
I like your theory but what about Schala's dress, which turned purple to white ?

Lavos absorbs as much Schala as Schala absorbs Lavos.
In terms of energy, most certainly. But can we say that Lavos was "dominant" since Schala's mind was corrupted by Lavos hatred ?

Welcome / Birthday / Seeya! Forum / Greetings from France
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:26:12 am »
Hello,

I'm Lee. I love the Chrono Saga so that's why I join this forum, since the Chrono fans community is not very important in France, even if many RPGs fans know and love Chrono Trigger (for Chrono Cross, it's an another story  :?).

I'm 21, RPG fan since 1997 with Seiken Densetsu. I started both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross in 2003 only. For the ritual question if it exists, I prefer Chrono Cross than Chrono Trigger. I love Xenogears too.
Others interests : shonen mangas, especially One Piece from Oda Eiichiro, and martial arts.

I'd like to congratulate and thank from bottom of my heart the Chrono Compendium staff for all the awesome work they have accomplished.

So, let the posting begin !  8)
I hope I'm not going to be too much of a burden in the forums because of my bad english.

Site Updates / Re: Nominations Open on Gamefaqs Character Battle
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:02:36 am »
So, basically, the conclusion of all this is that it is especially important that you nominate Magus, and also Frog.
Damn, I should have read this part before nominating my characters.
You are right Evvivan, even if I'm not a great fan of this kind of popularity contest, I'd really love to see the Chrono characters well represented in this Character Battle.

Polling / Re: 6/30/06 - What is Chrono Trigger's real flaw?
« on: July 27, 2006, 11:44:40 pm »
It's a bit too easy, some boss fights are difficult to win but not impossible.
Of course it is short, but regarding the others SNes RPGs, the length is ok.
I knew that this game would be one of my favourite when I arrived to Dark Ages only. Zeal Era was really complex and interesting compared to the Present or the Prehistory. Before that, I thought that I was playing to a classical RPG.
Well, I can say that the all-mighty Schala opened my eyes.

Well, I didn't know that so many people loved Guile even if I understand why, because of his resemblance with Magus. But unfortunately, he is not the great Magus we all know. Plus, he doesn't play a real part in the game, that's why I don't really like him.
I voted Harle of course, the deepest character of the Chrono series in my opinion and my favourite video game character ever. I love her chara development, her design and her kind of talking.
Lynx is an awesome character too, even if he is not included in the poll.

First of all, hi everyone, my first post here.

Anyway my point is that, when the stoneface says that a modern human brain is 3 times bigger than the original brain, I believe it was comparing the brain size of the "corrupted" modern human with the brain size of either the Australopithecus, OR the Homo habilis, OR some other early human species. It couldn't have been referring to a more evolved species like the Homo erectus, because erectus already has a brain size of 1,000 cm3... too big to be 3 times smaller than the 1,600.
While your post is perfectly argued, I don't understand what you mean by "corrupted modern human".
