Chrono News / Re: Rumor - Chrono Cross Remaster
« on: February 10, 2022, 05:46:55 pm »
I cannot BELIEVE this is finally happening... long overdue, and yea I can see why there are a lot of complaints regarding this Remaster... disappointing it didn't get better graphical treatment or any new scenarios, story content, etc... but the great news is that the Internet and gaming sites exploded with "Chrono" being the headline. That is a win.

I've also missed my Compendium family all so much lol. I have been away far too long... good to see the OGs still here alive and kicking  :D

ahh another veteran returns!

GrayLensman must be right around the corner.

That's an interesting take, and I am pretty sure you're right. Theoretically, there are an infinite possible of outcomes where Lavos was destroyed, and various ways the Day of Lavos came to be. Planets with other humans is likely, but only far into the future of Crono's planet.

Lavos' origin from deep space has always intrigued me.
Did he come to Crono's planet by accident, by choice, or was it told?
Lavos' survival is clear, but let me throw in something more...
Was it planned by the Lavos entity itself, or possibly from a larger hierarchy within Lavos' species?
If so, was Earth detected by long-range sensors before "Lavos" was sent, or was Lavos sent to seek out planets at random?
There are a lot of similarities to Lavos and The Borg from Star Trek.

Anywho, nostalgia and the unexplained fate of CT's team within CC is the major reason. Those who  played CT have a "bond" with the original cast. Many of us grew up with them, and they were apart of our childhood when life was less complex and everything was a mystery. The fate of the original team is something everyone wants to know about, even though it is implied they presumably died long ago. How did they die? Where? Are they even dead, or did Dalton seal some of them away somewhere? Where was Magus? What happened to Lucca? Crono and company may have completed their mission, but their fate is unknown, and thus, their stories incomplete. I direct sequel (or remake) of Trigger could tie in key elements to Cross, reintroduce the original cast, give us more facts about Dalton and Porre, and the Fall of Guardia, with Dalton presumably defeating the last wielder of the Masamune and how it became a major plot vessel during the events of El Nido.

Again, most importantly, the fans want any new game with Chrono in the title.
Secondly, they want the original cast. It would be the appropriate thing to do.
I agree it was more about the theme, but the characters play a huge roll with the fans.

I remember you.

You are among friends of old, and also new who have breathed life into this site.

This community has been scattered across the endless expanse of time, but we always find our way back to one-another.

Agreed, but it makes gaming headlines over the web.

Combine this with every article and review I've seen of "I Am Setsuna" mentioning CT in some way,
+
The prospect of SE's statement about reviving their popular IPs of old,
=
Hope, news buzz, and lots of positive reinforcement older gamers needed.

I don't remember Kato saying that, but someone did I'm sure.

Honestly, after the completion of FFXV and the FF7 Remake, I am hoping that Sakaguchi (who is on-board for the FF7 Remake) will try to pitch the idea again for something Chrono-related. I believe it will all fall upon the success of FF7 that will enable this mindset of SE to go back to previous iconic IPs of the nes/snes era.

Secret of Mana comes to mind...

My hopes are roughly in the middle, because I can't tell you how many hardcore fans of FF7 that I've met who were on both sides of the aisle - those wanting the game to stay in the PS1 era, and those who wanted it to be remade - but both sides were so passionate about having the game come back in some form regardless.

An animated series might be nice, though I'm not sure how they would handle Crono's voice; whether to keep him a silent protagonist or actually have him voiced by someone.

I have been hoping for Chrono news since 2006 when I first joined this site.
We got CT DS which was damn good, but the real dream of a sequel/remake is still out there.

This should definitely be moved to the News section.

Great find!
The dream of Zeal is alive and well.

I think we should all keep our eyes on "I am Setsuna" as well.

It's always great when these two talents come together for a project.

I am hoping SE scoops up Kato and Matsuda for something Chrono related, that is, after FFXV and the FF7 Remake drop...

That was an awesome read!! Thanks Faust!

Final Fantasy 13-2.

FF XIII-2 had great mechanics and an intriguing story involving many space/time theory including paradoxes. Regardless of the negativity the series received, it was a pretty good game. It also reminded me of some far-distant spiritual successor to Chrono in some way.

Well hold up... if Sakaguchi is back for this FF7 Remake, it's very possible upon its success (we hope) SE may ask him to stay on board to talk Chrono - just a thought

Site Updates / Re: 20th Anniversary Update: Phase II

Great to see these updates!

In regards to the SE survey, I did manage to take it - I found it very interesting that they actually had CT as one of the possible choices for which the fans would want to see more of in the future (I also saw Secret of Mana). Strangely enough, not even Chrono Cross was among that predetermined list.

Possibly a hint of what's to come if enough support is raised?

29
You're welcome!

haha I wept at the beautiful sounds being played. I hope you are able to attend one n the near future! Well, as far as Chrono goes, the plot possibilities are endless. Dalton is still at large, Porre still needs to be dealt with, Schala and Kid's status is still a mystery, Magus' whereabouts are still unknown, as well as just about the entire original crew. My gut tells me that we'll see the team again. All life begins and ends with Nu, after all  (rampaging Nu's scourging the planet? lol)

We'll have to see what SE plans to do after FFXV is released. I doubt they will get to work on that FF7 remake that everyone seems to want. Besides, FF7 is already scheduled to arrive on consoles (again) in DLC format this year. In any case, my hope shall not waiver. I am going to keep supporting RPGs and contacting SE and other members to push for Chrono to return.

Chrono News / Re: Static Site Conversion

Z,

Wishing you all the best. That is a huge endeavor! I really hope everything works out for you. I have been dealing with huge decisions lately, and my equilibrium has not been the same for many months.

Many moons ago, a foreign company took the my workplace, and I was among thousands of individuals who were laid off. However, I fall under the NYS Trade Act, and I can essentially go to school/training for free, as long as the program in question offers suitable employment after courses are completed. Then I got offered a job at a hospital with decent pay and excellent benefits, but no room for advancement. At this moment, I am still jumping through hoops wondering what to do. I hope to choose the right path, as my deadline for each decision is rapidly approaching...
